Loved bingeing on his videos😍 As a doctor in the process of moving to the UK and starting work in the NHS; I find these videos are really informative!👍🏼
Do you take the blood sample or is it the nurses job? Likewise about the antibiotics administration. Do you just give the orders or type it away, or do you go and do it by yourself?
In NHS.. Is it mandatory for a junior doctor to do night shift, If one dosent want to and is willing to substitute the same duty during day time n not working during any night.. Is that possible ??
Hi thanks for your videos i find them really beneficial, I’m in my second year of an accounting degree and i’m considering doing graduate entry medicine but really unsure.. I had a question about fy1 and fy2 so when you apply at the end of medical school how likely is it that you’ll get a job in the city you want if youve done averagly in medical school? Thank you :)
Hey Misbah, half your score when you apply is made from how well you’ve done at med school, and half is a situational judgement test. I’d say you’ve got a pretty good chance of getting where you want unless it’s a really competitive London location/very central Manchester
Hey, after completion of Mbbs is it better to sit for plab! Or 1st complete Pg in India, than give MRCP, OR MRCS, and than come to U.K? which one would be better?
Hey man, I don’t know which would be better but I know lots of people sit the PLAB, work here for a year then apply for PG training and that seems to work really well 👌🏾 good luck!
Prescribing warfarin at night whaa? Where I work they usually do bloods in the mornings so the inr is back whist the day team are still there to dose it, they shouldn't be leaving it for the on call
is it true that many hospitals in the uk don't have good facillities for doctors to rest and take a break especially during night shift where a doctor should have a on call room??
@@Kiran.Morjaria thank you so much for answering my question. I've been trying to look all over the internet but it doesnt give me a straight response. I really appreciate it and thank you for all that u are doing for the NHS and our country. I aspire to be a neurologist :)
I’m doing basically this minus the meds and medical side of it in the care home I work in. I have done day shifts and I am now on night shifts for 12 hr shifts. It is hard going there are always emergencies and residents up all through the night so it’s rarely a dull shift 😂 and the 3am lulling is defo real. 😂 we do hand overs too and i totally understand the importance of these. Do you think this kind of experience and understanding would put me in good stead for getting an interview at med school?
I also totally get everything you are going through with the night shifts. It is surreal. From the waking up in the evening and mistaking it for morning, then leaving for work when everyone is on the way out for a night out 😂 to the forcing yourself to eat in the night even though your body is like “whatttt? It’s nighttime what are you doing?” 😂 and then the quick adjustment back to days as well when needed. Not to mention the way it messes with your regularity in toileting. 😳
Hi, I am staring FY1 soon and have some questions regarding the outfit. Where do you keep all your belongings such as phones and/or ipad, note books, pens, snack bars, etc? Would you recommend getting a nursing pouch?
Hey John, that’s so exciting. Normally there’s a doctors office (locked in some places, not locked in others) where you can keep your things. I have a rucksack 🎒 with all my things (lunch, clothes if I’m in scrubs, water, stethoscope & badge, gym things sometimes) and leave it in the doctors office every day. Ours is not locked so I would not bring my laptop but there’s always people inside so it’s relatively secure.
Hi ! Great job wonderful video. Very informative. Can I ask you why you have to do another night shift the next day after 12 hours of rest ? Back to back ? And if you could share how many nights are there in a week or in a month ?
Hey Nana, thanks for the comment! In general we do 3 or 4 nightshifts in a row. If it's midweek I do 4 night shifts (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday night), if it's the weekend I do 3 night shifts (Friday, Saturday, Sunday night). It depends on peoples rota's how many night shifts they do in a month/year, for me personally I do 7 night shifts every 3 months (which is not that much compared to some other doctors!)
@@Kiran.Morjaria thank you so much for the information 🙏 I'm planning on what I should do after internship this really helps to paint a very clear picture 👍

does night shift mess up your sleep schedule?! I haven't had any yet but am kind of dreading it
Yes but you get used to it so quickly! What stage are you guys at?
Another Indian Doctor we are 4th years!

Either, it's both our responsibilities and it depends on workload

Yes it’s mandatory to do night shifts if you’re in training for the first few years at least
You're the first person who looks the same w or w/o beard to me.
I know it's sad but I love guessing which hospital you're in on each video. This is Salford Royal :-)
Haha you got it
Just Awesome 🍁

Is it possible to become a junior doctor at age 24 in UK?
Yes, I qualified and started work age 22 as a doctor 👨🏽⚕️

Is this stepping hill? My close hospital and so kind cause it looks similar and if it has i think you treated me last year
I wasn't at Stepping Hill last year, I was there many many years ago! This isn't Stepping Hill

How do doctors with kids survive this??!
It must be tough!
