As a Palace fan I can see why Jordan is Marmite because of his opinions and outspoken attitude. 1 thing for sure is he knows what he's talking about in football business terms even if he didn't get it right every time.
We lost Tim Cahill to Everton because Jordan wouldn't pay the agents fees. He told the agent to get his fee from Cahill because the agent had approached the club, not the other way around...in effect the agent was brokering the deal on behalf of the player not due to an approach from CPFC
Cahill scored around 11 goals for Everton that season and Palace went down on goal difference...hindsight being what it is maybe he now wishes that a different decision had been made but somehow I doubt it.
On balance I think he made the right decision but still wish he had been swayed to pay the fee

As a Leeds fan you can see the problems of loading a club up with debt. Risdale did it with Leeds at the top of the table with the prospect of European football on a regular basis. Burnley don't have that luxury they are a mid to bottom of the table club. The previous owners recognised the limitation of what the club could achieve and managed the club accordingly. The Blackburn owners got a very nasty shock when they discovered that relegation was a reality and they have not been able to get back since. As Simon Jordon said these Americans have come in thinking that English football can be like a MLS franchise where you limit the competition by limiting the number of people who can own clubs and then corner the market. That is not going to happen in the English game and somewhere down the line some American investor is going to get a very nasty shock.

As our rivals buy the players we are interested in for next to nothing, we still haven't purchased a player for the 1st team. The share owners have bankrupted the club with their greed and tell us they are Burnley fans. There won't be a club to support in a few years and the dark days are coming again for us. Yanks go home, take your debts with you and give us our club back.

He’s bang on yet again. Said it myself. If Dyche leaves they’re in serious do do. Relegation (which isn’t beyond the realms of possibility for a club like Burnley) could finish them.
I just look at these type of deals (not just Burnley‘s) and think what do a bunch of Americans know or care about Burnley? It’s a get rich scheme for them. Nothing more. Nothing less. That will be done at the expense of the club. Burnley are a great historic and traditional English club. However, they don’t have the mass appeal or marketability of a club like United, Liverpool, Chelsea or City etc. Let’s be honest, these owners aren’t going to grow the club stateside or in the Far East. I struggle to see what Burnley gain from this sale. If I was a Burnley fan, I’d be seriously worried about the long term health of my football club.

And they mock Rovers because we have an owner that continues to support the club. Yes they made some terrible decisions, but they continue to support and finance irrespective of any financial benefit. When Burnley is relegated it all ends! It is a car crash waiting to happen. The value overnight will drop like a stone as income stalls. If they do not get back up before parachute payments end, then it is game over and Burnley becomes Bury. A fitting end perhaps.

6 - Arsenal, Chelsea, Everton, Liverpool, Utd and Spurs have played every season
City might as well be added to that group now as they aren't going down under their owners
3 Aston Villa, Newcastle and West Ham have missed a few seasons, with 1 or 2 relegations
    That's 10 clubs.
Of the other 10 only Southampton 22/29 have played in more than 2/3s of the Premier League seasons, and only Blackburn 18/29, Sunderland 16/29, and Leicester, Middlesbrough and Fulham 15/29 over half.
Bolton and Wimbledon have played as many Premier League seasons than Burnley. Clubs need their income invested in the team to keep up with other teams.

Well said Simon. But the reality is few of the top clubs are owned by people who love the club. The owners of most the top clubs are in it for the profit. The best fans can really hope for is that it is about the owner's ego. Even then fans have to hope such owners continue to pump their own money in. The big clubs tend to survive, and eventually get back (ie Leeds), but we have lost too many clubs over the years, Bury, Chester, Darlington, Macclesfield, Rushden. This picture is even worse with non-league football where the grounds are worth more than the club, so gets sold for profit.

Manchester United are a perfect example ... Football itself is no longer the priority, it's not about the game at all, it's not about how the game is played, it's not about winning trophies... It's all about money! ... The club has been lost to big business ...

I completely agree with Simon and Burnley was in No Debt at all.. worked hard to get back the stand and grounds for some Yankee to come along and take the hard earned club money.🤷‍♂️ FA d see should be ashamed with themselves and the heritage that these clubs have are being played with and potentially being destroyed by GREED!!!!!

It’s ridiculous how all the premier league clubs have owners from either US, East Asian, Russian or Arab owners. This is why we’ve lost the passion and connection between the clubs and the fans these owners are using OUR clubs as cash cows to fund their own political agendas or corrupt ideologies. I’m not saying they’re all bad owners but the disconnect between the clubs and fans is only going to grow further if this continues.

How does one investor of group pay 10-20% of the value of a club then get funding for the other % Surely that would raise alarm bells and red flags. I know its of course hard to just purchase a club like city did but still using Burnley own money to purchase burnley im confused af

They have borrowed of an investment company , added it to Burnley's bank balance of 90 million and bought the club, paying off the owners with in part the club transfer fund. Now the club has little cash .no money through the gates etc. Just TV money. The new owners now have pay the loan off in stages. So to fund any transfers they have to sell or borrow more money. It's a recipe for disaster. If they default on the original loan they will have to re mortgage or sell the club in part of whole.

@@clipped6963 it's not such a risk if TV money stays stable although clubs now have to repay millions next year due to the virus. Burnley get about 130 million a year from TV and their staff costs are about the same. They need gate receipts and sales to build up their bank balances as all clubs do. The directors still remain at the club and if the new syndicate don't come through with the promised finances then they take BACK the club. An interesting future is promised.
