No, I think he was persuasive, excessive at times maybe.
He truly cared about people and he had a strong passion for what he did for a living. He did anything he could to serve justice, even if it meant conceptualizing a false theory about a serial killer on the lose in order to have a amoral drug kingpin locked up for life.

How do you know he cheated on every women he been intimate with? Where did you indicate this spew from?
Did you forget the plot where he was the only person who was investigating D's death even though no one else cared? Do you not remember how guilty he felt after hearing about Bodie's death? And how persuasive and driven to take Marlo down after so?
God damn, bring back The Wire. With all the crap shows on HBO now, a new Wire would be a hit - as long as they did right.
Watch the over shows David Simon writes on.
Yeah but instead of Baltimore, how about make it Chicago.
***** Who shot you?!
set it in Paterson,NJ
Every show would be a hit as long as they did it right, lmao.
So true! Applies to today as well. It's why this show is so brilliant!
"You disappoint me String, I had such fuckin' hopes for us."
LOL, enjoyed the brief moments of banter these two had during their Season 1-Season 3 rivalry.
1:36 His accent drops when he says "officer", great actor though
Steve King o
"You want something copied man?"
Stringer was a cool customer, not the least bit troubled by McNulty sniffing around.
He’s running with the hounds but his heart is with the fox.
"Officer..."
"It's Detective..."
"...Have a nice day officer"
Cold blooded
Two English actors - incredible performances. I miss the wire 😔
Two great actors, two great characters
I agree with your comments. And regardless of what Stringer Bell did both good and bad, he along with Omar, are always voted among the two best characters on The Wire. That says a lot about the great actors who played them.
Kept calling him "officer" 😂👍
thanks for including the iconic mcnulty's curse at the start
THE FUCKING GALL ON STRINGER! I just now noticed! He mentions Court papers because he knows that Joe has a guy on the court, which Lester and McNulty only find out about way before Stringer's dead. God dammit, alright, time to rewatch The Wire for the 5th time, fucking masterpiece of writing.
Chris after seeing McNulty litter, "Go by them slow"
This is my favourite scene in the entire series.
Damn I love this show so much. Breaking bad, The sopranos, all the other shows that exist just don't come close to the brilliance of this one.
Does it get better after season 1? I really enjoyed both BB and Sopranos and watched them all, but Season 1 of the Wire just felt a bit slow to me with too much focus on the detective work and not enough on the criminal side.
It will be very slow, all five seasons. But as they chase realism, not action, it should be this way. Plus, there's more time to flesh out characters.
"You want one way. But it's the other way."
Shaunoez Kewl the Wire is on a throne of it's own design.. It's not that nothing comes close, it's that there's no competition to begin with!!!
The sopranos is comparable, without sopranos the wire probably wouldn’t have gotten made
J2theB ahem, before Sopranos there was Oz
01:36 Idris' accent breaks here, he says officer in his real voice! This scene was freaking awesome!!!!
If String ended his career right then and there he'd have forever lived in McNulty's head rent free.
*A man with a uni-brow walks in*
Stringer & McNulty: "OFF! OFF! OFF! OFF! OFF! OFF!"
Haha. Good one.
two of the best characters on the show!
Such a good goddamn show. Breaking down how it's done with verve.
Love how he calls him officer even when he told him first that hes a detective
Yeah McNulty really got burned on that one!
@@ytkenny5 One could say he went from McNulty to McSalty after receiving such zesty stinger from the Stringer himself!
Idris and Dominic forget they're in Baltimore...
Stringer mutters to his employee "Bloody cozzers, get back to work I'll handle this"
McNulty "Stringer, me old son. I've not seen you 'round the estate. You alright mate?"
Stringer "Nah, guv...I've been here, haven't I? You need summat copied or wot? Stick a pin...where are you callin home these days? I've a got some flats hear Central London you may be interested in. I'll put in a good word for you."
McNulty "You havin' a Turkish, son? You disappoint me, String. I had high hopes for us."
Stringer chuckles "Well... this me now innit...mind how you go...cozzer."
Almost. Turns out he wasn't hard enough for them in there... and maybe... just maybe (definitely) wasn't smart enough for them out there. I loved it when Avon hit him with that line.
I like how stringer called him officer again after he said he a detective.
Of course Mcnulty and Stringer seem to have a connection. They both think they’re the smartest guy in the room 😂
1:35 Blatant English accented slip "officer".
Half-so I would imagine - bear in mind they see each other as worthy opponents.
yes it is - you got a problem with it maaaaaate
Stringer already knows about "officer" vs. "detective." After all, the first time we see him in the series he's flashing his 'Fuck you detective" cartoon at (the very amused) McNulty. I knew I was going to love this show when I saw that cartoon.
"Oi, copper"
I actually thought the more pronounced slip was on "search warr'ent"
*WE KNOW WHY STRINGER SAID OFFICER. THE POINT IS HE LET HIS BRITISH ACCENT SLIP!!*
the dialogue is so poetic - "ain't no way a police is gonna tie a can to his tail.."
i kinda wonder what B&B Enterprises stands for. Bell and Barksdale?
Pretty good guess.
Yes
Black Brit’s...
Should have been BBB’s...Bloody Black Brit’s....
Trying hard to do an American accent? Mate, they pulled it off really well. Most people are only finding out that these actors are English; so in my books they've done bloody well!
Two Amazing English Actors, convincingly playing American roles. For the record Baltimore accents are not the easiest, nor the most represented on the American TV and film screen, it’s not like the Boston or NYC accents.
"I had such fucking hopes for us." That line gives me chills and thrills. Best line of the series
Idris' British accent came out in two moments here: when he says "Loft apartments" 1:22 and "officer" 1:36.
Definitely on the second "officer" his accent dropped.
2 of the biggest badasses in the history of television. Great scene.
Best fucking show ever made. I also couldn't imagine a better one coming along.
god what a great scene
I miss this show
That little dude was perfect for the print shop or office max!!! He comes to work early, he checks all the inventory he keeps the bathroom immaculate!!! Where's that guy we need him for our transportation and cleaning business
more than enough to occupy me really
Masterclass in Criminal Game Theory. That's why I Love that show.
true :) they are both amazing actors.. but come to think of that all the actors in that show were amazing
when you think of it, both string and mcnulty tried to the play the game in their own ways
Two sharks indeed
Hey, why not? Stringer going into legit businesses. It worked for the Kennedys, soon enough everyone forgot that old man Kennedy was a bootlegger during prohibition the bigger he got in the legit business.
So true man! The Heat! Same thought came to my mind while watching that!
The extra 'officer' burn as Mcnulty leaves was nice.
I hope whoever is reading this goes on to achieve their hearts truest desires! Sending you all love and positive energy. Even one day when I'm long gone, may this message live on and continue to be a source of comfort to one and all 🙌🏾🔥🖤
Love you too.
Well thanks for that. It got me out of the bed. Sounds small, it isn't always
@@slykoopanafreshkangol5939 Many thanks 🙏🏾⚡💯
@@capnskiddies No worries at all! Go forth and conquer...
‘He tried to sell me a condo’ always got me laughing
It's amazing to think that both these guys are actually English.
Great performances.
now i want this scene in their original accent
Real estate in Bmore?
Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeettt
