Regarding the rant. I have been in this community since the beginning. As you know there has been fair share of drama, offending comments and other craziness. In my humble opinion. All of the VC members from the UK have unique and charismatic personalities. I could name ten without blinking right now. You are certainly one of them. I have never watched the person that made the comment. Never really thought that he brought anything positive to this community. My British VC friends have been a huge part of my record collecting for years. Tops. Thank you HP~ Rob/Boston

Hi Tim, thanks, it was slightly tongue in cheek, I enjoy Mazzie’s video’s, but sometimes I need a theme to get me to do a video 😆 I’m a big fan of 70’s 80’s NY club culture. I’ve got loads of books on the subject. Tim Lawrence wrote two fantastic books. ‘Love Saves The Day’ & ‘Love & Death On The New York Dancefloor’ The Love Saves The Day albums volume 1 & 2 are fantastic too. I bet you’ve got some fantastic stories!
@@Harrispilton22 I do indeed have stories... hopefully I will someday find the discipline to "put pen to paper". I could be seen stomping around everywhere from CB's to the Paradise Garage (my favorite) back in the day. I was all inclusive, but I tended to favor clubs like the Garage with incredible sound systems which led to my love of the 12" single. Thanks for the reading recommends.

Ha, ha.Full disclosure I have no problem with Mazzie at all 😊 In fact when I was getting destroyed once on a live stream he was the one person who questioned what was being said, & he wouldn’t have known I was watching at the time , so I thought that was pretty decent of him, particularly as I don’t know him at all . I think if you appear on live stream every day you just become a charicature. I’m glad I didn’t do it I think it would have ruined my whole experience on the VC.,

Hey Mika, good to hear from you. Great to hear I’ve got the nation of Finland behind me. 😆 Yeah, I’m very hit & miss with Can, but overrated at times, but Future Days is great. Yet that Meat Puppets is decent, really want Meat Puppets 2, but impossible to find pretty much anywhere. I think Greg Ginn has let all the SST bands master tapes rot or just threw them away, so unlikely to see any decent reissues unless the band have bought the masters like Sonic Youth.
I picked up a nice reissue of Gravest Hits at Armageddon Records in Boston. I think Drastic Plastic released it in 2016 along with a few other Cramps titles. Don't Go from Upstairs at Eric's? Fantastic album. I would bet that remix is enjoyable. >< I am wondering if they released a box set for that Tribal Rites of the New Saturday Night? Because it says Brooklyn Disco 74-75. I would guess that they released some other volumes from some of the other years? I appreciated you talking about SST. One of my favorite labels to come out of California in the seventies. Hey Rob! That Brooklyn Disco is just one record, it was compiled by Bob Stanley of Saint Ettiene, has some fantastic tracks, pretty much all killer. They just used 74-75 as that was the years Nick Cohn wrote about that influenced the movie Saturday Night Fever. Yes that Yazoo track is from Upstairs, the remix is very similiar but just highlights the main riff more, it’s fantastic. I’m a huge fan of SST records & have quite a decent collection of original albums as they were fairly cheap in the late eighties early nineties.always on the lookout for more, but really hard to find. That’s a really lovely comment about the U.K. VC contingent! This video is a bit tongue in cheek, Mazzie has always been quite decent with me whenever I’ve commented on his videos, I think when you appear on a live stream everyday you can become a bit of a charicature and people will take pot shots at you. I don’t know how people do it. Mazzie commented on this video & he’s taken it well. My theory is if everyone in The VC met face to face , all differences would be put aside & we would all just get on chatting about music 😊 Thanks as ever Rob, always appreciate your thoughts and comments. Hi Harris 👋 I like British comedy shows of the 1970s. TV shows such as Dads Army , Are you being Served , Hi de Hi , Steptoe & Son , Some mothers do have Them , On the Buses , Fawlty Towers etc. British humor is far better than American. Jeff Buckleys album Grace is brilliant. I still like to put it on. Sad about his tragic death drowning in the Mississippi River in the 1990s. I saw Nick Cave when he fronted his band Birthday Party here in New Zealand back in 1982. He still writes music and performs today. You have good taste in music .

Me & her had some history (it’s a long story) & whenever someone posted a negative video about her I would drop a comment, knowing that Rachel would see it & hoping she would respond so we could start a dialogue...eventually it worked last week, we had an adult conversation & I think it ended pretty well. Judging by today obviously it’s still a bit of a sore point..but again I think we’re ok with each other. Again appreciate it Carl 😊

Yeah that Nick Cohn story is true, crazy really, Saturday Night Fever was based on Mods in Soho in 1965!.Moonshake is great, I think there was a U.K. post rock band that named themselves after that song. Guys in VC tend to be insecure about hair loss & weight gain so even from beyond Jeff Buckley intimidates them. He knew he was good. What a voice & what a backing band. So Real my favorite track. Dream Brother eerily forecasts his own untimely demise. Norwich & Southampton clearly the class but both with flaws. No excuses for either to not return to the top tier.

I've got that Meat Puppets album and a couple others and it's kinda like looking up the first Green Day or Operation Ivy on discogs. I go into shock with the outrageous prices people spend on those albums. All these records I never spent more than $10 for, probably more like $6, and they go for $100+. Unbelievable.
Hey Ed, those early SST go for big bucks because the 90’s onwards Cd & vinyl represses sound awful & I think Gregg Ginn has let all the master tapes rot away, so they’re never getting repressed from the original source again, but yeah any 80’s U.K./USA punk/ alternative is just fetching big bucks..it’s the new Prog! 😊

I know Mazzy's mind is sadly showing clear signs of wear and tear, but he remains an extraordinarily astute bloke. Im quite happy to sort out some sessions with you to work on your personality. I can see you have potential, I mean it's quite well hidden right now, but with some work I think I could help you make it into the higher echelons of UK VC personalities. I loved Grace when it came out, even if some of it had a whiff of U2 about it, but I think I listened it to death. I saw him at Glastonbury, just him and his guitar, it was captivating. Thanks Hedley, yeah Mark me down for the full program! I was the same with Grace, played it to death for two years,but recently came back to it 20 years later when driving. I think some of the appeal is it feel like the ultimate MTV 90’s album. It gives me a nice nostalgia kick (I’m not someone who is very nostalgic tbh) I like the trance like appeal of some of his vocals I think he was a big fan of Nusret Ali Khan? which you can sort of hear. Yeah the Meat Puppets was priced on condition, but I knew it was just dirt so cleaned up a treat!

Hey JB, that Cramps is the second U.K. version It normally goes for about £20.00, so £10.00 was about right as it looked knackered.., it cleaned up a treat, but the sleeve is very tired! Meant to comment on your 12” video I watched yesterday .. I love a 12” for all the reasons you stated!

I’ll update you to Picallilli on the spreadsheet Dale. I find the 12” singles pretty addictive & most of the ones I show (with some exceptions) are cheap. It means I get my hit of buying a record with draining the funds. That 12” version of Brilliant mind is fantastic & 99 pence. Like the flip too!

Hey JT.Yeah I know that Buckley was a fan of that Indian classical singer Nusret Fateh Ali Khan, who used to sing in a trance like state. You can hear echoes of that in his own singing, but obviously westernised. I’ve got Hueveos & Monster by The Meat Puppets too..but really want Meat Puppets 2.Hard to find over here..but I think it’s getting reissued next month? Cheers mate, appreciate it!

One thing the VC has demonstrated is that the U.K. has a much bigger 12” culture than America.I guess because of the dance music explosion, Top Of The Pops & The weekly music press, 12” singles is pretty much all I buy now. The good things is that sometimes I can find small US independent label 12's in the dance music genre for cheap whereas in the UK we pay a premium for obscure US House etc

I know your opening was in jest but still, I have much more respect for the grass roots folks like yourself who stay true to their ethos and don't sell out for a few more dollars on their monetised channels. It's pathetic how contrary to the spirit of community this whole attitude is. I'll stop because I'll be offensive again. Nice records, esp. Can (my favourite by them) and that Meat Puppets LP. Hey Fred, cheers . Yes it was slightly tongue in cheek. Tbh my peeve is people who seem to treat buying vinyl & listening to records as a sort of academic exercise. That’s why I love your channel, you’ve got the Leftfield stuff,avant garde .but you seem to be a big fan of pop, house ,electro,R&b too. I just feel that some in the VC are locked into a mindset that music isn’t to be enjoyed but instead studied in a king dogfish hushed silence.I kind of feel sorry for them, just let your hair down, I’ve just been listening too a couple of early Destiny’s child 12” and the production & stuttering beats are fantastic. Can are great, but some of those early Timbaland & Neptunes productions are fantastic, really complex rhythms. I always think people like you & John the 6” pianist & Alan Static just have a fantastic view of music Some people need to loosen up a bit.

Flashback near Brick Lane? Yeah it’s hit & miss that one. Prices can be high, need to check condition in that place as they over grade, but if it’s singles you should be fine! Yeah Rough Trade is a bit soulless .Camden used to be great , but I think it’s gone a bit downhill, I tend to hit Berwick Street, Sounds Of The Universe can be good if you get lucky. Regarding the rant. I have been in this community since the beginning. As you know there has been fair share of drama, offending comments and other craziness. In my humble opinion. All of the VC members from the UK have unique and charismatic personalities. I could name ten without blinking right now. You are certainly one of them. I have never watched the person that made the comment. Never really thought that he brought anything positive to this community. My British VC friends have been a huge part of my record collecting for years. Tops. Thank you HP~

Hi Tim, thanks, it was slightly tongue in cheek, I enjoy Mazzie’s video’s, but sometimes I need a theme to get me to do a video 😆 I’m a big fan of 70’s 80’s NY club culture. I’ve got loads of books on the subject. Tim Lawrence wrote two fantastic books. ‘Love Saves The Day’ & ‘Love & Death On The New York Dancefloor’ The Love Saves The Day albums volume 1 & 2 are fantastic too. I bet you’ve got some fantastic stories!

I could be seen stomping around everywhere from CB's to the Paradise Garage (my favorite) back in the day. I was all inclusive, but I tended to favor clubs like the Garage with incredible sound systems which led to my love of the 12" single. Thanks for the reading recommends.

Hey Mika, good to hear from you. Great to hear I’ve got the nation of Finland behind me. 😆 Yeah, I’m very hit & miss with Can, but overrated at times, but Future Days is great. Yet that Meat Puppets is decent, really want Meat Puppets 2, but impossible to find pretty much anywhere. I think Greg Ginn has let all the SST bands master tapes rot or just threw them away, so unlikely to see any decent reissues unless the band have bought the masters like Sonic Youth.
I picked up a nice reissue of Gravest Hits at Armageddon Records in Boston. I think Drastic Plastic released it in 2016 along with a few other Cramps titles. Don't Go from Upstairs at Eric's? Fantastic album. I would bet that remix is enjoyable. >< I am wondering if they released a box set for that Tribal Rites of the New Saturday Night? Because it says Brooklyn Disco 74-75. I would guess that they released some other volumes from some of the other years? I appreciated you talking about SST. One of my favorite labels to come out of California in the seventies. Hey Rob! That Brooklyn Disco is just one record, it was compiled by Bob Stanley of Saint Ettiene, has some fantastic tracks, pretty much all killer. They just used 74-75 as that was the years Nick Cohn wrote about that influenced the movie Saturday Night Fever. Yes that Yazoo track is from Upstairs, the remix is very similiar but just highlights the main riff more, it’s fantastic. I’m a huge fan of SST records & have quite a decent collection of original albums as they were fairly cheap in the late eighties early nineties.always on the lookout for more, but really hard to find. That’s a really lovely comment about the U.K. VC contingent! This video is a bit tongue in cheek, Mazzie has always been quite decent with me whenever I’ve commented on his videos, I think when you appear on a live stream everyday you can become a bit of a charicature and people will take pot shots at you. I don’t know how people do it. Mazzie commented on this video & he’s taken it well. My theory is if everyone in The VC met face to face , all differences would be put aside & we would all just get on chatting about music 😊 Thanks as ever Rob, always appreciate your thoughts and comments. TV shows such as Dads Army , Are you being Served , Hi de Hi , Steptoe & Son , Some mothers do have Them , On the Buses , Fawlty Towers etc. British humor is far better than American. Jeff Buckleys album Grace is brilliant. I still like to put it on. Sad about his tragic death drowning in the Mississippi River in the 1990s. I saw Nick Cave when he fronted his band Birthday Party here in New Zealand back in 1982. He still writes music and performs today. You have good taste in music .

I've got that Meat Puppets album and a couple others and it's kinda like looking up the first Green Day or Operation Ivy on discogs. I go into shock with the outrageous prices people spend on those albums. All these records I never spent more than $10 for, probably more like $6, and they go for $100+. Unbelievable.
Hey Ed, those early SST go for big bucks because the 90’s onwards Cd & vinyl represses sound awful & I think Gregg Ginn has let all the master tapes rot away, so they’re never getting repressed from the original source again, but yeah any 80’s U.K./USA punk/ alternative is just fetching big bucks..it’s the new Prog! 😊

I loved Grace when it came out, even if some of it had a whiff of U2 about it, but I think I listened it to death. I saw him at Glastonbury, just him and his guitar, it was captivating. I should dust off my old CD and give it a listen.

Thanks Hedley, yeah Mark me down for the full program! I was the same with Grace, played it to death for two years,but recently came back to it 20 years later when driving. I think some of the appeal is it feel like the ultimate MTV 90’s album. It gives me a nice nostalgia kick (I’m not someone who is very nostalgic tbh) I like the trance like appeal of some of his vocals I think he was a big fan of Nusret Ali Khan? which you can sort of hear. Yeah the Meat Puppets was priced on condition, but I knew it was just dirt so cleaned up a treat!

I’ll update you to Picallilli on the spreadsheet Dale. I find the 12” singles pretty addictive & most of the ones I show (with some exceptions) are cheap. It means I get my hit of buying a record with draining the funds. That 12” version of Brilliant mind is fantastic & 99 pence. Like the flip too!

My favorite track on "Grace" will always be "Last Goodbye".. The way it builds at the end with Jeff's vocal gymnastics is otherworldly ! Your Tribal Rites LP is very interesting, as I love that era and genre of music ! Very cool Meat Puppets find, Harris.. I only have "Out My Way" on vinyl. Up On The Sun and Puppets II are my favs ! Hey JT.Yeah I know that Buckley was a fan of that Indian classical singer Nusret Fateh Ali Khan, who used to sing in a trance like state. You can hear echoes of that in his own singing, but obviously westernised. I’ve got Hueveos & Monster by The Meat Puppets too..but really want Meat Puppets 2.Hard to find over here..but I think it’s getting reissued next month? Cheers mate, appreciate it!

Hey Janne, yeah that Meat Puppets at £12.00 was a bargain..but it looked in bad shape..luckily only dirt & fingerprints! Very glad to getCan for £30.00 on Spoon, it’s a dealer I know well so he gives me great prices. Love that Hall & Oates single. Always looking for their album Abandoned Lunchenette..never see it, if you find a copy send it my way mate 😂 Cheers fellah!

One thing the VC has demonstrated is that the U.K. has a much bigger 12” culture than America.I guess because of the dance music explosion, Top Of The Pops & The weekly music press, 12” singles is pretty much all I buy now. @@Harrispilton22 Yes, seems to be much more interest in LP's here. If I do find 12" records sometimes I can find a good bargain. The good things is that sometimes I can find small US independent label 12's in the dance music genre for cheap whereas in the UK we pay a premium for obscure US House etc

I wouldn't really worry about not being named by certain professional youtubers who have nothing to offer unless it's linked to the growth of their channel or audience. I know your opening was in jest but still, I have much more respect for the grass roots folks like yourself who stay true to their ethos and don't sell out for a few more dollars on their monetised channels. It's pathetic how contrary to the spirit of community this whole attitude is. I'll stop because I'll be offensive again. Nice records, esp. Can (my favourite by them) and that Meat Puppets LP. Grace is a masterpiece but I don't know if I could ever enjoy hearing it again.
Hey Fred, cheers . Yes it was slightly tongue in cheek. Tbh my peeve is people who seem to treat buying vinyl & listening to records as a sort of academic exercise. That’s why I love your channel, you’ve got the Leftfield stuff,avant garde .but you seem to be a big fan of pop, house ,electro,R&b too. I just feel that some in the VC are locked into a mindset that music isn’t to be enjoyed but instead studied in a king dogfish hushed silence.I kind of feel sorry for them, just let your hair down, I’ve just been listening too a couple of early Destiny’s child 12” and the production & stuttering beats are fantastic. Can are great, but some of those early Timbaland & Neptunes productions are fantastic, really complex rhythms. I always think people like you & John the 6” pianist & Alan Static just have a fantastic view of music Some people need to loosen up a bit.

@@Harrispilton22 yeah got a bit better luck today at actual shops. Flashback was solid in east london. Rough trade was ok. Nothing grabbed me there today. A bit over priced and all new. But scored some great used singles at Flashback.
Flashback near Brick Lane? Yeah it’s hit & miss that one. Prices can be high, need to check condition in that place as they over grade, but if it’s singles you should be fine! Yeah Rough Trade is a bit soulless .Camden used to be great , but I think it’s gone a bit downhill, I tend to hit Berwick Street, Sounds Of The Universe can be good if you get lucky. Rough Trade very urban outfitters these days. With coffee table books (I bought one actually lol) and their "essentials" walls for newbie collectors
