Given that electronic components all have tolerance values, the actual temperature may be +/- 5% of what is displayed for an accurate sensor. More an indication of what the actual temperature is and its relationship with other readings, which also have tolerance deviations. Useful none the less.
isn't the point of an EGT sensor more of an early warning indication of heat? also, being placed before a turbo allows for a measure of those temps as well. not that it's a different measure altogether
My Prado at 118 kmh is actually 110kmh. I think the manufacturers do it. You can check it with scan gauge or an app called 55 start. Speedometer. Give it a go.
