Never noticed how derpy the male protagonist looks aiming his gun at a stone pillar 6 inches away from him instead of at either of the two on-screen threats.
That's reasonable but I think the foreground and background may have been handled by different artists--or maybe one artist did several mockups with recycled assets. The characters look pasted on to me rather than integrated into the scene.
@@Whelkman Actually, it was my brother in law that painted this. He took over from the initial artist, who was convicted of child abuse offences. The "pillars" are actually coverups of the first artist's figures, that were deemed too inappropriate to keep after the conviction. My brother in law then simply added a few extra baddies, which is why it seems like the angle is wrong.
@@MajorT0m Wow, I wasn't quite expecting that. Now I'm curious in what was in the original art. Thanks for the post. Incidentally, the (redrawn) remake cover art fixes the perspective issue by cropping the pillars, turning the guy clockwise bit, and placing a muzzle flash in front of the pillar to create the effect described by chewynickerson above.
This is the definitive edition of Rott sb/adlib ost. I hope they'll include v1.0-1.2 sb/adlib ost in the upcoming Rott remastered. Or at least v1.3 ost which was not that good I think. I was always wondering why did they had to change the instruments in 1.3? However "Going down the fast way " sounds best in Rott 1.3 (sb/adlib).
@@nitroraptor5316 great :) It's how we used to do sound back the day - it's very nostalgic. The real trick was making something that sounded good using very limited sounds. Loved this game largely for the music.
@@ChronicKPOP Personally I have to 486 computers and hope to get a C64 soon. When it comes to sound, I always use MiDI on my JV1010 by Roland. It's from around 2000, and it's a professional synthesizer, but it sounds amazing in DOOM II :)
@@nitroraptor5316 wait what? didn't you say you were barely a teen lol...you have an old soul bro :) I didn't have a C64 like my friends but I did have a VIC20 and spent countless hours learning basic on it. 486 wow.. most people don't even know what that is but I had a DX2-66 DX2-75 and DX4-100Mhz, and a SX25mhz at the beginning - that's the computer I played ROTT on - a DX4-100 but my most fond memories were of an IBM XT. I'd say my 1st real computer.
Klofkac Thanks alot for ROTT :). And by the way I didn't mean to flood with my comments even though it may look like it. For some reason some of my comments got temporarily hidden from the public. Not sure whether other users were able to see them. Some of them appeared later though but not all of them.
Klofkac, I seem to recognize your nick from somewhere. Weren't you active on FED2k forums? I will say that nick is kinda unusual and does sound a bit czech like, my home country, but that might just add to my confusion here. Anyway thanks for the upload.
This version really sounds terrible compared to OPL3 version: ua-cam.com/video/A55MTff2-jY/v-deo.html And OPL3 isn't even my favorite version of the ROTT OST. My favorite is the JV-1010 version: ua-cam.com/video/8Udj9YZUzmM/v-deo.html
awful instruments, as was the case for most of the pc games of that time. opl could do so much better, but we used to believe that this was actually the top.
Edward Carnby What i meant is that for whatever reason many developers of the time weren't able to program the yamaha opl chips (adlib & Sound blaster cards) properly. There were a few who did very well though. Believe me, this music sounds rubbish compared to the adlib/opl3 soundtracks of tyrian, lollipop or tempest 2000, etc.
As someone accustomed to listening to the highest-quality versions available, the 16-bit version has quite its charm.
My favorite game to play on Christmas Day in the 90s!
(or just set the date in DOS to 12/25)
One of the best FPS soundtracks ever!
Huh, EXCALIBR is totally a funky version of D_STALKS from Doom 2 and I like it.
If I remember right Excalibur is one of five tracks here composed by Bobby Prince.
The fact that you bothered to link them as a download too, makes me appreciate you so much. THANK you.
That last song woulda made me spit my drink, if I had one. I was not expecting That instrument of all things.

it's a forced perspective type issue; it looks like he is, but dollars to doughnuts he's aiming at a baddie off-screen

this is how actually i remember it. thank you.
1:06:12 was historically used for a team losing a playoff series,, but an additional track at 58:53 was added later.
Which team and when?

Thanks so much for this! I wonder if you can upload it again for Version 1.3? Cause I know this is the Adlib/Soundblaster/OPL for version 1.2.
Lingyan203 They screwed up (the developer) on 1.3 music IMO.

My comment was lost? Anyway does anyone know where to get this Adlib/OPL/SB16 OST?
Does anyone know where to download this OST and I mean Ablid/SB16/OPL version? This UA-cam version is the only correct full ost that I have found.
