Agreed 100% I remember I'd urged my dad to purchase a soundcard for the PC. Next Xmas a Soundblaster and SoMI were under the tree :D Also check out VengefulChip's upload of MI2 IBM-PC AdLib Soundtrack. These sound exactly like in my memories.
+Browsignal I see what you mean now. I had an PC with an AdLib compatible soundcard before, but I couldn't tell this emulated version was off. Will try to play with the cycle/emulation settings to see if I can fix it, and will post an updated version.
+VengefulChip Cycle speed directly affects how the game sounds, and it's most noticeable for the main theme I think. It threw me off when I first played SoMI on dosbox because it was approximating a 386 and I was used to my old Pentium machine.
i am using dosbox 0.74 and the frontend "d-fend reloaded" . the only thing i can switch between is pc speaker and normal midi sound. anything else i change (sb16 - sbpro... or OPL emulation type) doesnt change the sound . i wonder how i can activate the AdLib emulation...
ik this is an old comment, but for anyone wondering how to select sounds, type monkey ?. the arg after monkey sets the sound device, like "monkey a" for adlib, "monkey i" for pc speaker, or "monkey r" for midi
One of the best AdLib scores. Still like it 30 years later.
Believe it or not, I still prefer this old adlib version to the modern ones
I believe it. I'd find the inverse harder to believe.
@@nathangamble125 i would say the same of a lot of 90s Pc games. Adlib + pixels = Magic!
Agreed 100%

I'm glad some people are aware of the difference between definition and acoustical aesthetics
Agreed.
No poodles were harmed in the making of this game
Oh, old and sweet memories :)

makes me reminisce
Great Game, great Fun ... :))
this version is amazing! too bad your emulation slowed down the actual speed of the main theme
+Browsignal Do you have an recording that shows how this is supposed to sound on real hardware?
+VengefulChip also lazy games review has one too where he shows many versions of it from different chips through time
