The guy in this video is Nat Wolff, one of Billie's best friends. Him and his brother are the support act on Billie's tour right now. In the behind the scenes video she explains that this MV, especially the chase and fight at the end, is a metaphor for running scared from love/a relationship, but that it'll catch you eventually.
A little about the video “For the song, she “envisioned a dream-like narrative” with “long, dark hallways and shutting of doors” in order to “symbolize the different corners of the mind,” according to a press release of the new music video. This could be seen as the musician and her costar Nat Wolff run away from each other through several rooms and even fight a few times in dark hallways and eventually outdoors. In the music video, the pair just can’t seem to get rid of each other no matter how they try, which Eilish said was a representation of their “inescapable connection.” They appear to battle it out in the grass for the last few moments of the music video, before the music video ends with them sitting together in the grass during a sunset. Eilish said this was meant to show the “external expression of an internal push and pull, as our deepest feelings of fear, love, or desire inevitably catch up to us, no matter how hard we try to run away,”
Yeah to me it feels like it portrays a very toxic and abusive relationship, showing what happens to a lot of people, the constant cycle of taking them back/ forgiving? One moment they’re fighting the next they’re smiling and running away together. A very good representation of that toxic love hate relationship that keeps people in it for so long because they cling on to those good parts, almost makes them forget how bad it really is because those good and happy parts are the ones they choose to remember.
your sculpture looks amazing!!! Thank you very much for your dedication in making these reactions. Billie Eilish has explored so many things in her music and production (also her brother, Finneas) even a Bossa Nova (called "Billie Bossa Nova") which I highly recommend in her official live performance. Just some recommendations to know this great artist! Again, thank you very much for your great content!
I just saw her in Denver last week and she starts her concert with Chihiro. If you ever get the chance to see her concert, it's definitely worth it. I've always interpreted this song to be about a toxic love/hate relationship as you mentioned in the video. The awesome thing about Billie is that if you ever ask her what a song is about, she prefers that each person who listens to it have their own meaning to it.
Also, the dark scenes are from her album cover shoot if you haven't seen the cover yet. She wore a weighted vest to sink into water, which plays off the title track of her last album ("Happier Than Ever"), where in the final scene of that video she sank into the water.
Love your Billie reactions! Not sure if you know this but she was training to be a dancer when she first became famous, and had to stop dancing because of an injury. I think you'd love the "Billie Eilish - Ocean Eyes (Dance Performance Video)" - this is the song that made her famous at 13, written by her brother and she choreographed a performance to match it. It's beautiful.
Thank you - another great reaction! Your instincts are correct about the love/hate and dysfunctional relationship depicted, as noted in other comments. This is from the Hit Me Hard and Soft Album and the cover of the album portrays a door above water with Billie floating/drowning in the water. That is what you're seeing during the dark parts that you couldn't make out on your monitor. Sonically, this 5-minute track was such an enjoyable journey. Can't wait for your next Billie review. For a more sensual Billie, you'd find a lot on the Happier Than Ever album. Happy Thanksgiving!
I think Chihiro and Bittersuite are the most intriguing songs on the album. The Chihiro video and song are 2 different experiences. I don't think anyone else could have made this. I kinda thought ur perlexed reaction was a tad distracting. The production and Billie's vocals are standout, wanted to hear more about that but I see the video can distract from the song. One of their most creative imho...
for me i view this song as a battle against myself and my brain and my depression and just trying to run away from the dark and sadness but it always catching up to me and me trying to shut it out. a sad view on it but its so freeing at the same time. my absolute favorite billie song.
good luck with your sculpture, it looks really nice as you can see. The dark ones are excerpts from the recording for the cover. You may need to adjust the brightness of your monitor a little, I had this problem with my laptop, it was easy to see on my smartphone. In an interview she saw that it was something like a toxic relationship, where neither of them can let go of the other but it doesn't work together either. And yes, let's be honest, hardly any other singer manages to look so sweet and sexy in a baggy sweater and pants.🙈😅 and I'm a 51 year old woman. I think Billie bossa nova or Happier then Ever too the next Time we're so nice.
Great video.Very bipolar hot and cold relationship. This video depicts it very well. I've been there before. Hate the rapey looking part with all my soul.Great sculpture and I hope you win!She does scream in the back of Happier Than Ever
Actually, it was a Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum and Cherry Coke Zero. Not really a fan of really heavy beers. I'll drink them but not with food because they are a meal all on their own. LOL
Chihiro is a female Character in an animated movie " Spirited Away" Billie Eilish's favorite Animated movie

For sensual watch one of her older videos for a song named Bitches Broken Heart(offical live performance). Also, her cover of Fever.

The dark parts towards the end are also moving portrayals of the album cover (just missing the white door)
She directs her own music videos she a true artist one of a kind 💎

Billie directed this video. Another Billie directed video 😁 there’s quite a few of them out there now

The added text commentary is a good insight but also maybe unintentionally hilarious at times 😂
Usually intentional. You should hear the jokes I don't put in because you never know how people will take them.
@ I’ll bet they were a riot too!! Probably for the best though, you don’t want the drama haha
Yay! I’ve been waiting for another billie video! Good luck with your sculpture contest, from what I can see your stuff looks amazing!
