This was totally disrespectful to the original cast of Encanto. It was like saying: you’re not good enough so let’s throw some “names” into the mix to help… Also totally disrespectful to Lin Manuel Miranda and his work. Not Meghan’s fault nor Becky G nor Luis Fonsi, the guy who produced this and the suits who pushed him to do it, those are the ones to blame! 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️

As Colombian I felt insulted by The Academy. Not only they decided to start the song with some Flamenco guitar notes [Flamenco is from Spain, not from Colombia] but they brought 3 singers to the stage, not even one of them is Colombian or at least was a character of Encanto. They took the stage and now they are the main act while the actors, are in the back. I mean... wow.
I felt like when I told an American lady I was Colombian and she asked me what part of Mexico is that.
I hear your I wonder why they ( award show) do that like when theydidn't need JLo doing a tribute to Motown when alive and well are Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder, Gladys Knight, Jennifer Holliday, and thousands thousands of R&B soul singers such as Martha Reeves, Brandy, Mary Wilson, Patti LaBelle, Tamia, Babyface, Mariah Carey ,Beyoncé, Rihanna...they're all alive and many other soulful R&B singers are alive ...so basically award show producers always switch it up...

I totally agree Megan was good but yk its just i would take the of cast singing it over anything the vocals on that song every actor did such a great job which is why the song is what it is it just wasn't necessary to bring in other imo
I don't think that this mess was her fault. She does have a strong stage presence after all, but the first live performance of WDTAB was used as a bait to improve Oscar ratings, we were expecting the original tune and not a remix.

I agree. Megan slayed, and that dress was amazing. I had no hate for her breakdown in the song. But I feel, as a lot of others do from what I've been reading, that a Broadway-esque staging of the song with the original cast was what we were looking for. Half the song, less than aminute of the actual cast, then a new verse celebrating the Oscars....major misstep and a failure IMO
You Sir said everything that most people felt while showing respect to megan. You were honest though explaining that her part wasn't needed and giving her credit for still pulling it off. First time I listened to your channel and I'm impressed. Great critic. Keep up the great content

Totally agree. When Megan thee Stallion came on, I was utterly disappointed. I even said, they changed the best part!! It also spoiled the entire song with that Oscars bit mashup. Should have just sang the song with the cast.
Of course, Megan can't read the room and saying people are being haters. Megan in my opinion one of the best rappers out there, but her bragging about crash on song that is supposed to uplift the Colombian culture and being offend that people didn't like it is ridiculous. If that was an all-black cast, they put Ariana Grande up there just for ranking we would be PISSED. But her replacing the best part of the song with a okay verse your going to get backlash no matter who you are.

I can't imagine how the cast must have felt when they heard that it is not going to be their original version at the Oscars... It is of course not the other singers' fault and we shouldn't be disrespectful to them but having them stand in front of the ORIGINAL CAST at the end as well makes me really sad. And now we still have to wait for a REAL first live performance of "We don't talk about Bruno". They really f***ed up, didn't they?

I absolutely did not like the Oscar performance. That second verse was the best part, which I was anticipating. But the whole thing, from Megan's rap to the rest of it just fell apart for me. I was very disappointed by it.
Maybe they asked the original people to perform it and they didnt want to but got permission to use song 🤷

I was very disappointed! I wanted the original cast singing it! It would have been amazing to watch them perform live! Anyway... Is there any chance we are going to see it live in some other event?

Bruno was a fail NOT because of Meghan's part but because of the overall arrangement and lack of talent of other performers. The singing, the staging, the audio, just DISASTER. The other artists' vocals and presence are not there. Meghan is the only exciting part, although you're right, she cuts off the whispering rap. My point is, if you eliminate Meghan, it wouldn't be better. The arrangements of the vocals, the singing parts, the blocking all need to be elevated.

I agree. Megan did an awesome job, but she could still perform, just not with that song or with that cast. She didn't outshine the casts, just merely put the spotlights on her. I feel like this is hollywood, the same it was then and as it is now.

In order to have the entire cast shine and or preform, a different song would need to be chosen because only 3 characters..if I recall correctly, sung "Bruno". So I think changing it so every character had a part was to satisfy that issue. I didn't love it. I would have perfered a mash up of a few songs and allow the cast to sing there own parts. I did like Megan's part. They are doing what tiktokers all over are doing..remixing the song which i thought was super smart and a nod to them. I didn't even recognize the two singers that were added and found them unnecessary too. Overall...I was both disappointed and also excited at the same time to see a Mashup.

Sorry but no Megan's verse fits about as well as Cardi B's on "Girls like you." Megan and Cardi are very talented but no they don't fit into those respective songs. This was not like Lil Kim's verse in Lady Marmalade. That is true harmony. I mean think of Mya's softness, Pink's sultryness, and Christina's power.. idk why it seems so hard to do this and the business did this again with Don't call me Angel putting together three singers who don't mesh well and it just seems three seperate parts. When you have a organized piece of music you can have different styles and they can harmonize. Megan just seemed to think screw this Disney song, I can just do my thing. At this point I'd take John Legizamo singing it. Still not as bad as the Let it go back in 2013 but definitely not as great as I can see the light in 2011.

Megan did her part as SHE WAS ASKED TO DO SO. I wish she would of said no so y’all could really hear how they sound.I honestly felt like only 2 people of the cast were actually on pitch. The first to sing in the yellow was flat when she started . The woman in red (maybe orange) dress vocals were shaky and weak you could barely hear her over the music. Finally the woman who sang “married in a hurricane” was too sharp(thee most cringy part). But y’all can’t pay any attention to that because you’d rather hate the woman who was asked to step out of her genre. who actually did a great job and made history while doing it.
Actually, I bet the key change was prob also some intentional “modification” by oscars, because u could tell the entire cast was in the same key after Pepa made the key change, which meant that they knew ahead of time prob.
The Oscars are NOT white anymore, It's OBLIGATORY now to add black artists into every category throughout the whole show, promote inclusiveness.
