The rifle arrived today and I dialed in the scope just a couple hours ago ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxQt2uORDRfFOVSrO4idv4B90ThT6EOnEL . I haven’t shot with a scope in probably 25 years. The X on the left was my target. (the shot almost in the bullseye on the right X was my father in laws first shot after I made adjustments) The two shots circled are my first 2 shots. Then I brought it down - shot once. Then brought it over to the left. From there zeroed it in to dead center. This all was from 25 yards out. Follow instructions carefully when mounting the scope. So far I'm very happy with the purchase.
I purchased a stainless steel Gide Gun in France a few months ago. It shoots just like yours at 50 and 100 m range. It’s fantastic, it does better than some other riffles with scopes. My favorite rifle next to a couple 44 mags and a 9422 Winchester. 45-70 caliber is the only government I trust, specially from Pedersoli
Love saying I now have pedersoli sporting rifle and it is everything you showed I waited many years and it was worth it thank you cap&ball for introduce ing me to this wonderful gun that completely outshines my miruki Winchester god bless you and your family and Dr David pedersoli
Great review and beautiful rifle! Personally in the strong action lever guns I've always been partial to the Marlin actions over the 92 and 86 Winchesters! But as usual Pedersoli blows it out of the park with a beautiful repo!
Mr. Balazs, you are correct, your 100 yd. group looks like one from my scoped 30'06 at 100 yds. with 180 grain bullets. Great group, beautiful rifle. I know it will be a little on the "pricey" side, but well worth the price. Thank-you, Dante.
Factory loads generally don't shoot as tight as hand loads. I have a 500 grain bullet that come from a mold I had custom made and it gives me 2" groups at 200 yards with my Pedersoli Sharps Boss gun fitted with mid range Kelly soul target sights. This Pedersoli repro is awesome. You are one lucky guy. You do what I have always dreamed of. I'm too old now, but I love guns and especially "Historical" firearms such as those of yesteryear.
As a hunter, black powder guy, historical firearms enthusiast and an American whose ancestors emigrated from the Kuk who still continues our hunting traditions, thank you sir! I hope to take a Pedersoli rifle in the woods with me one day. Weidmannsheil! Please continue!
Great video. You are clearly the happiest guy on UA-cam. Great video, informative and enjoyable, but it just made us happy watching you be so happy. Keep up the great work!
Sir your videos are the best. I ha e learned a lot. not only about black powder but the history. Thank you. please keep making videos. I have purchased a pedersoli Hawkin. And learning. Thank you sir.
I get the distinct impression that you really, really like this rifle. haha And, why shouldn't you; gorgeous and highly accurate. As you say, what more could you ask for. Great video depicting it also, bye the way.
very very beautiful rifle... i am just now putting a Leupold scope on my new Marlin 1895 GS... 45-70 is a very special club... i’m very happy to have found your channel. best wishes from San Diego! ciao:)
Great review! Pedersoli is the epitome of the 1886. I own two Uberti 1873’s 45 long colt and the 44-40 and the Italian craftsmanship is unsurpassed in my opinion. They are such a pleasant shooting experience. I’m can’t wait to add the 1886 to my collection but very very hard to find them in the U.S.
Great shooting and beautiful rifle. I also have a 1 of 3000, 1886, Gold inlay, hand engraved, I shot 12 rounds thru it and it does shoot extremely well. I also have the 1873, 1892 and the 1894. I love them all.
I certainly love my Pedersoli 1886 deluxe rifle w/26" barrel. I also purchased a Marlin Guide Gun, stainless w/ red dot & ghost ring sights. One rifle i drag through the muck and the other is for finer work.
Fine shooting and love your enthusiasm. I've been planning on buying a .45-70 rifle this spring. Love living in the "Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave".
I was hoping to acquire a Pedersoli 1886 but they were on back order so I purchased a Chiappa 1886. Every happy with the purchase. Even the Chiappa is impossible to get. All three manufacturer’s, Uberti, Pedersoli and Chiappa are right next door to each other. I wonder if the have relationships with each other. They all use similar C&C machines. All three produce outstanding quality firearms.
I have one and I get pretty great accuracy like you did . I shoot Orange shotgun target clays off a berm no problem at 100 yards. That was some outstanding shooting you did at 100 meters. Great Job! Incredible group! I reload my own cartridges as well. Makes it a lot more satisfying when you get accuracy like that!
The 1886 Winchester rifle in 45/70 was probably one of the very best American rifles ever made. I think this rifle could have serve in military applications as well. You have to wonder why the U.S. Army didn't adopt the 1886 Winchester as a service rifle. It would have worked well for many decades. It was a good enough rifle design to be evolved into just about anything the U.S. military would have needed.
I've heard so many good things about the 1886, like the prominent youtuber hickok45 says it might be his favorite gun of all time. I heard the reason why the military didn't pick them up was because they were viewing bolt actions as more reliable and easier to use from a prone position which was becoming more common in warfare at that time. I wonder if anyone will make a 150 year anniversary edition in 2036 of the 1886 like they did with the 1873 last year. Coz I was born in 1986 and will turn 50 in 2036 so it'd make a pretty cool 50th present lol
One of my first rifles was a Springfield Trapdoor 1884 - 45/70 that got me hooked on 45/70 I still have that rifle also a carbine. The 45/70 is a good cartridge a lot of good reloading choices..My main use is a Ruger No. 1
That was a really fine group, especially for open buckhorn sights. I really dislike those kind of sights. I only use tang or receiver sights on all my rifles without scopes. Normally, a nice tang rear sight and a hooded front sight would tighten up any 100 yard/meter group but that group would be hard to improve on.
Good to know you found a great load with a 350 grain projectile. I've always thought that weight would produce favorable results in the 45-70. The only thing I would want differently on that rifle is a shorter magazine ammo tube to save a bit of weight. Yet, I'd keep the 26 inch barrel for velocity and accuracy. And probably a recoil pad and a tang sight.
My goodness, that rifle is so accurate it is almost boring. where will you go from there. It's almost a 1 MOA rifle. Many new bolt actions wish they could shoot like that. Great reloading on your part, and one great rifle. My envy knows no bounds.
I always enjoy your videos.. You definitely have the "Cowboy" heart. I also have several 45-70 Lever rifles as well as other calibers. Have the new stuff to but love the Old West lever and revolvers..
sir we seem to have very similar taste in firearms i have enjoyed every single video i have seen so far on your channel and i have been slightly binge waching your uploads over the last two days you now have a new subscriber well two infact as my father has subbed aswell keep up the good work 😀😀😁
Great video as always. I really like your camera shots and editing, sure beats a dude sitting in his garage with a camera pointed at his work bench lol! Excellent accuracy especially with those sights.
Awesome! If this rifle shoots this well with buckhorn sight I can imagine truly amazing accuracy with a vernier Tang sight. I'm planning on buying one and setting it up with the vernier tang sight. Thank you I appreciate your time.
Most excellent Sir! Beautiful rifle and the accuracy is outstanding which makes me want one but, with my old eyes I would not be able to shoot as well as you.😀 Keep making these great videos, love your enthusiasm!
Last sentence in video "I love it!" previous to that you have a rant about quality of wood, mechanics and how this is a gun to pass on to your children. Dosen't get more positive than that.
It looks like the rifle was sighted in for 100 meters before it got packed into the box. Your groups were excellent at both 50 and 100 meters. Nice shooting of a very nice rifle. Thanks for reviewing it!
I have 2 1886 rifles now, an original 1886 in 40-82 (essentially necked down 45-90 casing and one of the first bottle neck cartridges) and a Winchester (made by Miroku) which is a much higher build quality than any original Winchester and it is in 45-70. I used to have a model 71 in 348 caliber. All of them are excellent rifles. I used deluxe model the 348 primarily for deer and elk hunting in the pacific northwest. Washington Idaho and Oregon.
I've been looking for a good reproduction of these for a while. The browning ones come with those horrible tang safeties and a hooded sight. I really want this rifle now.
Aanii, greetings, I really admire that 1886 pedersoli 45/70, it's a dream of mine to actually own one of those splendid firearms, I would put a lollipop tang sight on it just to get that little bit extra for accuracy, but just a absolute beauty, thank you for showing it, shakyjake out!
awesome shooting with those sights! I have the Henry 45-70 that came with the semi-buckhorn rear sight. My old eyeballs wouldn't work well with it, so I installed a peep sight. For me, much better.
like I've already commented elsewhere in this video I saw my uncle shoot one half a mile away with a model 94 in 32 Winchester special. he hit the buck in the neck at the base
+Rickey Ryan you mean to say you do not believe me? one thing to consider is even with rifled muskets I've heard of people getting shot at between four to six hundred yards with them maybe not consistently or even with a lot of power but that's rifled musket now with a lever action rifle was smokeless powder that's definitely possible especially if somebody's used the same combination of ammunition and rifle for about 25 to 30 years. otherwise let's think about this at a thousand yards people are able to score hits with an M14 with open sights. maybe not Bullseye accuracy but still they're able to hit man sized targets at a thousand and I've even heard of Russian bolt-action hitting at seven to nine hundred yards with open sights.... but then again that's something that's sacred to me as hunting on a cultural level especially. have a good day sir
I've seen a guy here on youtube using a Mosin Nagant shooting his own hand loaded rounds hitting a 12-18" target at 1000 yards time after time. In the trenches of the first world war when the Americans eventually joined there was a group of excellent marksmen picking off German troops at 1 mile plus with their Springfield rifles over open sights. The poor Germans would see a friend drop down dead and hear the shot ring out afterwards as the sound caught up to the bullet. Some people will always scoff at such tales, most probably they think because they can't do it, no one can.
The 444 Marlin comes from the 44 Magnum wich is already a very good round (I love shooting my S&W 29!). The Pedersoli is a high quality firearm! Nice finish and built tough... Great round and great gun: perfect combo!
Amazing group. I cant do that with my CZ 452 Ultra Lux at 50m! I've always wanted one of these Pedersoli's. About $2500 Australian to buy here. Thanks for the video!
It is Fantastic to see a European so enthusiastic about Shooting an American Legend. We are Watching capandball

This is one of the best channels on UA-cam. Particularly interesting for history buffs. Warmest congratulations!
i agree compleatly what a great channel he has
It is
The excitement of a new gun !!! The Italians can make beautiful guns.
Open sights, 100 yards...amazing shooting!
I'll watch any video with 45-70's. Gotta love a good thumper!!
Love the enthusiasm!.... Your approach to the 100m target was great... :-)
Ohh, nice to see you here, isn't it?
Lovely rifle and congratulations on your recent 100k subscribers, your enthusiasm is infectious, greetings from Australia
That is a fantastically beautiful rifle!!! That sort of accuracy at 100m with open sights is nothing to sneeze at.
I purchased a stainless steel Gide Gun in France a few months ago. It shoots just like yours at 50 and 100 m range.
It’s fantastic, it does better than some other riffles with scopes. My favorite rifle next to a couple 44 mags and a 9422 Winchester.

not sure what is better...the 100m group... or your enthusiasm! Great gun, great vid. One of my favorite UA-cam channels.

I really like 45/70 Govt. weapons. And this is a particularly nice example.

Pedersoli un orgoglio italiano !!
This rifle is absolutely one of the best looking, best shooting '86's available. Thanks Pedersoli.
Late to the party but your enthusiasm was evident and I agree, this rifle is heirloom quality.
I get similar results from my Winchester 1886.... same model.... 26" BBL and tube. I also hand load my 45-70. LUV THIS RIFLE
Great video. You are clearly the happiest guy on UA-cam. Great video, informative and enjoyable, but it just made us happy watching you be so happy. Keep up the great work!
After the first shot, that grin stayed on your face for the rest of the video. 8-)
Sir your videos are the best. I ha e learned a lot. not only about black powder but the history. Thank you. please keep making videos. I have purchased a pedersoli Hawkin. And learning. Thank you sir.
Shooting like Tom Horn! Good job. Especially for out-of-the-box accuracy.
45-70 is a very special club... i’m very happy to have found your channel. best wishes from San Diego! ciao:)
Fantastic shooting cowboy, very nice video, totally jealous of the rifle! Rock on bro - glad to hear you are loading your own ammo!
Beautiful rifle and excellent marksmanship Sir!

Incredible - in a positive sense - I believe the group
You're right to look so pleased! Accurate shooting, open sights prove themselves again!
Great shooting and beautiful rifle. I also have a 1 of 3000, 1886, Gold inlay, hand engraved, I shot 12 rounds thru it and it does shoot extremely well. I also have the 1873, 1892 and the 1894. I love them all.
Outstanding shooting and beautiful rifle!
I certainly love my Pedersoli 1886 deluxe rifle w/26" barrel. I also purchased a Marlin Guide Gun, stainless w/ red dot & ghost ring sights. One rifle i drag through the muck and the other is for finer work.
Congratulations on your new rifle and your reloads which produced some impressive 100m results!
Fine shooting and love your enthusiasm. I've been planning on buying a .45-70 rifle this spring. Love living in the "Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave".

What model and make

you look strait out of a western movie, really cool man. Love how you put the effort in to dress up for these videos. Keep it up

Really enjoyed just now seeing this video. I was salivating to have one of these Pedersoli 1886 models. So very handsome a rifle!
Impressive group Sir, and I love the rifle
hfef
I've seen the Pedersoli 86, and they are beautiful.
I love this! You're like a kid on Christmas morning! Excellent shooting as well as an excellent rifle.
Always enjoy your shooting videos!
That is a great group too.

Normally, a nice tang rear sight and a hooded front sight would tighten up any 100 yard/meter group but that group would be hard to improve on.
Agree, if the rear sight was a ring type like the M-16 A2 I shot in the Army the groups would be much tighter.
She’s the whole package. Looks and performance.
Nice shooting brother! Great video.
Great video...I have to get a Pedersoli 45-70 now
I always enjoy your videos.. You definitely have the "Cowboy" heart. I also have several 45-70 Lever rifles as well as other calibers. Have the new stuff to but love the Old West lever and revolvers..
What a beautiful rifle and an awesome shooting performed by you!
You're an excellent shot, Sir! No wonder you're winning medals!
sir we seem to have very similar taste in firearms i have enjoyed every single video i have seen so far on your channel and i have been slightly binge waching your uploads over the last two days you now have a new subscriber well two infact as my father has subbed aswell keep up the good work 😀😀😁
Great video as always. I really like your camera shots and editing, sure beats a dude sitting in his garage with a camera pointed at his work bench lol!
Excellent accuracy especially with those sights.
What a great place to shoot, love it! nice rifle too.
Beautiful rifle. Great shooting!!
Someone, somewhere in Hungary is having a real blast today. Nice shooting!
Awesome! If this rifle shoots this well with buckhorn sight I can imagine truly amazing accuracy with a vernier Tang sight. I'm planning on buying one and setting it up with the vernier tang sight. Thank you I appreciate your time.
Fine job of shooting a fine rifle...way to go!!
Good looking rifle. Nothing like a nice lever action.
very nice shooting and reloading. they really smooth out after 126 years.
Most excellent Sir! Beautiful rifle and the accuracy is outstanding which makes me want one but, with my old eyes I would not be able to shoot as well as you.😀 Keep making these great videos, love your enthusiasm!
That accuracy was incredible
So, did you like it or not? It was difficult to tell...
Yes good information.
At 7:43 he literally says “ I think I love this”, after explaining how great the group is at 100m with iron sights.
Last sentence in video "I love it!" previous to that you have a rant about quality of wood, mechanics and how this is a gun to pass on to your children. Dosen't get more positive than that.

Fantastic shooting and sweet fire stick.
I've been looking for a good reproduction of these for a while. The browning ones come with those horrible tang safeties and a hooded sight. I really want this rifle now.
my model 94 one of the last ones made in north haven Connecticut has a tang safety. I don't use it and it doesn't get in the way. No big deal!
Great shooting on that 100m target...congratulations on getting a great shooting rifle too...what was your load that you were shooting??
very nice shooting rifle! it was great to your excitement over its accuracy. congrats my friend and the videos get better and better!
Uplifting review. Love the 45/70. Thank you
Thanks for posting this, love the enthusiasm!
Enjoyed your video, right to the point and no bullshit, thanks.
A beautiful rifle and some good shooting!
you made me buy it and I'm HAPPY! 😉
awesome shooting with those sights! I have the Henry 45-70 that came with the semi-buckhorn rear sight. My old eyeballs wouldn't work well with it, so I installed a peep sight. For me, much better.
If only I could be as excited in my videos .lol. Great shooting. Most people swear you cant get that good of accuracy with a lever gun.
like I've already commented elsewhere in this video I saw my uncle shoot one half a mile away with a model 94 in 32 Winchester special. he hit the buck in the neck at the base
Half mile ? sure...

Love this channel, wish I could shoot all those awesome guns.
Beautiful rifle and great shooting. Such a nice rifle, Congrats. I want one now. 😉
I would appreciate the presentation of Spencer rifle in near future if is possibile, thanks
That rifle looks and sounds awesome
The 444 Marlin comes from the 44 Magnum wich is already a very good round (I love shooting my S&W 29!). The Pedersoli is a high quality firearm! Nice finish and built tough... Great round and great gun: perfect combo!
A beautiful instrument in the hand of a fine marksman.
Thanks for the nise Demo! Today i order this Rifle in my Gunstore... Viva Petersoli 🤠
Excellent rifle and excellent shooting. Take care & God bless.
Amazing group. I cant do that with my CZ 452 Ultra Lux at 50m! I've always wanted one of these Pedersoli's. About $2500 Australian to buy here. Thanks for the video!
Beautiful rifle and great shooting,
Good shooting
congrats on your beautiful new rifle
I like the 45/70 BUT! Can you imagine the same gun in 300 win mag! I'd be the first to buy 2 of them.
Well done, Sir. Nice rifle.
Great rifle, great cartridge and great shooting! It makes you wonder if modern rifles offer much more at "fair chase" hunting ranges.
