    There is an overriding clutch in the transfer case,
    that kicks the front axle in. Remove axle front driveshaft and the front housing off the transfer case simply clean the clutch the front axle will engage fine again.

      @@macbook802 wrong as a person who plows drive the front axel provides a great amount of traction when getting unstuck if that front axel was engauged it may have been able to pull its self out

      @@thebad300 I drive in the mud loaded with rocks and I never have front wheel drive and sometimes I don’t even get the luxury of being able to lock all of the duals. I’ve been stuck but never more than a few inches in a long time. Over the course of about 17 years I’ve been stuck 5 times and have been able to fix it with a Ford or a shovel

    I feel your pain. This is about what my week has been after I busted 4WD on my plow truck. With bald tires and a plow on the front with no 4WD I was getting stuck on flat ground (ice).

    We just put in a road for a house site with 2 springs running under the road bed. Ended up building the road with surge (6 inch) before a truck would stand up on it. Wish all the creek rock wasn't gone. That worked better than anything and the smaller stuff bonded up with the large and made a smooth surface. Fix the 5-ton.

    That sink hole looks like a good place for the load of rock. maybe 10 more loads and you will have the sink hole full of rock. :-)

    Dieselman8v92 actually hit on some of the problem when he said the word, 'tired',...that's what the AM General needs, good mud gripping tires,...Well, that mud would almost stick a tank, I'm thinking.

    What's wrong with the 6x6 is it broken both that it would've gotten it out of there but it probably would've helped haha. Don't worry we got about 70 inches of snow in the last 3 weeks all I've been doing is getting one tons unstuck Bobcats unstuck and our occasional backhoe pullout to so I know how it feels haha

    The bugger here is that you are pulling up; fighting against gravity as well, and mud having a kind of suction to it... Pulling level and you would've just fought against friction...

    Chain truck to counterweight. Sink frost ripper. Pull with arm and tracks simultaneously.
    Really only helpful if tracks are otherwise spinning.

    Wow, it was in there pretty good! How much did you lower the tire pressure? those super singles can go down pretty far, and that will help with traction. They actually sell manual locking hubs for the rockwell axles, its a good way to by pass that air/lever lock. (I assume thats what went wrong with the front end?

      Anywhere from 1200×,1400×,and 1600× are the best Tires on Off-Road for a Military Truck.

    Could be worse though. Like a 18yd end dump trailer that can't be dumped without rolling it on hwy traffic. I've seen it.

    the 6x6 isn't working , the front axle wasn't even pulling(that was only part of the problem I'm sure). maybe ya coulda used some tire chains(ha ha).that stuff looked pretty sloppy not much left there for traction.

    Sounds like you need to invest in a bigger Dumptruck with 2 more axles to spread out the load. I've seen M1070 8x8 HETTS converted to dumptrucks.

      Good tires and 4x4 doesn't mean you won't get stuck. It just means you'll get stuck farther and deeper

    Is the t-case messed up? Doesn't look like the front axle is pulling. Lockers would help too. Have a M925A1 and some xmls sitting in the barn just need a dumpbed.

    Why you tyrna pull it out without drive to the truck ??, that's the best way to pull the bumper clean off !!

      You can’t pull that bumper off, those pintles are bolted to the truck frame. These are used to air lift the truck.

      The same, for all intents and purposes.
      But pulling with both the boom and the bucket curl is stronger than pushing. Research breakout power.

      justfakeit888 I'm not saying the truck is junk, but it has been aggressively used and abused at times. With some love it could be a better truck but depending on how much they use a haul truck off-road it may just be better to get an actual off road dump truck.

    Sorry to make a comment about being slow in the head, but dump the rock and lighten the truck up and it would come right out with a little help. I have done and done the same thing over and over before, and where the rock is dumped, it will be needed to firm up that soft spot anyway.
    My God and this guy who goes by let's dig or something speaks like he's a pro, but so very far from it.

    just so everyone knows. how they hooked up that chain is super risky. if you were to do this on a regular pickup you run the risk of folding your frame in since there is pressure pulling the two points together and truck frames are not made to resist that type of pressure
