After a year or so, I hope you are still happy with your purchase. :) I KNOW colour mixing, I do love colour mixing, but honestly, those people, who use very basic palette, they just limit themselves in a way, and even professionals getting be bored and boring after a while, just because of the very limited palette. This is really nice to look at but knowing me, I'd be overwhelmed by getting a set of 100 colors. I got a 72 Prismacolor set for my birthday and if I want to color something with them, I'm always clueless, which color to use, when I look at the pencils. I made a swatch, but there are so many inbetween colors that are just slightly different, that I really struggle to make a choice. So, having that many watercolors would give me a lot of trouble I guess xD But I'm sure that amount is cool for you and it's still nice to see/have such a large palette :D
MichyChanArt Yeah same, I generally only use a split primary set so that I get the purest pigment mixes. The more colors you use the less "together" a piece feels as well...
One of the reasons why I like to have a LOT of tubes of colour is because if I run out of a mixed colour halfway through painting it's so hard to get that colour again perfectly. Or if I really love a colour I made from one piece of art and want to use it in a different piece I'm pretty much screwed.
Im rewatching all your old videos and I feel so good. Awww, thank you Sandra! I'm so happy to hear you enjoyed it. I'm so glad there are others who like watching paint squeezed out of a tube as much as me. ♥
I got this set last year for my birthday, and I love them!! I managed to find a beautiful metal palette that's only 9 1/2 x 4 3/4 that will hold 84 half pans (Etsy seller paper and paint art, studio palette--comes with 48 full pans, but the seller will actually switch that to 84 half pans for a small charge) so I left out 12 colors (black, white, and any colors containing white). The palette was a bit pricey, but it makes this set so easy to use because it's so compact. I also made a chart that fits inside the lid so it's easy to see which paint is where
I checked out those palettes, and they're beautiful! That's a great idea to narrow things down - those colors with white can really mess with overall transparency when you're working. Thanks so much for telling us about the awesome palettes!
I'm a new art student with water colors and paint in general. I have found it fun and infomative to just use the 3 primary colors to learn color theory. But to see all of your colors is intense. Thats great!
This was so satisfying to watch, thanks for sharing! I got the student line set of 24 (la petite aquarelle) for christmas and I am in love with these paints as well. Having the honey in these paints really makes them enjoyable to use, thanks for showing us your custom palette
I just bought 150 fall pans off Amazon and a 12 set of watercolors! My plan is to use 130 or so and mix a bunch of colors! I wanted to see if anyone else has done something similar and you are the only one that has made their own large set!
I bought this box in June 2017 from Jackson's Art also ( I am in Canada). This is the best gift from myself to myself I ever had :-) They have really good prices !
i needed a soothing video to play in the background while i was drawing and youtube randomly recommended this video to me. i started it without checking when it was posted and only went to check that when you mentioned that you had only 'recently' acquired these paints and would post an art work the next week, hoping that it was at least a week old and the next video was already out only to then discover this was 6 years ago aksjakjsajsk

i am one of these people who HATE to mix colours. I love having many tubes with different colours over mixing. Some paints are not even mixing all that well the colours are muddy especially when you mix too many colours at once or if it's cheaper and lower quality paint so when you have lots of different colours in tubes or pans you can just use them without mixing much
So so fun. I'm glad you went out of the lines when you swatched them. I always end up a little messy and my fingers would have several colors of paint on them . I can't wait to see you use them in a painting. Just found your channel tonight
i just got an 18 set of watercolours it was an early Christmas present but i wanted to use them t make a Christmas present for my sister and now i absolutely love watercolours. It is my first time using watercolours and im so happy
I got this box set for Christmas and it was so intimidating that I put off squeezing them into pans foreverrrr. I JUST got them all out and did swatches :D I bought 2 tin palettes rather than have them all in one.
It works for me! I like having two palettes that can easily be stored when I'm done. I can have one tin for my most used colors and the other tin for "specialty" colors. Just more convenient for me since I don't have the space for a huge studio palette :)
The best water colours i have ever purchased came from a very unusual place for me. I was in St . Petersburg Russia and saw this small tin of palet paints. I usually use tube paints but the colours really stood out and were so vibrant. There was no name on the box and they were not that costly but I have to admit they are the bext water colours I own, very versatile and smooth, but most of all its the actual colours that amazed me and you can see why so many of the important churches are so wonderful colour wise. I am now looking for a supplier to by tube paints with the same quality.
I have a little tip for you! There’s an app called wish where you can get a whole bunch of half pans( I don’t know if they have full pans) for about 1-5 dollars(It’s usually just one dollar plus 2 dollars shipping). Just thought you should know, maybe you can save some money!
Oh gosh, what is with youtube tempting me with all this paint porn today?!?! I’ve been wanting this set so bad and I have zero money for it. Also! Pro tip! I write all my color names on a piece of masking tape and then snip up the individual colors and wrap them around the outside of the pans. I’ve got a couple palette setup videos if the way I described it doesn’t make sense (probably my studio Travel palette vid shows it mos clearly.). I ALWAYS label my pans because I’ve dropped a whole palette setup before and without my labels I never would have know. What each color was. =;_;= Also, for next time....I think you learned the hard way that it’s easier if you put the Velcro/magnet/adhesive on the pan before filling them. =>.
Oh! Also! I recently learned that green earth/terre verte is made with a pigment that’s naturally super hard to reactivate once dried so it’s pretty much guaranteed that when you use it from a pan rather than a tube it’s gonna be real light. Wheeeee, facts!!!
Ahhh, thank you for this awesome comment! I definitely want to take a breath and make myself label pans in a way that makes sense in the future. Thanks for the tip!
arleebean I think I’ve found ONE terre vert that re wets well, and that’s holbein’s. But that’s because even when holbein paint is “dry,” it’s still a bit tacky. I also noticed that they used a different pigment in their gouache vs their watercolor of the same name and I’m not sure which is the “true” pigment. I’m a Travel palette nut, so if you ever come across difficulties with a palette setup or you want to bounce ideas back and forth I’m sooooo game. Seriously, I started making three separate palettes last night alone because I was bored, not because I in any way need more. =>.
Gorgeous set of colours! Interesting how some tubes pour out very thin and runny while others are like thick like peanut butter. I've got quite a few Sennelier colours that takes days to firm up in a pan. And a few cobalts that are completely separated in the tube and can't easily be used until stirred.
Sennelier is one of my fave brands of watercolors. Another thing to note is if you lay it too thickly, for any reason, it tends to stay sticky. I wasn't aware of the set of colors, good price too.
My OCD was driving me insane because you didn’t color inside the lines but I still love all the beautiful colors and the video was amazing! So awesome!
EthnicHub She actually colored over that line to check the opacity/transparency of each individual color! Some pigments are more opaque and so artists chose which color to use based on the piece they have in mind!
I might be crazy but watching the paint flow into the pans was a real treat for my eyes! Some flow really well like honey *yum*. Thanks for the fantastic video! I could watch paint filling pans all day >.
Omg I didn’t know you could make the palette pan thingys with tubed watercolors. I thought that youd have to like buy refills but now that i know this it’s probably easier too
M Graham make watercolors with honey as well, but they can get quite runny when traveling and in hot climate, but for studio they are great! I love big palettes as well but I like to customize mine, have a good base colors and then get the ones that I like, sometimes from different brands, cause all the same colors in different brands perform differently and I like it.
here in the Philippines, the small pan is quite expensive so I advise you to use medicine pill box instead and there are pretty cheap and easy to find.
Today I stumbled upon your video. I thought it was great to see someone else had the same idea as I had and create their own palette. Then I spotted the date you uploaded this: Feb 18th. I posted my homemade palette on Instagram on Feb 17th! So we were both working on our own palette box at the same time!! :D
I did a swatch page for each of the 5 colour ranges - reds, blues, yellows, greens and neutrals... I marked in the opacity of each... so when I make a palette of them, I’d put the opaque ones opposite to the transparent ones to use in different style painting. I like your idea of separating the warm vs cool too. Don’t the swatches make you drool? I put mine in plastic protective sleeves in a file. I love just looking at them... I got mine from Jackson’s too. Love Jackson’s great prices compared to Australia.
First I was like i'm buying this then you said no more opera rose and thats my fav color so I guess thats a good thing my husband won't kill me now!!!Enjoy!
How much did it cost in USD? How much was the shipping? Did you have to pay a customs tax? How long did it take to ship to you? I too have thought about ordering from jacksons.
My total order was $307 USD with shipping, and shipping was approximately $18 of that. To my knowledge, there was not an additional customs tax. From the time I placed the order to when the paints arrived was about a week. I was pleasantly surprised by the whole process! :]
I got this set for around $285 AUD this was with a 10% discount and free shipping because it was my first order the actual price was $315. I wasn't sure i needed so many colours but i couldn't get over that it averaged out to $2.85 for a 10ml tube when to buy them seperatley its $5.43. Also it's really fun putting together palettes when you have the full 98 colours including Opera rose to choose from. I also just checked and the price has gone down since i have bought it, now its $302AUD. I'm not sure why for everywhere else sennelier much more expensive, every other brand of paint for us is more expensive though.
I only paint whit 8 colours. Alizarin crimson,Cadmium primary Yellow, ultramarine blue, tittanium white, intense black,Silver, gold and Magenta. I know watercolours don,t come in silver and gold thats so sad😭 i have these colours for my watercolours and my oil paints. I love you,re sennelier pallet
Asmi 34 a small pallet of 12 or 14 colours is enough... I actually have dark magenta, red, orange, lemon yellow (that I don't use often), a more pigmented yellow, a brown yellow (sorry I'm not english I don't know the translation xD), terra brown, dark brown, green, turquoise, dark turquoise blue, dark blue and black (so 14 colours). I'd recommend to add a purple though because I hardly have a nice purple by mixing my colours :3 And with those colours I paint fictional characters and flowers so I think it's good for paint anything ^^
Derwent is good, but you can find cheaper paper at pretty much every art supplies store, and it tends to be good quality ! It's maybe not the best if you want to paint large scenes with lots of water tho
canson paper is cheap and sucks. get 100% cotton rag paper. arches is some of the most AMAZING high quality paper you can buy. paper is SO SO SO important and can elevate a good painting into a great painting!!!!
I was a bit confused at first, because all those yellows look pretty much the same to me. But then I'm not an artist. I guess it makes sense for mixing and shadowing to have all those different shades.

Oh my.... this is like a candy store!!! I’m so excited for you. Please post some of the work you’ve done with these.
Sennelier is one of my fave brands of watercolors. Another thing to note is if you lay it too thickly, for any reason, it tends to stay sticky. I wasn't aware of the set of colors, good price too.
I wanna try these amazing coloured watercolours. I love love love the colours
The fact that spraying enamel, etc isn't required makes me love this video.
I ordered a 48 set of watercolors and I thought that was the most I'd ever get at once. Now I must raise the bar because this set looks amazing.
Abbylink you don't really need like 90+ colours tho. But do whatever you want
cafedragon it's not so much need as a fun thing to think about having. 😊
If you hold it lower in one place it helps to have a smooth top and fills all the spaces ( looks more clean well for me)
Oh my gosh, that is beautiful! I am in love with sennelier!
Soooo pretty. Defiantly going to put these watercolors on the wishlist.
This video is so relaxing and now I kinda want to start painting again
My OCD was driving me insane because you didn’t color inside the lines but I still love all the beautiful colors and the video was amazing! So awesome!
EthnicHub She actually colored over that line to check the opacity/transparency of each individual color! Some pigments are more opaque and so artists chose which color to use based on the piece they have in mind!
I might be crazy but watching the paint flow into the pans was a real treat for my eyes! Some flow really well like honey *yum*. Thanks for the fantastic video! I could watch paint filling pans all day >.
What I did for mine was write on the side and then put tiny piece of clear tape over it. Barely noticable 👍
That’s what I do for those Christmas tags ink tends to smear so tape over names fix it!
OH MY HOPE I JUST REALISED ONE OF THE MOST RELAXING VIDS IVE SEEN WAS MADE BY YOU HOW DID I NOT CONNECT THE DOTS
OMG ,what a collection that is .It is very impressive😱😱😵😵👍👍
My best watercolours are made in Russia, they're very pigmented, very beautiful colours, and the hole paint itself is just great!
I scream when that red paint dropped! That's such a dream to have that many colors in a pallete ㅠㅠ
God, I could watch videos like this forever
I love colors and painting with watercolor 😍😍😍
writing down the color on pans is good idea o_o its whole lot easier than making color chart! thank u for the idea!
This video was unbelievably relaxing.
The Blue Purple and Pink swatch were my favorite
I fainted when I saw all of those colors... It's beautiful...
here in the Philippines, the small pan is quite expensive so I advise you to use medicine pill box instead and there are pretty cheap and easy to find.
arleebean wow!!! That's amazing!!!
Wow!😂. These paints cost my whole school year fee! What the heck?!
+arleebean That price though is more than my almost what I earn for an entire month for working. 😱
+arleebean That price is almost as much as what I earn in a month from working. 😱 Must be some really good watercolors.
بعشق الالوان والفرشات واعشق الرسمة التي ارسمها تعطي احساس رائع
I really like these paints :0
Maybe I could get it for graduation gift 😍
That voiceover was so entertaining 😍
Such a calming and beautiful video 💖 Have a lot of fun with your new toys 😊
You provably already know the answer for you pen, but a fine tip Sharpie works. I tried several and this seemed to work the best for me.
Oh man, I am in love with the selection. Thank you for the video.
This is the best thing İ have seen ever
for a beginner, what colours would you recommend getting first? also, i love your art!
I'd recommend to add a purple though because I hardly have a nice purple by mixing my colours :3
And with those colours I paint fictional characters and flowers so I think it's good for paint anything ^^
Chlorophylle Thank you so much !! ^^
All them colours so glorious and amazing
brilliant idea on the "sticky things." I have some of those and will so use them. thanks!
I use a Brother ptouch labeler for naming my pans
Oh god thanks for the toothpick trick. I have always had issues with the binder seperating from the paint....thank you so much
What is a good watercolor paper that doesn't crinkle up and what is a good inexpensive watercolour brand
Derwent is good, but you can find cheaper paper at pretty much every art supplies store, and it tends to be good quality ! It's maybe not the best if you want to paint large scenes with lots of water tho
Hahnemühle, Canson are really really good quality!!❤️
💯 cotton. All the way. Wood pulp papers like canson or Strathmore no good. Use cotton . Spend the money. You will never be sorry.
Canson makes the best paper
canson paper is cheap and sucks. get 100% cotton rag paper. arches is some of the most AMAZING high quality paper you can buy. paper is SO SO SO important and can elevate a good painting into a great painting!!!!
The gold one (599) looks like a super thick caramel sauce!
Ooooh, ahhhhhh! I love Sennelier. I only have a student set, but they are lovely too.
This set looks awesome! I need it! 💕
I was a bit confused at first, because all those yellows look pretty much the same to me. But then I'm not an artist. I guess it makes sense for mixing and shadowing to have all those different shades.
