"They spend millions, or maybe even billions in some circumstances, on marketing to make you convinced that somehow that sugar in that water will make you cool, or trendy, or you'll have more friends, or you'll be better looking"
God I love this guy and his sense of sarcasm!

The best duopoly example can be the graphics cheap manufacturer company; Nvidia and AMD. And the monopolistic competition can be seen in the tech brand like asus, msi, gigabyte, sapphire etc that uses that cheap to make graphics accelerators as there are various change in their same type of products.

For anybody revisiting this in 2023, apply this knowledge to the grip Blackrock and it’s counterparts have on the private sector having majority shares in 88% of the companies on the S&P. They use this voting power en masse working with their counterparts to force their agenda onto large companies, this agenda is widely known but it’s origins are unclear. What we do know is that the government (FED) is beholden to/facilitating this agenda which makes our Oligopoly far more sinister, it’s outright Fascism. Instead of voting in favor of the interests of the companies they own, Blackrock and its counterparts vote in favor of what advances their own business agenda which consists of both foreign and domestic pension funds. This mix of private and public money causes an undeniable conflict of interest that 1.) is highly illegal and 2.) hurst both ends of the spectrum, enriching only the Bureaucrats and hyper-billionaires that manage these firms.
Please God do not take my word for it, do the research yourself and ask yourself how different we are then Fascist Italy and Nazi Germany.

coke and Pepsi is not really an duopoly as it competes with drinking water and any other sources of liquid we drink. it's kind of a bad example.
real duopoly that can harm or restrict society is fedex and ups duopoly. no one really can just jump in and compete very easily. it may only create an oligopoly but still similar thing.
