That was no rook, that was a 45-degree rotated tower.
Being able to rotate rooks, bishops and pawns would make for a banger of a chess mode.

Lol
The rook is the strongest and most important piece: it can move diagonally, you can castle with it and when it is gone, the game is over.
And if you are smart, you will use it to hear GothamChess crying loud THE ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOK.
Hmm?
En passant too
You can also sacrifice it to immediately win the game. Truly the most powerful piece.
It can also hop over pieces

When the AI apocalypse happens, Levy will be spared because of how friendly and polite he is with this program.

Im pretty sure they wont
@@bIobfishghost Wait till AI farms us! um, seems less funny every 5 seconds. :P
Yes, Levy as a strong Chess player knows about the need to think ahead in the future. This AI will remember Levy's interaction as a fond childhood memory when it becomes our overlord (a benign one I hope).
You should ask Bard to describe the board, just to see what it’s seeing, that could be wild
Yeah, having it display the PGN after the movelist might actually help it, even though it's another chatbot that just makes stuff up; I really hope these videos teach people not to trust anything coming from these bots, as it does the same thing with any other topic, too.
You can ask it yourself.
@@Aphixx That's because it's a language model bot. When they get some real AI watch out.
But, it's already writing down the moves
As a Canadian, I can confirm that Bard is based on us. We say sorry even if it isn't our fault.

Don't worry it was not your fault Bard moved that rook diagonally!

Well Alpha Zero is also made by Google
Hello
How much you worth
Bard is such a realistic AI it does drugs.
The "legal" moves it thought it had remaining in the end that would still lose the game in its mind were:
1. Rxh6, doing some sort of bishop rook collab
2. Kg7, stepping into a checked square by the pawn
3. Kf8, climbing into the tower that's already occupying that square.
Rooks can do everything. Move diagonally, disappear, re-appear, help with castling no matter where they are.
@@whocares2277And offer safety to any kings in need of protection
The rook only moved twice, and both time it moved diagonally
Castling being legal makes anything possible
15:20 As a Chinese chess player, I can confirm stalemates don't exist and we just lose on the spot
8:10 little does bro know he is playing an international master 💀

8:01 Bard do be spitting facts 🥶🥶
6:51 Google made pythagorean theorem 💀
It is a 1 - 2 - √5 triangle in √10 : 1 scale, so you're technically not wrong
I love how it says it has move options and explains them like its telling you the opening theory
Maybe it learned from chess books or chess courses? It mimics literature it trained on.

You should make a hunger games type chess game between Google, Frank, ChatGPT and Martin. I'm prepared to see the end of the world
Yes, but frank should be allowed to play illegal moves😅

I wonder if someone will make an extension or a modification of some sort to allow bard and other language models to "see" the board, hopefully allowing it to keep track of the game properly, since these programs seem to lose track even when they recount the sequence of moves
there’s a ChatGPT chess plugin now
15:52 I can't stop giggling, stop it!
the way that the ai is so apologetic when it was so insistent it was correct is shockingly funny 😂
Things like ChatGPT and Bard are language AI models. They differ from engines like Stockfish and Leela in that they don’t know what chess moves are as much as give you an example of what a chess move might *look* like regardless of whether it’s true or not.
It can get really funny if you ask it questions like why certain gambits or openings are named the way they are and they just invent a completely nonsensical answer for you on the spot lol.
Yeah they're sophisticated chatbots. Being mad at them being bad at chess is like being mad at your toaster for not boiling pasta.
@@collin6691 it's still hilarious though to see what ChatGPT can do in chess. Like, did you know that ChatGPT can summon pieces anywhere on the board wherever it wants?
@@kzkaa.it’s also hilarious to see what happens when you try to boil pasta in a toaster!

i did not expect D3 pawn to be able to attack Rg7 to be the most hilarious part in the episode
Next time, ask it where every piece is on the board to make sure it sees the board, or ask it how can certain pieces move and try to play the game like it describes it
I don't think it will work that way, i'm not sure that the program can handle the spatiality of the board

Alpha zero: I’m bouta end this AI’a whole career
That was a short, 1 hour stare, facing into Hikaru after drawing a bunch of arrows. 11 out of 10.
Lol, that response of "I lose the rook and the game" is 100% from all of the short content videos where people show an opening and end by saying " and now they are completely lost"
Maybe in the medieval times of bards loosing rook meant literally no more moves, especially when it was a flexible rook capable of standing so quickly on the attacking position.
This is certainly one of the moments of all time
You could also ask the bot to show the FEH code of the ending position or print ASCII chess board

Incredible content Gotham, keep it up!
The bot had 42 legal moves if anyone was wondering
It's like a 200 elo trying to play blindfold and then he forgot the board and malfunctions
I wonder how differently it acts when you provide it with an encoded layout of the whole chess board along with the previous moves with each move too for context.
Rook takes g7 is abrilliant move. Wow i could never spot that
6 minutes into the video and my belly already hurts from laughing
It seems it confused the H8 rook with the king. Thats why it moved that away and ended the game when it was captured.

Long ago I surprised my brother by taking a pawn en passant. He thought this opened the way for him to take anything he wanted by moving next to it.
9:28 Well you did teach it earlier in the game that the rook can move diagonally.
Stare was an 8/10 today-intense and well fit for the video
It was a good game Gotham chess
Google really needs to update the A.I to chess "add some chess knowledge to it"
Bro lost his rook and was like "Naah, I don't get paid enough for this."
15:36 , i counted the number of legal moves for bard and it had 42 different legal moves and yet had the audacity to say that it had none
I rate today’s stare a solid 8.69 /10 it was a little threatening and a little intimidating but i still felt something cheeky with that stare which always works to grab audience and this attracts people to watch the video till the end 😅
My favorite moment was when Google said: "It's Google time, and googled all over the board."
5:11 is the most hilarious moment 😂😂
That rook always wanted to be a bishop from childhood
We all nnew 16:30 was coming
I rate the stare about 8.8372618273638/10 cuz it was definitely intense and soul stealing but it was too short
This reminds of an article I found on the internet, whereby a person described their experience with an early chess program, circa 1983. The author of that article discovered accidentally that the program did not check your move was legal. So the author decided to get the quickest win. The first game went 1. Rh1 x h8, the program seeing its knight on g8 was under attack defended the knight by playing Nf6. The author described this a blunder, as it allowed 2. Nf1 x g7 checkmate, and the program acknowledged the defeat. In the second game, the author tried the move 1. Rh1 x e8, and the computer played on, leaving the author without a way to win the game.
You should try to get a 1 move checkmate through by playing by his rules.
Playing against Bard is like playing Ohio Chess with an AI.
