@2:03 you mention VA's proposal to change how Mental Health is assessed. You say that you have other videos in your library that addresses the proposed VA changes. I would recommend linking those videos here, in your description. Thank you very much for your videos!!
Thank you very much. Always great information. I am 67 and just started making a claim for MH. I have tinnitus at 10% already. Slowly but surely. Thank you again.
Hi, first off I want to say thank you for assisting Vetrans. I filed a PTSD claim and filled out the forms with rough dates of my deployment to Saudi Arabia and when I feel my situation occurred. I also submitted documentation from a psychologist who supports my claim, I have all the classic symptoms from her evaluation. its been 6 months and I just received a notice the VA wants rough times the situation occurred, my unit where we were deployed. these pieces of information were already included with the initial forms. What is my best steps to take now?
I am fairly satisfied with my mental health support from the VA. But on a side note - wish my Sleep Apnea claim in 2014 wasn't denied after my VA psychologist literally told me to my face I have PTSD caused Sleep Apnea. But after my sleep study, the VA denied the claim, and I did not know at the time I could appeal the claim. So here I am 8 years latter... still using my VA issues CPAP and taking meds to help me sleep and deal with PTSD - yet no claim support.
@@Slow_Hand_Luke Understandable but what does that have to do with the outcome of my actual claim 8 years ago? Was it denied because I did not figure this out?
Yeah had you kept appealing since 2014 you would of kept your claim alive and get a nice backpay. But besides the backpay, you should try to file for sleep apnea again secondary to PTSD if you say you getting ptsd rating already especially with you having a cpap. I would also look at all your claims ( like if you getting tinnitus, insomnia, etc) and put those too as a reason your sleep apnea was key word “ aggravated “. Remember file those on the VA supplemental form and get a VA support form to go with it explaining how sleep apnea makes you feel. If you do that you can still get approved just no back pay. Hurry cause they trying to change sleep apnea ratings.

I’m getting 30% for TBI, they asked you about the event and some cognitive questions to gauge your responsiveness, mine also ask me to read back words he was showing me. He would say “rabbit “ and ask you to repeat. Obviously if you can read everything perfectly then you probably won’t get a rating for TBI.

I have a question. I was just medically retired and awarded 100% p&t. My doctors know my meds and physical therapy haven’t been beneficial and I have nothing scheduled. I have never been a fan of being on meds, and my doctors have no solutions. Do I need to keep scheduling things if there is no treatment plan? Are my benefits safe if I just work on my own recovery? I wouldn’t be missing any appointments, I just don’t want to keep making more without having a treatment plan.
Blu, that is an excellent question, hopefully it is answered. But, please don't add frustration nor anxiety if it doesn't, or not in the time frame of your expectations. Take care fellow Veteran.
. Only based on own experience with VHA over 50+ years, one needs to seek help from MDs in the regular medical professional quarter. VA is only interested in keeping Vets medicated as it’s the CHEAPEST way to ‘treat’ mental health conditions! .
@@Slow_Hand_Luke yea this is one of the two main reasons why I haven't put in a claim. Fuck meds, and also don't know if it would affect my employability with the government.
This topic of mental health is a very slippery slope, especially in this day and age. Denials causes a disposition of "Acting Out" because of the need or greed of financial gain. PTSD, combat PTSD and non-combat PTSD are indicators of mental health issues; factor in personal, family, friends, covid, sex are all inclusive of the topic. Help must come from professionals that are sensitive to the issues and not with the mindset of just "Going To Work Today"
It can be very frustrating to be denied because you weren’t seeking treatment and they don’t take into consideration COVID shut downs or isolation mentality.
