For some reason I'm unable to find any automatic automatic mx-5s online my wife's birthday is coming up and wanted to get her, her dream car but she's unable to drive stick 😅 if anyone could point me to a site or something that would be amazing
All USDM Miatas came with a drivers side airbag, even in late 89 when they first came out. Also limited slip differentials only came with the manual transmissions. In order for this one to have a LSD it had to have been swapped. And grand nationals only came in auto. There was never a manual option
At least in north america only the early 1600 automatics (1990-93) were slightly detuned to 105 horse power. From 1994 onwards with the release of the 1800 engine, they were identical to the manual. I've owned three: '92,' 90 eunos and currently a 2001. They are only 2-3 seconds slower overall. Acceleration is a little softer due to having taller gearing. If you make use of the lockout overdrive/hold switch. They are still fun to drive and toss around corners. Best thing is try one for yourself and form your own conclusion. They are just as reliable as the manuals.
My daughter has a 95 red Miata with automatic. It’s not M but it’s loaded out with everything: hardtop, cruise, AC, power windows, PB, PS, PM, leather, also still new soft top and boot.
out of topic; how do you put your rx7 on jack-stands? cause when i lift mine up, the jack is inthe way. can't move it more inwards because then i start bending something that goes along the rocker panel.
I drove a 97 Miata for several months with a 5 speed, it was awesome. I’m currently driving my own 94 with the 4 speed auto. I hate it. On the plus side, parts for the manual swap are prolific and cheap! Only good thing about it is the body is in good shape and it came with a hardtop for cheap. It’s going under the knife this weekend to get that 5 speed life started and I can’t wait to rescue it from the grip of its slushbox.
They aren't bad but I swapped my 1995 1.8 auto trans for a 5 speed and don't really regret doing it & you are wrong about the lsd my automatic Miata was an open diff 1.8 the 5 speed factory came with an lsd not the auto
A1does had to buy the clutch & brake pedals the clutch line clutch master slave cylinder clutch flywheel and pressure plate and the driveshaft works from the auto. Only wiring is the reverse lights and neutral safety switch.
I'd say manual if you're the type of person that likes to go drive for no reason and really want to be connected with the car. Auto if you have a heavy commute, or just want to drive without thinking.
xTheNameisEthan so it can get beat on and drifted ? Then it will just be another tuner drift missile ... I say keep it stock and it will be worth way more money
Gooseboys first of all why does it have to get beat on just because it’s manual? Second of all nobody wants an automatic Miata they aren’t worth much now and they won’t be worth shit ever
@@xTheNameisEthan it's a 120 hp car, why the hell would a manual make a difference, if it was a hellcat challenger, yeah I'd want the manual, if I was buying a drift car 240sx, yeah I'd want the manual. rock man stfu
@@Tocky0049 every car is a mans car due to man thinking everything fun
I think all the miatas from 1990 to 1997 have at least a drivers side airbag
Mine doesn't shift immediately now when I put it in gear to take off .. it stays like in second gear for about a mile or two then shifts .. or if I let it warm up for like 3 minutes it shifts .. just had the transmission flushed and fluid changed didn't help it .. any ideas.
My 95 is a 5 speed, same color and it was a lot cleaner than that when I got it stock
im looking at a 95 soon and its an automatic, anything i should look for other than rust and ticking
For some reason I'm unable to find any automatic automatic mx-5s online my wife's birthday is coming up and wanted to get her, her dream car but she's unable to drive stick 😅 if anyone could point me to a site or something that would be amazing
What dose the S and L mean?
Automatic, no problem
Miatas are made to be molested its your own car just dont curb slap it & take care of it...
dont kid yourself auto miatas shouldnt exist bro lol
Sean Johnson ah another manual fanboy ? Wow nothing new ... update kid PDKs and new autos are faster and shift quicker than any human alive can ...
@@zakk5688 he's talking about first gen Miatas
can't fit in a manual, sadly got to get the automatic.
Funny you should say survive. I just picked up an 03 silver nb stock automatic with 33k super clean!
All USDM Miatas came with a drivers side airbag, even in late 89 when they first came out.
Also limited slip differentials only came with the manual transmissions. In order for this one to have a LSD it had to have been swapped.
And grand nationals only came in auto. There was never a manual option
so is the only thing that’s bad with an auto miata is it’s less powerful? i’m looking to get a 94 auto mx-5 just for a daily driver
Ima subscribe my Boi, dis good shit.
I have a question about the lights. Do they always pop out like that or can it stay in the hood?
For the NA (1990-1997) in order to turn the headlights on, you have to pop them up.
Was there ever made a 1995 RED Mazda Miata MX-5 M Edition with an Automatic transmission and no M Edition badge?
My daughter has a 95 red Miata with automatic. It’s not M but it’s loaded out with everything: hardtop, cruise, AC, power windows, PB, PS, PM, leather, also still new soft top and boot.
You're a genius! I thought this was an idiotic video at first but I really like this.
out of topic; how do you put your rx7 on jack-stands? cause when i lift mine up, the jack is inthe way. can't move it more inwards because then i start bending something that goes along the rocker panel.
fred renault I put it on the frame rail
aight, thanks
Miata's came with an Airbag since 1990. Unless you bought one in Europe or Japan.
I own one except mine is a 1996. It needs some body work and clear coat. And it's an automatic.
Do these automatics have the same reliability though?? Please answer my question
Yes I own one and daily it never had any trouble been 2 years now its a 94 with 147k on it runs like. New
I drove a 97 Miata for several months with a 5 speed, it was awesome. I’m currently driving my own 94 with the 4 speed auto. I hate it. On the plus side, parts for the manual swap are prolific and cheap! Only good thing about it is the body is in good shape and it came with a hardtop for cheap. It’s going under the knife this weekend to get that 5 speed life started and I can’t wait to rescue it from the grip of its slushbox.
hey! how did the swap go! was wondering if i could ask you a couple questions
@@LastChance0001 It’s been good, no worries with it so far
Great review!
I’m buying a Miata but idk if it’s automatic or not tbh
Nice video, well thought.
Over the winter I got a 97 M edition automatic with 145k miles and automatic for $600. I am upset its not manual...
They aren't bad but I swapped my 1995 1.8 auto trans for a 5 speed and don't really regret doing it & you are wrong about the lsd my automatic Miata was an open diff 1.8 the 5 speed factory came with an lsd not the auto
ruffus4924 hey how much did it cost to switch you're auto to manual?
A1does around 400 total
A1does had to buy the clutch & brake pedals the clutch line clutch master slave cylinder clutch flywheel and pressure plate and the driveshaft works from the auto. Only wiring is the reverse lights and neutral safety switch.
Bought a Miata a couple months ago would never buy an automatic Miata
Its called a possy rear.
I dont know how to spell it
Limited Slip is the correct term. Posi is short for Posi-traction which was a GM thing. Ford had their own called Traclok.
Look up Torsen. No clutches in those LSDs.
A daughters car.
Four speed??????
I'm trying to decide if I want a manual or an automatic.
Well if you enjoy driving, get a manual
ssbrosking36 manual, no doubt
Manual
ssbrosking36 lol all of the Manual fanboys
I'd say manual if you're the type of person that likes to go drive for no reason and really want to be connected with the car. Auto if you have a heavy commute, or just want to drive without thinking.
The lack of cold air intake made me crack up.
87k Miles is nice just manual swap it so it won’t be useless
xTheNameisEthan so it can get beat on and drifted ? Then it will just be another tuner drift missile ... I say keep it stock and it will be worth way more money
Gooseboys first of all why does it have to get beat on just because it’s manual? Second of all nobody wants an automatic Miata they aren’t worth much now and they won’t be worth shit ever
xTheNameisEthan when they are completely stock they are worth a lot to car collectors dumbass
@@xTheNameisEthan it's a 120 hp car, why the hell would a manual make a difference, if it was a hellcat challenger, yeah I'd want the manual, if I was buying a drift car 240sx, yeah I'd want the manual. But this miata is neither of those, it's a low powered convertible, meant to be enjoyed, so people like you racing about the manual and diminishing the automatic, need to get a reality check of what this car is.
@@Tocky0049 you're so lost and I truly feel bad for you, a Miata is one of the greatest drivers cars on the planet, it's at its best when you're shifting through the gears on a back road
I punched my monitor the moment I saw the title.
Then I apologized.
Then I punched it again in the first 5 seconds of the video.
omg an auto miata....what the hell
if someone is slipping or drifting a 30 year old car that person has problems. A MG midget isn't a sports car the miata isn't one as well
Matthew Vizcaino they are sports cars 👍
Turbotube So a MG midget isn't one as well also a fiat 124... toolbag
btw check oyt my insta @xan_carman ive started removing my dads rx8 engine
No autos came with an lsd
My 93 has an airbag on the steering wheel
You're right my automatic 93 Miata was completely stock when I bought it a month ago.
What about the 25th aniversarry edition i thought those had auto and lsd
@@MyNameHousefly I was talking about the old ones lol
Good vid tho
I bought a 97 stock that looks just as good as this one in white and it's a manual. People don't look hard enough.
no way sorry...the Miata manual is one of the best ever made so why ruin it with a slushbox?
Manuals are better!
Please dont buy this car
