My grandfather's brother was in the 747th Tank Battalion as a radio operator for M5 Stuarts and M3 halftracks. He went in on D-Day +1, where the 747th was attached to the 29th Infantry Division, and in all likelihood took part in the fighting in and around Insigny-sur-Mer. Though this impression is not his unit, it does give me some idea of what he might have worn and carried on him. Thank you for the insight!
