What happened was a waiter sat us in a section that was reserved for an event, but they were late for whatever reason. He didnt want to admit he made a mistake. A manager eventually explained what the problem was after 15 minutes.

Last time I was in Irvine, I stopped to pee and get a drink or something and got off the freeway and drove for 17 miles nothing but commercial buildings. Decide I can't wait, go behind a building. No one within a mile. First drop of pee, 2 squad cars appear. I zip up, talk to them, back on the freeway and pledging I will never step foot into Irvine again.

California server attitude to a T. During my career in the USAF, we moved all over the country and got to sample it. We never saw such hopelessly poor, anti-social, don’t care attitude as in SoCal. When we finally moved back to Omaha after three years, we went through culture shock. It was like everyone was having a great day and was polite and helpful. Everyone! When in fact, they were just being Midwesterners and we had normalized Cali anti-social interaction. My theory on Cali was that there were too many people consuming so much that nobody really cared. Result: an a-hole Bermuda Triangle… 😅😂
Servers are plenty nice in California. Does everyone seem like they're having a great day all the time? No, not everyone all the time. But they are nice, respectful, and professional, so they shouldn't be painted as a-holes.

If you’re at the Irvine Spectrum you should go to Fogo de Chão Brazilian Steakhouse. It’s all you can eat steak and like a kickass salad bar with charcuterie.

Ive never been to that Cheesecake Factory, but Ive had a similar experience on the East Coast. What happened was a waiter sat us in a section that was reserved for an event, but they were late for whatever reason.
He didnt want to admit he made a mistake. A manager eventually explained what the problem was after 15 minutes.
