I moved to calisthenic recently after dealing with lower back issues repeatedly for years while doing weights…
I find that my body is becoming more efficient as an entire unit rather than being just strong on very specific motion
I have a whole lot more respect for calisthenics now and I have been missing out my entire life.
My body can take much more intensity with calisthenics since there are no weights but my own and it’s not wearing down my lower back at all
Really happy with this style of training especially to help accommodate my conditions

@@dchaba154 don't even worry about max reps in the typical way that might allow you to do even 100. Make sure you are doing a fully controlled and not too fast movement up and also down, fight gravity for control on the way down just as on the way up. Hang at full extension every rep, you can even un-grip for a second if you want, just to ensure you are doing full, controlled pull ups all the way down and all the way up. If you can't do such a perfect, controlled, and complete pull-up, give yourself up to 5 minutes rest. If you want bigger results, try a couple with like 30lbs weight before you can't anymore and then switch back to body weight. Even after maxing out with extra weight, your body weight will feel like nothing for the first few reps without the extra weight.
If you are going for typical max reps, you have to avoid most of this, but that makes for a weaker and stranger exercise optimized to get to a high number for whatever reason. I mean I'm all for doing 100-200 pull ups in a session, but doing them with perfect controlled form makes it a much harder and more complete exercise. Also don't just do overhand pullups, do all sorts of stuff.

I think the most useful thing that comes from proper powerlifting practice is technique: you learn how to lift weights (especially heavy ones) without hurting yourself. Look at the bench press at the beginning and after tips: you don't just have to bench press, you have to use your whole body and, if you want to achieve the most, especially your feet.

Just shows how empty this chicken legs expression is. It only references appearance and not strength. Which is let's admit, very superficial. Not to mention you have millions of kids who think that if you don''t have thick legs, you are skipping leg day (even if you are super strong, you can slam dunk, you can sprint superfast, etc). All that does not matter, you just have to look "thick".

Those are not just impressive , those are elite level athlete stats. Of course a powerlifter would be much stronger in pure numbers but coming from another sport and doing these numbers is astonishing.
Know many....many calisthenics athletes and friends and almost none can lift this much specially in dead lift.

Andry you said you had some issue with bicep tendon in the past. Can you share some information on how you recovered and what did you do in particular to make it stronger and train again ?

Pure beast, didn't expect a sub 80kg dude to benchpress twice his body weight and do a squat and deadlifts in the heavyweight cat. Well done 👏 ✔️ 👍 👌

So I am a very short guy with a large build, in that I have very broad shoulders, large chest, and have have always been very heavy for my height. That had been a combination of very overweight combined with medical conditions, but recently have trimmed down over 30kgs, and nearly as light as I was in high school, but what I would like your advice on, is how does a short broad shouldered and generally muscly person adjust towards callisthenics?
For context, I am 5’6” and am now 87kgs compared to 118kgs a few years ago….
Oh and I used to bench press 120kg, and leg press 450kg when I was in my early twenties…. That was 20 years ago!

For a 73 kg dude lifting 135 kg is insane, considering he does not do this on a regular basis. Even if he was, that's extremely impressive.

Hi, nice video. Just to have a clear picture, how often do you train with barbell/dumbbells. I mean not recently, but overall. Hard to imagine this results with no weight training experience.

It looks like next to nothing, considering he had to teach him form on every lift. And it checks out, calisthenic athletes have a lot of pushing power, but not much leg strength.
