It's all in the weights you use. If you use weights that you can only do up to 5-6 reps with you'll gain strength but not much mass. So you have to constantly lift as heavy as possible. That's not super healthy so light weights for mobility and accessory exercises are needed. Think Olympic lifting. 70 kg guys snatching twice their body weight.

@@retardno002 True, key is not to keep your muscles under tension for very long to prevent hypertrophy taking place (muscle growth) at least to some extent. Downside of this kind of muscles (fast twitch) is that they tire out faster than slow twitch muscles that are activated in high rep(15+) workouts. Also I forgot to mention that high rep workouts don't activate hypertrophy almost at all.

The deadlifts are different, you can lift more in the sumo style (grip between the legs wide leg stance) compared to regular deadlift with the grip outside the legs "narrow" stance.. look at the distince of the lift, with sumo theres less travel required for the lift.

That's not true. Distance is relative depending on the length of one's limbs. Your argument basically says that people with different limb lengths aren't doing the same lift.

@@cody7889 and thats true. if your legs are shorter you have an advantage on deadlifts. any decent trainer knows this. now if you capitalize on that advantage with good training is a different story
