IAF was not used in 1962, the reason is that the government of that time believes that using IAF's offensive power will escalate the situation. That is the different case that India was in better position in terms of using Airforce's offensive capability.

Indian homegrown weapons need to prove themselves first. Russia talked a lot about its weapons, and now, none of those invincible and stealthy planes dare to cross the front lines. It is not home grown weapons that matter, but world class weapons or weapons that are more advanced than the next best that you can buy in the market.

American restrictions are why Pakistan cannot use its F-16s against India in offensive operations.

People in India spread fake news about US restrictions without any real proof. Just look at Israel. Nearly all of its equipment is US made and it is using it to do anything it wants even when US does not like it.

I appreciate ur thought about indigenous platforms.This is a reality that our indigenous weapon program was started by PM Modi through Make in India in 2014-15. All Indians now a days want that every weapon is made here. This is not possible bcoz defence complex takes lot of R &D and time to produce any weapon. I hope by 2047 we can achieve good amount of self-sufficiency in this field.

Another advantage of indigenous weapons we can see in Russia-ukraine war is that ukraine has to buy weapons and is heavily relied on western support. However, Russia simply boosts its production to meet its war needs.
If western coutries draw back, ukraine has no chance to win.
Same applies for India. If we rely on western weapons, in time of war we will have to buy them. However, if we make indigenous weapon systems, boosting production will allow us to stand even a long drawn conflict on our own.
Thats why pmo needs to get involved for fast tracking mk2 and amca projects.

F 16 is still a very capable fighter.
Imagine buying a decently powerful car but the man who thinks he is your father has control over the brakes.
Now imagine 2 rowdy dacoits start chasing you. And your father slams the brakes.

I agree ghandi are not in favour of India but what is motabhai doing. Recently I saw a recruitment advertisement of ADA where they are hiring retired govt officials for Tejas project and afaik they are going to work on mark 1a and amca as well. They are being hired on contract and that too for cruicial things like airframe. What is motabhai doing? Why are they not hiring better engineers for the indigenous product? They promote make in India but on ground they are not paying heed to the recruitment of such crucial projects.

We should develop our own platforms , whatever the no of failures. Even all major manufacturers have had failures , but that is not highlighted , its only with mistakes you finally master the tech. We have to always watch out for saboteurs within the country and also outside who want a depended country and buyer.

What is said is oof course right but the similar conditions applied to Pakistan for use of F16 and AAMRAMs against India. But Pakistan did use F 16 with AARAM against India during Balakot incident and we lost one Mig 21 as well. ( that Pakistan lost its F16 is another matter). So we can expect Ukraine to use F 16 inside Russian territories soon!!! 2. BTW, Atmanirbhar program is not without deep thinking of strings that come with such defense equipment being supplied by US!! Jai Hind!
Any country can use them as long as they are present but what happens if you run out of them then us will not provide you with new weapons and you will be left with only empty aircrafts
Its like gun without bullets and US has control over those bullets(weapons of f16) that's why india is developing its astra series missiles and even forcing western fighter jets like rafale and mirrages to be integrated with them because we can make as many astra missiles as we want according to our needs and even upgrade them with new technologies without permission.

Lagta hai aapne podcast waale bhaiya ko thik se nahi suna hai. Unhone ye kaha tha ki 114 mrfa mein don't go for twin engine fighter because it will add up life cycle cost. Go for single engine. Go for f21 or gripen. If you want to go with Tejas go for 500-600 tejas.
Focus on the Astra missile so that Air-to&aur capability of tejas is improved.

This is an incorrect apple to apple comparison. The basic premise is Ukraine is getting this aircraft as a grant from US indirectly, US has a say in it. Whereas in India's case, it will be purchased and in that case US would have a minimum say on the usability of the aircraft.
PS: I am firm believer that defence equipment should be indigenous.
