    It sure looks like that is a better engineered platform to mow from. My only concern would be with the longevity of the components- deck spindles, hydraulic drives, etc. MTD is not known for superior parts reliability. Thanks for sharing your experience.

    I love my Cub Cadet steering wheel zero turn. A regular zero turn just wasn’t possible to use on our property, but I wanted a zero turn. Five years now with no issues.

    Grass clipping on the road! Grass clippings on the road! The humanity. I was getting ready to grab my leaf blower and head east. 😋 Looks like a great mower.

    Thank you for not blowing grass on the road. I use to ride a motorcycle. And still have a lot of friends that ride.

      Yea, motorcycles and their riders are more special than anyone else on the road. They can go by at high rates of speed and rattle the windows out of the house. That's ok.

    Cool mower, but looks to me like a regular old cheap riding mower would mow that or an offset flail mower on the back of a compact tractor.

    That is an impressive mower for sure and a great value as well. Get on a Ventrac with eight tires then let me know what you think…. That is of course like comparing a formula one race car and a Ford pinto… 😂😂😂. I have owned 2ea 4500Z ventrac’s for 4-5 years and I swear they changed my life!!!! If anyone has many acres to mow nothing compares to them.

    Love a CCadet 72" 25 hp diesel with PTO to deck. On a large sweeping slope it approaches stability of a Ventrac, approaches but not matches. Thanks. God bless. TFS

  • @Goose2448
    @Goose2448 16 днів тому

    I just picked up a peach of a X495 for cheap. Finally got the new 62 inch deck. Put some high lifts on it. Mowed the ditch with 3 to 4 foot grass in it. About 4 to 5 mph one pass, full bite, and no stragglers. Looked beautiful.
    Love to see ya test out the newer model X750. You cannot beat the diesel torque.

    I’m going out on a limb here, but I see no way that this machine compares to a Ventrac for steep slope mowing or versatility. I’ve got a Skag zero turn, mini-x, CTL, and a couple other tractors, but if I could only keep one, it would be my Ventrac 4520z. I addition to everything else it can do the cut quality with the 72” finish mower is amazing. The stability, traction, and cut quality on steep slopes and uneven terrain is impressive. Like the CC, there is virtually no turf disturbance with the Ventrac. The CC seems like a well engineered solution and undoubtedly superior in many ways to a standard zero turn. IMO, the downside to both the Ventrac and the Cub Cadet for mowing is the steering wheel. For lawn mowing, I find it more tiring than ztr controls.

    • @RockhillfarmYT
      @RockhillfarmYT  16 днів тому +2

      I would agree with all of the points you make
      You always have to compare with an a price range as well. I was on a $30,000 Kabota mower today and it will out perform this cub cadet.
      Ventrac Is expensive, but probably the best mower out there

    • @jamesiversen
      @jamesiversen 16 днів тому +3

      Agree that a Ventrac is much more versatile, but they are also a LOT more expensive. The top of the line CC ZTXS is $10,300 (USD) according the their website. A Ventrac STARTS at $26,470, then you need to buy the finish mower attachment at ~$5k. Don't get me wrong: I'd love a Ventrac, but if the budget doesn't allow for that, a ZTXS is a great option for many.
      Of course, I just upgraded from a "me-propelled" push mower to a self-propelled for my sloped property, so I'm living the dream.
      🤣🤣🤣

    You might consider putting knobby tires on the back wheels - at least on my tractor, it seems to make a difference when the layers of grass get thick and slippery.

    I really like the one you're using here, that said, I can't justify the cost of one of those mowers for residential use. I know that the pro series mowers are made differently, but will the residential models work just as well? Thanks for the video!

    Looks like a job for a batwing deck

  • @jimmcknight3021
    @jimmcknight3021 13 днів тому

    I would argue that the Ventrac is more versatile and will hold the hill as well. The same goes for Steiner and now the Bobcat that is a Steiner in Bobcat colors. This machine is really for people that are doing a lot of mowing in tough hill situations and dont need the additional flexibility of the other jobs a Ventrac can do.

    • @RockhillfarmYT
      @RockhillfarmYT  13 днів тому

      I agree with you. Ventrac is also in another price range.

    • @jimmcknight3021
      @jimmcknight3021 13 днів тому

      @RockhillfarmYT Yes, they aren't cheap, but very capable. They just don't lift enough on round hay bales with their loader, or we would have bought one. Even on their redesigned loader, it still is just not beefy enough.

  • @joewagner168
    @joewagner168 16 днів тому +1

    That ditch is a pain. I have one just like it. Its hard to mow them without scalping the ground or digging trenches with the sides of the deck.

    Is there a diesel version coming?

  • @johnhelbig7110
    @johnhelbig7110 16 днів тому

    Cameras just cannot accurately show the slope of a hill; doesn’t matter whose video it is. Still, I’m thinking my Kubota ZD331-60 31 hp diesel would stand a fair chance of cutting that. The worst part of my mower is it has so much power, I spin the wheels very easily; and a spinning tire very seldom gets you anywhere. I’ve cut worse slopes, but typically, only going up. Regardless, another nice video; the equipment manufacturers have got to be thrilled with your content.

    • @woofy548

      That 4 wheel steering is a whole new ball game.

  • @aafarm1652
    @aafarm1652 15 днів тому

    That ditch really isn’t that bad. I got a 60” Kubota zero turn and a Hustler 60” zero turn that would mow that ditch with no problem. I cut way steeper banks than that with both mower. I have also have Kubota M7040 cab tractor that I could put on that and cut it just fine. Got to be careful with Cub cadet mowers because they aren’t that reliable.

    • @RockhillfarmYT
      @RockhillfarmYT  15 днів тому

      I’ve recently been running a hustler x one. It’s a $16,000 mower with a 30 hp engine and it would not mow this ditch like that.

      This style is available in a lot of different size ranges and a lot of different prices
      On the specific model I showed, Today I think you can get one for 15,300 but that’ll be 16,300 on next year’s model because it will only be available in the fuel injected

    I've almost always mowed most ditches (where a rider can't get to) with a push mower. I see some using a weed wacker...that's not very efficient.

  • @FirewoodInTheField
    @FirewoodInTheField 16 днів тому

    Brock, that mower does look like it just might be the best-performing-mower on the market today!
    But,, for me its too complicated. All those parts involved that you showed in your other video (for example) to control/balance the drive-force based on steering angle just look like a nightmare after a few years and a few hundred hours. I'm not a fan of the lack of grease zerks either.
    I really appreciate your in-depth reviews and honest, clear way you communicate about the equipment you are testing. But,,,,, this mower is just not for me

      There are miles of ditch like this one on my road. About half of the property owners leave it for the county to Mow and they do a poor job of that twice a year.
      I usually leave it for the county.
      The other half of the property owners find a way to mow it because they like how it makes the property look
      My wife would like me to mow it.
      I’m about 4 acres anyway so I’m already going to have a nice mower . It’s not like I’m buying a mower just for this ditch.
