I like Ty, He is knowledgeable and well spoken. He should be on Cubs pod more often. Its hard to get the scoop on whats the kids are doing In AA and AAA. Can you even watch Cubs AAA online? It might be less painful than watching some of the games that Marquee is putting out.
Caissie and Triantos will mash at the ML level.
Good show guys! Ty reminds me of a young Seth McFarlane 😅
🔐 locked on Cubs 👍
Good show today fellas!
Thanks for the show! LET'S GO CUBS!!! ⚾️ ✌️💙🐻
As soon as Jed is replaced, we'll see movement forward!!
Nah, need to replace Tom Ricketts as well. Need to stop being afraid to go all in. It’s the “value big moves” that have locket the cubs up. Wouldn’t go all in for Chris sale. Instead got rid of Eloy Jimenez and Dylan Cease for Quintana. The Darvish contract, not trading for a closer last season. Letting Soler leave. Signing Dansby swanson instead of Trea turner or Seager. Not trading for Tyler Glasnow. They have been terrified to make a huge signing since Hayward. Instead they make middle tier signings and playing confused when they get middle tier results. They are no different than the bulls when they decided to keep Luol Deng instead of going for Lebron, Wade, and Bosh. Don’t expect different results
Great show Sam, I have always enjoyed every time Ty has been on the show maybe he can join in with you and Matt sometime.
Go Cubs
I keep trying to be done,
Then they sucker me back in with a Steele complete game or some other game where they play the way they should be playing EVERY game.
It’s frustrating.
But I’m a die hard.
I’m used to it.
I've been done a long time. I mean done as far as paying any attention to games. Seeing highlights for amazing players is one thing. Looking at prospects and watching the draft and stuff like that is about the only fun I expect right now from the Cubs.
Yes, people need to understand the prospects will struggle at times.....but they will instead be quick to call them AAAA players or busts.
Great episode guys!! Good peak behind the curtain and “proper” pessimism. Franchise and fans need to expect better, that’s how you build a legacy beyond just the one or two players.
We might have a closer!!!!
I wish they'd move to Japan!!
I know (and see in many threads across multiple podcast channels) that people are worried if we have enough prospects that will actually turn into impact/high impact MLB players.
Let's consider what we have seen:
As bad as the inuries to starting pitchers and the awful/plagued bullpen:
-Ben Brown is legit and will either be a dominant RP or a very good starter
-Porter Hodge has big league stuff and is, so far, proving to be more consistent and in control of his stuff than thought. Solid! Seems like he'll be a very good RP.
-Luke Little has the stuff/size/velo and has shown some flashes, hopefully irons out the control more
With the above, if Horton proves the be the real deal... that's a really solid 2024 & 2025 for farm pitchers. Would be ideal to sell before the deadline: any combination of a few of Hoerner, Happ, Bellinger, Taillon would get you hopefully 1) an elite catcher that's ready early in 2025(buyers: Red Sox' Teal, Mariners' Ford, O's Basallo, Dodgers' Rushing) and
2) 2-3 elite Pitchers(Braves, Dodgers, O's, Padres, Astros, Twins, Guardians, all stocked with 2024-2026 AA/AAA prospect pitchers in their top 10s).
Hitter/Fielder farm development we've seen:
-PCA is getting better, and seemingly rapidly
-Shaw- let's hope it translates... super high contact is something Cubs don't have much of(plus another quick baserunner which they have little of)
-Canario (limited sample, but the dude will be a well-rounded hitter/plays all 3 OF well, fast baserunner... frustrating they don't bring him up)
-Caissie: like Shaw, let's hope, but je has been successful at each stage and quickly(and power to all fields).
👍👍👍👍
Hey Sam you guys are the best question would you ever do a stream with David Kaplan
ty, need to know where you bought that hat
👍
This team is not done
Delusional
anything
In my opinion, any improvement in the bullpen, or position players are because they're trying to up their trade value!!
@@RodneyHennings I don't get this.
somebody get a location on mr cozzi lol
In conclusion!! I hope, everything I said, the Cubs' organization proves me wrong!!
I said it was over 5 weeks ago they did not do enough in the off season 3 rd base , catcher , bull pen , starting pitch bat off the bench they need alot of work as for the minors not sure there are any WOW players !!!
Couldn't have said it better.
Excuse me: who was available that would have changed things one iota? Do you wish they would have paid big bucks for Blake Snell or Jordan Montgomery? How's that for value? What free agent catcher was available? Is Matt Chapman worth the long-term contract Scott Boras was seeking for him? Would you want to make that commitment and pay that money with Matt Shaw in your system?
There WAS no fix available in the off-season. You're demanding something that simply wasn't there.

You guys should be beginning to feel hope now. From a continuously annoyed Cardinals fan.
I just had a thought!!🤔 remember when the Orioles were trash, and remember the 1st year the Houston Astros went to the A.L.!!??😲🙄Look at those 2 teams,🤔🧐.........Now!! look at the Cubs!! I think both of those teams are smaller markets!! They are so much better organizationally!! What does that say about the Cubs!!??😲🧐🤨 The Ricketts, and Jed must go, in order for the team to look like a Major league organization!!😬
Poor Brennan Davis broke his back and no one is talking about it. Its very sad.
Ballasteros is a DH, sorry.
Hey fellas!! I'm a Cubs' fan but, organizationally this team isn't going anywhere soon, in my opinion until they act like a Major market club!! not!!🤔😬🤨
You are pronouncing Ballesteros properly.
He’s another Morel defensively right now. (A man without a position) Too short for 1B, too fat (for now, anyway) to catch. His bat is close to Major League ready but unless you want a 20 year old DH, it’s going to be awhile. Personally, I wouldn’t promote him to Chicago until mid season 2025 assuming he earns it.
Caissie turned 22 yesterday. I wouldn’t rush him, either. He’s hitting well but his HR production is down vs last year …which doesn’t really concern me much as he has light tower power but (thankfully) isn’t HR obsessed. He hits ropes and uses the gaps well. Let him get his ABs in before bringing him up.
Unsung prospect to watch: Felix Stevens. Big power. Built like Derrek Lee.
Jefferson Rojas is a very good SS prospect who at least at High A is a capable hitter with some pop.
Matt Shaw will rake and will do so with decent power.
☝🏾1 more thing!! Sam!! I know you're not crazy about Contreras but, they did him wrong, I'm not gonna elaborate!! You notice everyone that leaves the organization, has instant success, what does that say about the Cubs!!??🤨🧐🤔😲🤔😠
Immediate success?
Bryant, Baez, Arrietta
all left the organization in one way or another. None came even close to their former selves.
Brother, you are delusional. Get over something. Wilson isn’t even the best hitting Contreras. Neither one of them can catch or call a game.
That Ty guy is sharp but he's no Matt...disagree with both of them....Cubs in World Series...NO still think last wild card is within reach..Go Cubs!
😲🤔 He's short enough that he wouldn't have to squat down!!🙄
Sam, you can't 'do a Counsell' without starting your every sentence with "yeah... I mean..."
I’ve always thought the Cubs farm isn’t as good as they say, including MLB themselves. I’m not sold on Kevin Alcantara yet, Ed Howard the SS the hometown kid was supposed to be THE MAN. We see what happened to Brennen Davis. Felix Pie, Mervis…there are ALOT more prospects that haven’t made it than there are in this organization. Matt Shaw looks and plays like a gamer as does Cassie. Luis Vazquez can do just as good a job at defense at short as Dansby “Huuuuyyyyyyy 3” Swanson and who cares about the bat if Swanson is slinging a wet pool noodle anyway? Morel is also still young and who knows if it’ll click at some point for him. He’s either gonna be the next big time bopper or he’s gonna fizzle out quick. The way I see it right now as it is, the Cubs now v.s. The 2014/2015 Cubs farm system isn’t even comparable. WE WERE the Orioles back then. We had a legit 4 star #1 prospects. Bryant, Baez, Addison Russell, Almora Jr, Schwarber. It’s not hindsight, those players IMO were wayyyyyyyyyyyy better accomplished in every way. Cubs need a legit superstar that can change games with the swing of the bat and they need at least 2 relief pitchers that throw 🔥 🔥🔥🔥🔥99+ in the back end. This is where the game is.
Ed Howard has been working hard on recovering from a serious hip injury. To be honest, I’m not sure he can ever make it to the majors. His hip socket needed to be rebuilt and the chances of that healing properly for the long term aren’t great but he’s finally starting to show signs of improvement. He finally hit a HR last week which is his 1st since before the injury and has been hitting well lately overall.
Has anyone seen Ballesteros? He looks like Hector Villanueva. No way that guy can play catcher in the MLB. Let him play DH. Matt Shaw is 5 foot 7, people. So sick of short garbage draft picks.
With this franchise and hoyer GM those prospects will never make it to the big leagues.
