These new OP-1 vids you're making are like the originals in an alternate dimension where instead of turning our brains off and watching you make a cool tune you invite us to explore humanity. A while back you expressed that you didn't like that your channel had become the OP-1 tutorial channel (or something with that sort of sentiment), and I can honestly say these are artistically so interesting, so captivating, I can't think of another channel on YT making stuff like this. The OP-1 is just a side character now and you're taking us on such a cool journey.

It doesn't start with the tool...rather starts with technique and we choose how we wish to execute (though tools / instruments can inspire technique)

i find that these new op-1 videos feel like a complimentary art piece to the song youre creating. it adds new dimension that i wouldnt be able to pick up on my own just listening to the song.

I was not prepared for the lyrics to hit so damn hard. The commentary throughout the production really adds a lot of context and depth to the completed song. The lyrics tie it all together.

My family is dead. My mom was my last blood relative, I took care of her as best I could. She died of a stroke due to her cigarette smoking back in 2018.
My family now are my closest friends in the Furry community. I'm honored and privileged to have some of the kindest, most thoughtful, caring, loving people in my life that I could ever ask for. The community even gave me a partner.

I've got a few friends that I love to listen to them just talk because even when theyre just spitballing, they say some profound things that really impact me. Jeremy is one of those friends.
First, cool messaging to go along with the recording process. But second, you always make this process look so dang simple… and when I try to do it, I get a drum sample in, and just sit there with a blank stare until I get up for a cup of coffee and play my guitar for the rest of the day lol
This is a good message to have when dealing with a birth family that focuses too much on national/religious belonging.

A lot of the idea of blood relatives being more important comes from the misquote of "Blood is thicker than water". However the saying is actually "The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb." Basically means the opposite of what many people mean when they use it as a cudgel. Chosen family bonds are actually stronger than familial bonds.

I know very little about music production, am a new viewer; something about seeing the process reminds me of watching visual artists sketching, layering, adding in an iterative process, in a way it made it easier to appreciate it, understand it. If that makes any sense?

I do really enjoy these vids, because not only do I get to see/hear these monster tracks come together, but it also gives me things to ponder and reflect on, and ultimately creates a bond. I have known a number of friends over the years that have become family, and it is completely true that your family by blood is not always your chosen family. In a convoluted way, all of us here blur the line between friends and family in that sort of sense that usually only us weirdo music nerds with a passion for gear and sound design understand.

Love is a verb, and love takes practice.
I mean, the song is fantastic and yet it's almost secondary? I was in my 40s and on my third long term relationship before I found my family, and in turn that let me re-engage with my blood family without fear or apology. Finding something you never knew was missing is a real kick in the pants.

I hate to recommend this because it can be a slog, but "The Symbolic Species" by Terrance Deacon is a really crazy book about how animals understand the world and how our understanding of the world is separated by a very thin line of symbolic reasoning, and if you can get to the other side of that line you can achieve consciousness. Animals that toe this line tend to be the ones that can understand identity and in turn really understand what it means to be caring, not in an instinctual way, but in a conscious way. Elephants and dolphins are pretty well documented examples as you show in the video. There are also some wild ideas in the back end about the soul and how we exist collectively as a web of interconnected symbolic understandings. Just based on what you've been talking about and some of the things you shared in the past, it could be interesting to you. Back when I was in university it changed how I viewed the world and my place in it. Maybe check it out.
