Thanks for the additional feedback. I have come to believe that good communication, including storytelling, comes down to mastering the perception you want from your audience. Typically if I am building a narrative, I start at the end and ask a key question - what do I want my audience (it could be an individual) to take from my communication? This has been very useful to me in learning to be more effective as a communicator. Most important, I wanted to wish all of you a safe and happy Holiday Season. I hope 2016 was a great year for each of you and that 2017 is even better.

I wish someone would address how you craft stories that relate to the client and will help you sell your product or service to the client.

People tend to want results. A product or service is just a tool to achieve those results. The better you understand the needs of your client, the easier it is to craft a narrative. Sales are often nothing more than a promise that taking a product or service will produce a desired result. Good business is turning that promise into reality. That is the path to relationships, not just sales. I hope that gives you some additional clarity Billey. Happy Holidays.

One might ask, is it more important to look at that one comment? or rather listen with the intent to learn and get the "big picture" of what he is saying. You two picking that one comment and name calling are not able to see the forest for the trees. I would be VERY surprised if you have never, ever misspoke or make an error. Look at your bank account; if your bank account is not more than what his probably is, you most likely need to listen more and criticize less.

Thanks for your post and support Cindy. No doubt I made an error and I have to take ownership of that. I am glad you were able to look beyond that and get value from the training. Like you, I tend to listen to everything for lessons. While I understand why people criticize, it has never been something that I embraced in life. I have found that keeping my mind in a state of positivity enhances my ability to learn.

Thank you for the feedback. I think the fact that I often talk to audiences makes me want to speak a bit louder. Happy Holidays.

    perception, perception, perception....

I do believe communications is about perceptions. Every time I build a training or communicate, I always start with asking what I want to audience to takeaway from the communication. If i can get the takeaways I want, then I find that is a great way to measure the effectiveness of communication.

That's exactly what made me stop watch the video and go like "WHAT?! >.>" .. Homer would be so mad right now and his books weren't even the first :/
