    Perfect spinning back kick counter :') ! That's my favorite kick to do in sparring,that's why I get so hyped when I see someone else performing that kick to their opponent. So satisfying and brutal! Go, girl!

    As a red-belt, I've always been intimidated by opponents with higher ranks, the only times I won a match was when my opponent didn't show up

      Terence Angelo Since I started sparring which was when I was a yellow belt, I've had to do sparring matches with higher ranks, most of all, black belts.

      try to change that man, it's good for you to train with higher ranked fighters, specially to build up your confidence and shit like that

      Alex is a great fighter, but those two red-belts were obviously intimidated and very hesitant; especially the last one. This is a great case study to show students that one cannot be too passive, especially going against a higher belt. Best thing to do is to condition your students by having them spar against higher belts...obviously.

      Alex Wong I noticed the shoulder jerk showing the intention to back kick but you really punished her for falling for it still! I love back kick for sparring, one of the smartest ways to control a fight

    I love all your videos - and this of you sparring - helps me a lot. I'm older guy started TKD 01/07/2015 when middle grand daughter asked me to come to her class. Soon I'll be testing 1st dan black belt.
    My teacher Master Tran says "You earn black belt when your white belt gets dirty from all your hard work. Then you become an advanced beginner and always keep a white belt attitude in everything you do."
    I love it and turning seventy this November I am happy to be breaking boards - 3 and bricks - one - with side kicks. Also sparring - my sparring is my weakest skill set and my discouragement motivates me to work harder.
    Your videos are excellent because they demonstrate skills clearly and you are down to earth person - and obviously having fun and happy doing what you do.
    Best to you (y)

      Mike Michelozzi That's awesome! Never too old to train TKD. I do my best to make videos easy to digest and fun to watch as well. I very much enjoy doing videos and teaching what I know, let me know if you have any video requests and I'll try to work on them :) Keep up your training and good luck with your testing!

    this work out is very wong.
    but all kidding aside,
    im a white belt. and in my TKD school there are only black belts. you would think that id be a punching bag but actually it has a very stimulant effect on me. it drives me to prove i can be better.
    i like sparring with black belts. makes me feel though hahaha

    • @hornetc5585
      @hornetc5585 5 років тому

      Why? I'm not even that highly ranked and I'm not intimidated by her if that was how strong she could go. I've sparred with very hard and swift kickers, one even was from Korea (and got his black belt there). I would probably lose solely do to the sad way the points system works, but I would not say I'd be afraid. You know what's scary? Watching a guy throw 10-15 very strong head level roundhouse kicks by your head in 30 seconds is way worse (he was so strong I heard the wind go by my head), he's hit my body before so I know his kicks don't just look nice. That's only a slight exaggeration and I know from watching him spar with other black belts that he was taking it easy.

    Hi Alex, I love watching your TKD videos - not only do they reinforce the training I've received in class but I watch them for supplemental tips. Can you share with us 1) how you were feeling right before your very first sparring match? 2) What advice can you share for those fearful of sparring but really wish to compete / get great at it? (like myself :) 3) What advice can you provide on how to best avoid injury while sparring?

    • @OhNoItsWednesday13
      @OhNoItsWednesday13 8 років тому

      +Daniel Richardson How is she terrible? She wins with 14-0 if it was the new rules that would be a shut out and that is a lot harder to do than to win with a KO.

    • @Richardson_mma
      @Richardson_mma 8 років тому

      OhNoItsWednesday13 she is fighting at a very low level

    • @Richardson_mma
      @Richardson_mma 8 років тому

      OhNoItsWednesday13 if she went to international or even national with good atheletes she would get easiñy beaten

    • @OhNoItsWednesday13
      @OhNoItsWednesday13 8 років тому

      +Daniel Richardson Well thats beside the point isnt it? We havent seen her at any higher level so we cant judge that. You wouldnt grade a first class student after highschool measures? But in this video she looked good even though the competition wasnt the best.
