As an Aussie that owns to Holden HQ car and Ute from that same vintage i am very impressed to see this car. One of the original cars ended up in a wrecking yard near Broken Hill (sadly). They did the stunts only one (small budget, limited cars) on the film. They even borrowed an apprentice's Sandman Van to use in the movie. Peter Brocks brother Phil Brock did a lot of the driving in the stunt scenes.

Dinki DYE mate (like DIana) not dee. Also fun fact the nosecone was designed by Peter* (may have stuffed up his first name) Arcadipane who had a long association with Ford Australia...may have been an employee but if I recall right he had his own design house and consulted under contract to them. He styled many classic Aussie muscle cars, not just Fords. This is an "XB" and the body style was shared (in order) XA, XB, XC. You can tell an XB from an XA by the tailights which slant inwards on the XA as well as a different front clip design (gurads, bonnet, grille, lights).

Lou Costabile quick reply! I remember the rear footwells being cut out for the cameras I guess. It was also pretty tatty, loads of filler cracking, especially around the rear spoiler. From memory, there is 2 cars, the one which was totaled in mm2 was also rebuilt.
best movie eva Mad Max 2 i owned a coke can red 73’ XB sedan bought it for $500 dollars damn the memories in that beast so rare they were built like a battleship strong as an ox wish i still had it go U good thing “ it would b a shame too blow it up”
Those cars are bad ass, like most everyone else here in America I'd never seen or heard of them until the first movie came out in 79, then like everyone else I started asking "Were can I get one of those?", unfortunately however they're pretty few and far between here in the US especially since the MM movies have become classics, back in the day no one but us gear heads cared about cars like that and now unless you're a millionaire you can't even think about owning one, thanks Barrett-Jackson for turning cars that were $1,500 when I was in high school to overpriced things for rich people to brag about owning.
Man, the Aussies sure got one helluva better looking Falcon than America did,...the American version was the ugliest, most HOMELY thing ive ever seen!! It was pathetic!!
Mate you should check out all the HOT Falcon made here. We had it great. All gone now thanks to no interest in our car industry. Look up Falcon GT Cobra, Phase II & III, Tickford Falcons and FPR Falcons.
That was Ford does historically. They have given much more nicer cars to Australia then the U.S. look at many of the cars Australia has, they Fors and if they were in the US they would assist with the decline of cars sold. I know as I was in Australia and seen many cars Ford will not sell in the US.
Hi lifelessdead89, You're right, that would be cool. Please share the cars video with your Friends as I'd like to beat Brian's FaceBook page views. Thank you, Lou
the mad max car is very cool.....i think the blower in the movie was fake also because i have never seen a supercharger that could be turned off and on like in the movie lol...cool video as always Lou
Hi Anna Mills, Glad you enjoy the "very cool" ride :-) Please share this video with your Friends so we can have fun passing "Brian's Facebook Challenge". Thank you, Lou
Vintage Mercedes 540K and possibly a Bentley of similar age had superchargers that could be turned off. The mercedes one only turned on at full throttle.
That model Falcon wasn't low production numbers. It was a major seller at the time when it came out and in my age group getting your licence in the late 80's early 90's it was often a cheap used first car to by for new drivers there were so many around. In fact you were never short of a part if you needed one as the wreckers were full of them. It's just than now it's very difficult indeed to get your hands on one.
Ford Australia made this body shape for XA, XB and XC GTs between 1973 and I think 1979 or 1980. They were offered with the 302 Windsor and 351 Cleveland motors. I don’t remember a six cylinder option. They had three speed automatic or four speed manual transmissions. The front of this car, which is vaguely reminiscent of a Chevy Monza, was not found on any of these cars and is just a mod for the movie.
There certainly WAS a 6 cylinder option as a 1974 XB GS coupe was my very first car when I was 17...had a 4.1 L 250cc motor. They finished production with the XC in 1978...1979 was the birth of an all new european looking Falcon named XD. The front end was made by Peter Arcdipane and it was called a concorde front nose, yes based on a Monza...Alot of panel vans had them fitted around the same time as MM1
Road Warrior was the first movie I saw when I was 10. I literally loved everything about the movie. To this day it's still my favorite.Thats also when the Falcon became my dream car that I would hope to build someday. After all these years since 83 I finally got one. Can anyone that might read this give me some names or contacts on factory built parts for these cars? By the way the video is cool! Always like anything about any of those cars period
Hi Stacey White , Happy to read this movie and car are favorites of yours :-) Unfortunately I have no knowledge of factory built parts for the cars, however happy to read you enjoy this video, and hope you see many more cars on this Channel you'll enjoy, Lou
... another thing that is inaccurate is the front Monza nose cone, the original Arcadipane front nose cone from Australia back in the 70s, came in 2 styles, the truck front, and the car front. The movie cars in both MM1 and MM2, used the Car front nose cone, the one on that car in the above video is the much wider truck nose cone. Once you notice the difference, you'll never be able to un-notice it on all the replica cars out there, although there are some replicas with the correct Car front nose cone, instead of the Truck nose cone.

Since you want the effect of being able to turn the blower on/off. Why wouldn't it have been easier to just put the blower on a magnetic pto clutch on the crankshaft? The blower belt would stop and you would have the effect you wanted. I also would have put an intercooler under the blower for air by pass with a couple of turbos plumbed into the intercooler. Of course I would have the turbo intakes in the front... which would have not been stock to the original but perhaps you could sorta put them in where the headlights are and get away with it still being original.

Aussie Falcons were great. Check out fords turbo barra engines xr6. Some guys are getting a 1300 hp.
That was Ford does historically. They have given much more nicer cars to Australia then the U.S. look at many of the cars Australia has, they Fors and if they were in the US they would assist with the decline of cars sold. I know as I was in Australia and seen many cars Ford will not sell in the US.

Hi My Day, Thank you for viewing and sharing. Hope you see many more cars on this UA-cam Channel you'll enjoy, Lou
Hi TheThirdMan, Thank you for viewing and sharing your knowledge, Lou
@@loucostabile Sorry: XC production ended in 1978., not 1979 or 1980.
There certainly WAS a 6 cylinder option as a 1974 XB GS coupe was my very first car when I was 17...had a 4.1 L 250cc motor. They finished production with the XC in 1978...1979 was the birth of an all new european looking Falcon named XD. The front end was made by Peter Arcdipane and it was called a concorde front nose, yes based on a Monza...Alot of panel vans had them fitted around the same time as MM1

... another thing that is inaccurate is the front Monza nose cone, the original Arcadipane front nose cone from Australia back in the 70s, came in 2 styles, the truck front, and the car front.

Eleanor behind. Go baby go
Nice :-)
Since you want the effect of being able to turn the blower on/off. Why wouldn't it have been easier to just put the blower on a magnetic pto clutch on the crankshaft? The blower belt would stop and you would have the effect you wanted.
I also would have put an intercooler under the blower for air by pass with a couple of turbos plumbed into the intercooler. Of course I would have the turbo intakes in the front... which would have not been stock to the original but perhaps you could sorta put them in where the headlights are and get away with it still being original.
Hi sy2532, Putting a blower on is a fun idea :-) Lou
