    As to the 1MOA discussion, check out Bloke on the Range's "1 MOA All Day Long" challenge. I don't think most rifles are actually capable of that if you don't cherry pick groups.

    • @lordhellfire153
      @lordhellfire153 6 місяців тому +6

      It's fun to challenge people i work with to prove their rifles are "Sub MOA." Tell them i want 2 targets, 100 yards, 1 round for a first round cold bore shot, then a second with 9 rounds.
      Mount the fucker in a sled, I don't care. I bet your rifle isn't half as good as you're telling me it is.

    • @SubBubz
      @SubBubz 6 місяців тому +2

      @lordhellfire153 ima try this next time I hit the range. Sounds like a good benchmark.
      Have a rifle that I've never shot more than an moa with when using 77 gr, wonder if it could keep up to a cold bore + 9 shot group.
      Usually is fine with grouping multiple times in a few minutes, but maybe a constant string could make it stray. (Usually do 5 round groups with a reload of the mag in between).
      I've hit a target the size of a nickel on a cold bore, but only tried once. Who's to say that wasn't luck? (I took that shot and ran, don't know if I could pull that off again and again).😂

    • @lordhellfire153
      @lordhellfire153 6 місяців тому

      @SubBubz get some old playing cards and shoot the aces of all 4 suits. That way you have a suitably small target to focus on, and if it is sub to 1 moa, you'll have the cards easily accessible to prove it.

    • @dasboot9471

      I’ve tested a lot of garbage and have had a hard time finding modern barrels that DON’T shoot sub MOA with the ammo it likes, I’m learning that there are a lot more dipshits out there that can’t/don’t know how to shoot and blame/shot on rifles.

    • @Nathan-zw7nq
      @Nathan-zw7nq 2 місяці тому

      @@lordhellfire153you’re right my BCM is actually 1.25 MOA with 10 round groups. Sure I can make it shoot under MOA with only 3 shot groups, but that doesn’t count.
      Edit: and the 1.25 MOA was achieved by using 77gr OTMs. It’s more like 2 MOA with M193.

    I really wish I knew why there's this sudden need for sub-moa rifles/barrels when most people 1) aren't capable of shooting moa or better on a remotely consistent basis and 2) there's practically no need for most shooters to need a moa or better precision.
    Also Hop, I'd try a Sanders Armory barrel and bolt before you give up on a AR15 6.5 Grendel. Or get a custom barrel made (I prefer Precision Firearms). The set up for suppressed and unsuppressed shooting is a little loathesome, but it'll work.

    • @ALovelyBunchOfDragonballz

      Because a poor barrel with a poor shooter make poor groups, a poor shooter with a good barrel make okay groups, a good shooter with a poor barrel make okay groups, and a good shooter with a good barrel make good groups.
      Theres no harm in having a rifle that outshoots the user.

      @@quiettime6871 my first AR was a Bushmaster Dissipator in 1999. It was a carbine gas system underneath of it. Mid-length didn’t exist yet. That came later from Armalite.
      My point being the marketing materials for Dissipator reference heat dissipation, the gas system wasn’t the focus. The longer handguard and rifle sight radius were.
      No one called these Dissipators until Bushmaster did it. And somehow people started calling rifle length gas 16” barrels “true Dissipators”; when a true Dissipator is what Bushmaster sold.

    I think a good quick explaination of EMPs is:
    This is what happens when a lot of really high energy photons pop off at once. Except... they're not really too high energy, they're mostly in the radio and microwave bands. So, the actual physical requirements for high energy photons forcing electrons out of atoms doesn't occur. So, you're just dealing with other, more boring stuff, most of which is just counteracted by some really basic construction ideas that are used for stuff like surge protection. You can also use a Faraday Cage and just say "No" to the EM spectrum. Faraday Cages are stupidly easy to make by the way. It is the origin of tin foil hats.
    A bigger problem will probably be transformers and intermediate stations. These use magnets a lot, and they can be disrupted by an EMP. But, in most cases, it is a "turn it off and then turn it back on again" type thing. But there's also a small potential for longer term damage with certain types of EMPs, like those from nukes, because there are 3 pulses back to back to back of varying strength.
    So! EMPs are of minimal danger to small and home electronics and of moderate but easy to repair danger to some parts of the electrical infrastructure. You may see temporary black outs, but no worse than a squirrel chewing through a wire. Well, unless it is a nuke. Then you have the whole "a nuke was dropped on us" problem.

      Did you notice as you typed this out how many things you have to swap to get it to "gas beautifully".

    • @spartanxlv
      @spartanxlv 6 місяців тому

      @@FocusTripp Nothing is being swapped if you've planned the build, though. My Grendel and ARC builds aren't any more complex than my basic 5.56s. Riflespeed or SA AGB and A5 buffer add a little cost, but they're easy to tune. Also, it definitely doesn't feel anywhere near a 308, even with a baffled can.
      Though I do appreciate the low maintenance of a 5.56 rifle, a few build tweaks are well worth it to add a 6 ARC or Grendel, IMO. I've watched your vids, I know you agree lol

    I've got a T6Xi 1-6. It is a good scope, glass is great, reticle is daylight visible, reticle is nice but would have been nice to have a christmas tree as well, a bit pricy but if you feel good with the cost I it is solid. The one real gripe I gave is the elevation turret, while pretty crisp and defined, can only dial about 11 mil and have an actual pin that restricts you from continuing to dial. I was expecting the turrets to have an adjustable zero stop like the other t6xi models and allow dialing for longer shots. All in all it's good and a non issue if you want to run capped turrets anyways, which it includes as an option.

What I got was an unbelievably accurate rifle that loves to be suppressed and doesn’t give a shit about the kind of ammo you run through it you’ll occasionally have one flyer every 30 something rounds but a flyer for this thing is like 3/4’s of an inch away from the group. My best group was .75 inches with 123 grain Hornady custom. I live in Oregon too so Hop if you want to check it out I’ll loan it to you for a few weeks or whatever only issue is there’s only one mag

    This magazine release is why I was turned off of the Griffin Mk2. Instead, I got a Livewire ambi lower and was then disappointed that the bolt release on the right sode was only that- not a bolt catch as well. Therefore the right side bolt release is nice for the first half second of a competition and of course empty mag reloads, but does not help at all with malfunctions.
    For an ambi mag release, I found a $20 one made by ArmsUnlimited that works with any mil-spec lower. It has a small face for your left fingertip and while the right side works just as smoothly as any normal mag release, the left side requires a little more strength to engage (maybe my left hand is just weaker?) and I haven't had any issues yet with the mag getting dropped when I sling the rifle in any position wearing any of my various kits.
