Never had a chance to try the burstbuckers but i think they are hotter and best suited for rock music. I had the 59 installed in the neck position on my Les Paul and i found it to be a very good pickup, then i got the Seth and was not thrilled by it at a glance. I found it to be too trebly and too scooped in the midrange and it felt so different compared the 59. I was kind of shocked. Then i found out that if i turn back my tone control down to 6, the pickup totally changes to the better. It's warming up and produces an incredible woman tone. Now i like it a lot for my bluesy stuff and think it's the best pickup i ever had in the neck position.

Seth Lovers are basically 59's unpotted.

@@dmusumeci Thank you. I have a neck 59 sitting here and sold the guitar before I got to try it.

The 59 is potted and it has more midrange especially lower midrange. The Seth has a different feel to it. I don't know exactly why. Part of it could be that it is microphonic thus picking up the sound of the wood. With the Seth i can definitely not leave it with all knobs on 10. I only got the sound fine by turning down the tone control to 6 and i'm using a high quality o.22uf capacitor. When i did, i discovered an absolutely amazing tone that even beats the 59 for most of the bluesy stuff that i play.
