Thanks for recording and posting this, also thanks for posting where you found a replacement booster! I've got a 1975 ford F600 that was a uhaul special in one of its past lives that I'm putting back into service and even tho my brakes worked I still insisted we replace everything in the brake system before I go barrelling down the road with 18,998lbs of stuff.
NO NO NO do not use heater hose instead of vacuum hose. Heater hose will not stand up to fuel. As the vacuum hose is connected to the intake manifold there will be some fuel vapors on occasion. ALSO you need a good vacuum hose that will not collapse when the vacuum is in it for prolonged periods. This system is not like brakes today. When you lose em you lose all 4 wheels at the same time. Remember heater hose is designed to take pressure from the inside. Vacuum must do just the opposite. I'm sure you know but a check valve in the vacuum line as close to the manifold as possible will help keep gas fumes out of that line. Otherwise Great Job! love to see these older rigs rolling on the road.
These trucks never were known for ride quality, and the fact that you don't have anything on the rear frame, don't help. 45 to 50 empty is about all they were designed to run, anything faster and you can't stop very well. Radial tires and front shocks help. BTW, here on the farm we have several old trucks with the hydro vac, including a N750, they all have poor stopping ability, only the ones with air brakes are decent to get stopped. Can't count how many times we had to swerve off the road to avoid rearending some one who stopped short in front of us!
Where did u get the replacement I tried to find where u posted or said where u got it but I can’t find it I’m needing one for my international dump truck
put one on my f600-1969, went thru whole system, still weak brakes. i hear the vaccum booster vent on startup, it stops sucking when i press brake pedal. have a strong- hard pedal with weak brakes.??????
Those tempermental Hydro vacs are the most miserable POS ever put on a truck! Back when the truck was new, they only worked marginally. Now that their old, forget it! Can't get new units anymore, and the rebuilt ones are a joke. Those that you can find, have been on the shelf for so long that their non functioning. In order for the thing to actually work, the whole brake system has to be in a perfect working order. That means all wheel cylinders must be like new, brakes adjusted up close, master in good order, vacuum must be up to specs, and all vac lines new! Then you might have a chance. And over all else, the hand brake must be good, in all likely hood you'll still need it to stop the damn thing! When these trucks were new, it was normal to see them in the shop often for brake issues, no matter the make as they all used those same units. You know it's a issue when the shops back then kept them on the shelf.
think this model never arrived in brazil. what a shame, I would love to restore one of this. I have a F350 1968 brazilian Ford, in US it´s a 50s model.
@@PappProductions yes it was an original V8, but gasoline in the past raised to much, so nearly all owners swapped to diesel. mine have a 6 cyl mercedes 5.1l pos WWII indirect injction engine. OM321. No problem! I dont blame you for going through the brake system. Your truck is going to be real fun putting it to work!

5spd is a 4 spd low hole,no OD,and i would the rear ratio to be somewhere around 488 or stiffer
Fue magnífico freno pero con el tiempo se agota 💪💪💪💪👏🇨🇴🇨🇴Colombia
Any plans for a bed for that truck? I’m currently looking at a similar one and found your video.
*Thanks, Jon*
I looking for a used 8x12 or 8x14 flat bed to throw on it

Can you please make some cold starts of all your carbureted trucks with that interior view? Would be so cool to see

they make extensions for them
When you have the weight of a bed on it, the brakes won't lock up so much.
Did you sell this truck
