This era Cutlass was regularly the #1 selling car in the US (hard to believe now). Olds was never my cup of tea, but this guy has built the very best one ever. Love the Hurst tribute color scheme, too!
Thank you Brian King! For saving me from building "just another 69 camaro" after seeing your AWD burnout vid I sold all of the boring protouring crap I have been collecting over the years and am now about half way through a trailblazer based AWD/TURBO/divorced transfer case t56 Build and I couldn't be happier!
This is absolutely amazing!!!! So out of the box thinking. Taking a 4x4 truck frame & drivetrain and setting a car body on it is old. However it is usually a 2nd gen Z28, Vett or El Camino sitting on giant tires. For this guy to think about a Cutlass sitting low and AWD is backward and so cool. How this came to him is beyond me. I love this! I am really glad he mentioned it was an Olds Bravia. I had completely forgotten that existed. I have been thinking for a long time about building an 87 Fiero GT, AWD, using a good wishbone suspension set up, with a turbo 6cyl (not V8 to leave lots of room for turbos, intercooler and what not) but keep it all GM products to make it. Now I know a Bavia is possibly an option to try.
Awesome interview. For me as good as or better than the race itself. No idea Amber was in the Taxi. I’ve been fortunate enough to see some of the more recent changes/updates in the past few years. Great guy/family. What you see here and in all his videos is truly who and what he is. Thanks for sharing Brian and family. 🤟
I've known about this car for a number of years now (since that chained AWD burnout clip in the driveway) pretty cool to see this guy get recognition for his hard work.
Such a dope build. He did a fantastic job on all the carbon fiber. The AWD launches look insane and really highlight the amount of power it puts down. I mean, damn, what a rad car.
I been following this build since 2013. Featured in LSXmag. Necessity is the mother of invention is the title. By far my all time favorite build. Brian King is a true cutlass enthusiast and knows his shit. So happy you featured him Larry. I'm subscribed for life now. Great video.🏁👍
This car has been on my list as a wonder but yet beautiful, crude, powerful and very fast. I have always loved the car and the craftmanship involved in building this wonderful car. I am an Olds fan forever and seeing this just solidifies the love.
Love this channel for these builds, making motorsport engaging, showing people ordinary to extraordinary builds are achievable for all enthusiasts with a passion.
I love the dude and his car! He did everything himself and even learned to lay carbon in such quality by himself. And the car is an absolut beauty in every aspect! I love the AWD conversion and the power it has with that understating look, you would have no clue how much power it has if you see that on the highway lol
Holley HP is like 1700 plug and play, it’s same as dominator just half out/inputs, and its wiring etc. is dominator upgradeable if you end needing more input/output.
Yeah, same, wish them and Pontiac get revived at some point, love if they have more desirable and nice modern performance cars if they are still around, also Mercury too
Slides in the end shows how wild & harder to control awd compared to rwd if you have “nuff” hp. The dock is a minimum to make you feel safe standing next to awd drifting near you. Which makes me think of Ken Block’s drivetrain choice & his sight proving that its also “more fun” to drive..)
"hey look, a boring looking gutless-cutlass" ........ drops the hammer from a dig ......... "uhhhh" bro this dude dropped a cutlass onto a super obscure olds bravada "because it was neat to keep it olds", then slapped in a trailblazer awd system, somehow strapped a 4L60 behind a goddamn LSX and has it survive, then proceeds to thrash the living piss out of it and I gotta say, its absolutely glorious. The hoonicorn runs a 9.9, when they raced eye test tells me thing thing is in the meat of the 10s. at 3800lbs. with a back seat. with AC. rolling on 255s. hands down my favorite G body build ever. oh, plus he "as a hobby" likes to fabricate carbon fiber....good god man, Brian King, you are in fact a king.
Still probably my favorite car that’s been on hoonigan. Until someone builds and brings a supercharged AWD swapped first gen Ford Lightning on the show.
He says it drives like a truck because he welded-up , (what the spider gears?) it's center differential? I guess that all works when you are going straight.
Well, that's actually a Hurst Olds edition Cutlass with the shifter and color and stuff. With the gauge package originally that, until 87 when they came out at the end all wood bucket seats consoles and for gauges. 305 in it. Pretty cool, and nice and gangster fast.
If you want to support Autofocus directly head over to larrychenprints.com/. Each print comes with Larry Chen Peeker stickers and more!
this dude is so humble about this car. His work is incredible
he's from Nebraska, not some ego state like TX or CA
He really is, has been since I've first saw the car.
Amazing build!
I love how this guy thrashes the hell outta this beast like its intended for!
This car was insanely fast. One of the cooler builds I've seen in a while. Love how sleepy it looks.
Sleeper cars are the best 😎🚙🛻🚙🛻🚙
Oldsmobile were already cool and this guy made it even more cooler.
This era Cutlass was regularly the #1 selling car in the US (hard to believe now).
Olds was never my cup of tea, but this guy has built the very best one ever.
Love the Hurst tribute color scheme, too!
This thing will tear Subarus and Evos to shreds and probably the whole rally scene just because it’s Awd

Love how humble this cat is. True craftsmanship here.
Brian "hehe" King. A goddamned legend.
I love how big of a GM fan boy he is. I can relate.
Awesome interview. For me as good as or better than the race itself.

Such a dope build. He did a fantastic job on all the carbon fiber. The AWD launches look insane and really highlight the amount of power it puts down. I mean, damn, what a rad car.
That Cutlass is a badass car! One of the most underrated cars that you can make super cool & a ton of power with!
Built by one guy in his garage. Hes so humble and I think hes on a world class level with this build!

I love how you spent so much time with all the details of this fantastic build. Thank you!

Amazing build! Absolutely an inspiration.
Loved cars my whole life and this is my all time favorite build. Everything about it. Like everything.

What a beast! Holley needs to step up and help this with his build and his marriage.
Love seeing badass home built hot-rods like this, props to you Brian!
2 extremely passionate people meet over a incredible machine
4WD launches are a sight to behold!!
That car is a masterpiece! Absolutely amazing!
So humble for an epic garage build. In-house composites... come on. That’s amazing.
This car is so awesome! It launches so hard it's insane. This would have been a great hoonicorn contender
Really glad you got to review this mans awesome car , seen it around for awhile an it's just pure awesomeness.
Cool car. Great carbon work
I missed the AWD on the title... When he said All Wheel Drive I was like WTF?! lol
Trail blazer SS AWD In front end is kinda like gtr34, rack and pinion ifs

Baddest G body out there!
That BEEP BEEP from the reversing truck made me crazy!! at some point I thought it was outside my house lol
Looks like a box of blazer, flys like it too.
Wish I could like this video multiple times.
Symmetrical AWD life, WRX + Cutlass AWD are best friends
This is a work of art
I really wanted to see the AWD Cutlass run the Hoonicorn
I miss my Olds so damn much. This one is sic af.
Yeah, same, wish them and Pontiac get revived at some point, love if they have more desirable and nice modern performance cars if they are still around, also Mercury too

I dig this car. Wasn't he at the speedway barnyard? This thing had lightning rods at the time
The carbon work is nuts! I'm so jealous, wish I could do that lol
such a good job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!making that carbon fiber you self;Congratulationsssss
I love this car. A fellow gbody cutlass owner. The only thing to cap off this masterpiece would be a tasteful amount of bass 🔊 in the trunk. 🤘🏼😁😁
Just amazing.
He says it drives like a truck because he welded-up , (what the spider gears?) it's center differential? I guess that all works when you are going straight.
