  • This first time reaction of "Concerto end 3rd Movement & 4th Movement" by
Virgil Donati is genuinely my first time checking this out
    0:00 Intro
    0:15 Start of song
    5:53 Summary
You can checkout ‪@virgildonaticom‬'s original video without my commentary here: • Concerto end 3rd Movem...
If you'd like to help support me in my future endeavours or guarantee that I definitely make a reaction video to your request I have a Patreon page here: / steveogreacts
If you're interested in seeing my reactions to rock music, you can head to my rock music channel over at: / @steveogrock
When I do my reaction videos I don't press pause because I don't want to interrupt the natural flow of the music as it was originally intended by the artist. I try to vocalise my thoughts in real time as I listen to the song, and then summarise my reaction afterwards.
Please do recommend songs or other artists for me to checkout in future by commenting on this video! I'm constantly on the lookout for great new music and things I've never heard before.

Calling that complicated is like calling the sinking of the Titanic a boating accident.

He is the reason I spend one to two hours a day on polyrhythms.

    Yep! This blew my mind!
I love math. Watching you figure out the patterns in the time signatures and deciphering his technique was just so entertaining. I’m always impressed with drummers that manage to play multiple rhythms simultaneously. This gentleman is on a whole other realm. 😮
Just for fun, after I watched this clip, I researched drummers’ brains to understand how they work differently. Research shows that drum training induces long-term plasticity in the cerebellum and connected cortical thickness. In other words, thicker fibers transfer impulses more quickly (increased brain synapses). Their motor brain areas are also organized more efficiently (which probably explains the multi-tasking in drumming).
Your knowledge, technical chops, sensibility and understanding of music beyond drums really do go a long way when analyzing and breaking down a song, Steve. Always enjoyable to watch. 😊

Primal, atmospheric and a simple but beautiful melody that is kind of a brain worm.

This song is in 4/4 but he thinks in quintuplet most of the time😧. That's why it feels very odd when he delays in usual quarter notes.
I also recommend the songs "Pinprick" and "The Quiet Place" from his newer record. Virgil said that he wants to have 3-4 hours of clinic for each song, so I think it'll be interesting if you react to them😁

This one is mainly in 7/8 I think. A lot of the main themes use 3 bars of 7/8 so I guess you could call it 21/8 if your eally wanted
