I'm glad that Elon is using his fame responsibly and intelligently. He's right about the importance of a question. Thinking starts with curiosity, then is formed into a question, lastly an answer, after much, much thought and research. Silly questions and bad questions have the effect of steering the whole process into oblivion. Knee jerk responses to questions you never spent serious time contemplating kill good questions if you had one and show an undisciplined mind. For those in our world who do, they are the ones pushing the progress of the human race along against the stubborn mass holding it still. Elon is a true intellectual. He is like Einstein, Hubble, Newton, Sagan, Copernicus, Galileo, Pasteur, Currie, Napoleon, Charlemagne and even Caesar. These people and others weren't just leaders or generals or politicians, sages, seers or popular figures. Their most important trait was deep thinking, which set them apart from most of the rest of the human race during their lives. It starts with curiosity. And peeks into existence with a great, pointed, well conceived question. Lacking that you have nothing but a potential for wasting time and effort.

Not everybody has a reading-friendly environment at home. Some children don't get exposed to reading until they start school. You don't need to have a love affair with reading because you're not going to like everything you read in school or in life. The question is, how do you read something you don't like. It takes skills! Love? Learning how to learn is a process that includes reading and writing. Each child shows a different pattern in the process. This doesn't happen with multiple-choice tests and activities from google. Cut and paste activities lead to fragmented thinking. One of my high school students explained why her former history teacher was the best. She was so good at explaining the chapters you didn't have to read the chapter. She also provided fun activities. Sometimes, she would read the chapter to us so we could understand it better. High School? In my 37 years of teaching history, I saw this. Good Luck?
Another thing Elon said that people are going to underestimate the importance of the ability to correctly predict the future. This is a personal ability I've worked on and am quite good at. Yes, I can hear the obligatory mental strain that produces when read. Not a hard prediction. The fact is that being able to accurately predict is important. The process is based on mental discipline, knowledge and eliminating the habitual tendencies which make predictions unreliable and wrong. Being able to accurate predict the future is a tool, just a tool, but one leading to understanding and efficiency. Which explains Elon very well.

My problem with Reading is I hate the process. Learning to read was a nightmare. And now when I go to read a book I want to stop because I remember the nightmare of Learning to read.
It surely depends on the social environment you're in. Around me and in my social circle the most financially and socially successful individuals are those who never opened a book and are proud of it. In such a milieu reading is looked upon with contempt, and great readers, no matter how well educated they are, are bullied, mocked and seen as big losers, unless reading brings them a practical value in terns of money.
It's all about the money, man! Who cares about those silly philosophical or fundamental, ethical or aesthetic, spiritual or soul questions? Just keep the greenbacks rolling in and f*ck the rest! Outsmart the other guy. It's a dog-eat-dog world. And Jesus replied: "What profits a man to gain the world but lose his soul?" Yeah, but can Jesus help you make more money? Perhaps if you're a fast-talking preacher and you start your own televised mega-church...
Really, being realistic is the first step to being able to predict the future (at least to some degree) with less error, but it will still take a lot of tries. Creating it though is better than predicting.
Basically, you have to give access to your kids of only those things who make them extraordinary and intelligent. Like reading books etc. Givr them exposure of these kinda things.
I agree I graduated from high school in 1977 and I feel the whole time I was in school they were teaching us how to think and not from 9th grade on we were exposed to many other books other than just a regular text we read books by Shakespeare we read books by Hermann Hesse by steinbeck orwell and many others
You gain knowledge through books become intelligent and then go against reading, people will consider you more knowledgeable than you are, they will go to an extent listening to your absurd argument or thinking, reading is a must,it keeps your mind active and you gain something from it,there is no loss actually.
Your Universe is a 'Picture Story-book', displayed in a Display Register, ( forming your field of Vision ) of "The Processing System of LIFE".... The Language involves form or Geometry.
What is the purpose of life on earth ? Excellent question and the best answer I have ever heard, space is the answer . Elon Musk inspired me with his words, " space 🚀🚀 is the answer". We need really to expand, explore and discover the universe, it's the only way forward. We need a technological break through in transportations and the advancement of our ability to travel faster, better fuel sources.......that's the only way. Great video 😅😅😅
i have been examining the concept of boredom and how technology may rob a person of it, i often think back to the days of being dragged through department stores as a child...i remember the smell, the sounds, the feeling...would i have these memories if not forced to experience them? should i want them? this external connection, an existential question
I had the same problem. After reading the encyclopedia, I re-read the fiction books I had already read before. The reasons were the same: I always enjoyed reading, national TV was terrible, I lived in a small apartment, didn't have many toys, not internet... there wasn't much left to do, so I read. I am sure many people were/are in the same situation. The big difference is that most of us are not billionaires like Elon! LOL 🥲
Agreed, opting for financial advise is now the best way to go about the investing. Both beginners and Intermediate investors can stay profitable when working with an adviser. Reading books is good but making profit is better.

10-11 for me Man , and the year books 😂👍 Read at least 100 books you want to read people , books on adventure , philosophy , engineering , history , ect 🙏 expand your mind , The questions you seek will become easier to understand 🙏 Remember your mind is a mega computer ⁉️ Limited only by the information it holds that is useful 😂😘👍🙏
There are pros and cons of reading on google. It is impressive that reading is so harmful for eyes. But in my case, I have studied administrative law, it was helpful for me to make the legal mind.
When I was little I used to read more than now, but I wasn't reading all day either, I was outdoors with my sister mischiefing.🤣 She drove me crazy but we had some good times.
I don´t think life is that difficult to understand, however people like Musk have the power to do something about it and go beyond limits. That´s the problem, people live and die. Races have their era. There is nature and a ecosystem we can appreciate it, we do it by the gift of the present. There ´s a cause and consequence for everything. A individual lives by his decisions and the love he or she shares to their neighbor. If you can´t mix with those two, then life will always be miserable no matter you go to Mars or Neptune. People ll never run out of problems and suffering unless they decide to, as individuals and society. There are countries, undeveloped ones mostly, who are wea as individuals so they depend too much on others. There others more developed, where people are too proud and themselves, selfish and won´t care about others well being. In my opinion the world needs balance. That´ ll really change the world and doesn´t require a 200 IQ.

yes, I always read every word in ''Terms and Conditions" and then agree regardless
😆
Obviously reading is very important in our life.
Am i the only one that feels Elon's reading habits at childhood are pretty relatable?
To create the future, you first have to predict it. What would (probably) happen if I do nothing? What would (probably) happen if I do A or B or C?
He's so good. It makes me want to cry.
Thanks a lot for making this!
I would suggest you to please Make a video collection of his talks about the Urgency to ''Make Life Multi-planetary''

That's quite a toxic social environment
you're surrounded by morons then
Get in where you fit in. The point is to expand your mind and experiences, perspectives.
Reading is very important!! Everyone should know how to read!!
I'm so passionate about this I wish Good luck to everyone, find your Purpose in Life Fulfil it & We'll see what the Future Holds.
I think that books and films are much more important than Mars
Really, being realistic is the first step to being able to predict the future (at least to some degree) with less error, but it will still take a lot of tries. Creating it though is better than predicting.
My daughter was describing me in front of teacher. Yes, she's got an A, but...... she said my favourite sports are eating and sleeping.😂
Completely agree with his take on philosophy. They were awful writers!
He’s right about the philosophers. I was very interested in philosophy for a while but a lot of it is quite dull and depressing.
You gain knowledge through books become intelligent and then go against reading, people will consider you more knowledgeable than you are, they will go to an extent listening to your absurd argument or thinking, reading is a must,it keeps your mind active and you gain something from it,there is no loss actually.
"The answer is the universe." -Elon Musk
Your Universe is a 'Picture Story-book', displayed in a Display Register, ( forming your field of Vision ) of "The Processing System of LIFE".... The Language involves form or Geometry.
Dude I feel like I connect with Elon, so much I read the same books
Eu gosto desse cara demais ,você é minha inspiração e minha motivação .você é o cara
We need to protect Elon at all costs for the sake of humanity
What is the purpose of life on earth ? Excellent question and the best answer I have ever heard, space is the answer .
Elon Musk inspired me with his words, " space 🚀🚀 is the answer".
We need really to expand, explore and discover the universe, it's the only way forward. We need a technological break through in transportations and the advancement of our ability to travel faster, better fuel sources.......that's the only way.
Great video 😅😅😅
The more you read, the more you want to change planets. That's the philosophy behind Space X, Tesla, etc.
Miracle: Marks on a page are taken in by our eyes and our brain translates those marks on the page into a story. Profound. A miracle. Thank you, God.
i have been examining the concept of boredom and how technology may rob a person of it, i often think back to the days of being dragged through department stores as a child...i remember the smell, the sounds, the feeling...would i have these memories if not forced to experience them? should i want them? this external connection, an existential question
I read the encyclopedia when I was ten because I ran out of things to read 😂😂😂
I had the same problem. After reading the encyclopedia, I re-read the fiction books I had already read before. The reasons were the same: I always enjoyed reading, national TV was terrible, I lived in a small apartment, didn't have many toys, not internet... there wasn't much left to do, so I read.
I am sure many people were/are in the same situation. The big difference is that most of us are not billionaires like Elon! LOL 🥲
Thanks for posting this kinda videos
He sounded so frustrated even thinking about a lecture 🤣

Reading books has done me more good than harm when it comes to investing and being frugal with my finance.
Agreed, opting for financial advise is now the best way to go about the investing. Both beginners and Intermediate investors can stay profitable when working with an adviser. Reading books is good but making profit is better.
My CFA *Julianne Iwersen Niemann,* a renowned figure in her line of work. I recommend researching her credentials further. She has many years of experience and is a valuable resource for anyone looking to navigate the financial market.
like im I didn't read books as a kid never liked, but now I see the importance of it, I didn't know how to read books as a kid growing up in school was hard I had to learn in a slow class with others, but now I read
Learn as much as you can predict future from ,Another way to say "Limits of my language are limits to my world

There are pros and cons of reading on google. It is impressive that reading is so harmful for eyes. But in my case, I have studied administrative law, it was helpful for me to make the legal mind.
Great books shows great lives and experiences
BECAUSE OF BUSINESS YES IM A AUTHOR YOU FEEL ME
When I was little I used to read more than now, but I wasn't reading all day either, I was outdoors with my sister mischiefing.🤣 She drove me crazy but we had some good times.
I pray for ELON MUSK to get well soon
