thanks for the calc! I assume under "Your stats" the "Increased Damage%" is a total aggregate of all modifiers and does not differentiate from Elemental dmg increase and attack damage increase etc etc. yes?
Thanks for the work! After looking at your calculations, i noticed some additional important informations: - %inc ele damage gets you more value if you dont already have a lot of %inc damage on tree/items, ik, kinda self explanatory as its not a "more" stat, but maybe not obvious to everyone - as this sheet cannot / does not factor in penetration (from sources like ascendancy node for monk): CRIT CHANCE is very very important. even more than calculated here as it will increase your damage output significantly through penetration (especially on bosses!) - IF you have Cold Infusion on your Ice Strike: your Lightning / Fire Damage on the weapon (or other sources) will be less effective for this skill. Its not really that important, but keep it in the back of your mind. Similar to that are conditional modifiers for specific Ele damage (like +50% Cold Damage from Herald passive node): this applies as +50% AFTER conversion of 80% phys to cold. - keep other stats in mind (as he stated in the video too^^): % block chance or even AS as very high AS will eat your mana (same with +lvl of gems) With this: i want my pob! Neeeed it so much xD
crit chance does help; however, I use Heavy Frost to ignore resists against frozen enemies, and I murderize most bosses while they are frozen, you can check my trial of the sekhema video I just posted as a ref
another thing to keep in mind is what kind of skill you're using. if it has a long wind up or has a + total seconds to attack time, attack speed isn't going to do much for you
I feel you. Bought a weapon which I thought would double my dps. Barely 20% increase. This tool will help sooo damned much. Would prefer a “preview “ option within the game though.
My best weapon is an Advanced Slicing QS with 388 max phys and +4 melee. I think I was lucky with with the +4, because my Chaos Inoculation build happens to have oodles of mana. It's funny this thing is by far superior to anything else that graced my currency slot, and it's something I think I started mapping with. From tier 1. I have one divine orb now, and I thought I could easily buy a better weapon with it. But no. Apparently my Advanced staff is already beyond that price range.
Happen to me as well. Had a 15 ex weapon that I've been running through T1-T14 and recently purchased a 5 DIV weapon assuming it'd be the better but only got 2% increased in dps. Fortunately I was able to find a buyer but it did scare me lol. Edit: I really hope poe2 integrates the market in game and adds tools to clearly explain to new players what is considered a "better" gear.
If you have the means and mana a cool thing weapon lvl does is increase the number of hits of bell and also the % evasion and hit from winddancer. If only adding it to formulas was not such a PITA
Bought 2 warstaffs of equal level and damage. One was pure physical with +4 to melee skill gems and the other was split lightning/phys with added elemental. Both had mana leech. Both cost 1 Exalted. Dps ended up being exactly the same, but the +4 skill gem drained my mana while the lightning staff left me mana positive. You just need to know your build before blowing large amounts. Until then, buy multiple and use the best one and resell the rest.
Excellent tool and demonstration. Appreciate the upload and all of your Monk content. I just hit lvl 90 today and it's all due to your killer info, tips, and guides. 💯
What's the score for a 1div or 2 div warstaff you guys reckon? An unintended benefit is this lets me know which passives are better if I have to choose between some +crit chance or +crit bonus.
Hearing you talk about T1 stats on the god weapon threw me for a loop until i remembered thats how they did it in PoE1. I kinda wish they wouldnt have flipped it around and kept t1 the highest
Any chance you could add the advanced versions of the quarterstaffs to the tool? I simply can't use it until I get an expert version of a quarterstaff and I'm fairly certain a lot of others who don't own an expert one are having the same issue perhaps?
Thanks for the effort, But I'm doing Acolyte version and there is significant difference with how it works. Rather than having Crit I have extra chaos damage procs so i should probably focus on pure elemental damage and attack speed for myself.
Idk if this is good or not but this is what I did. I got the Collapsing Horizon Wyrm Quarterstaff (unique quarterstaff) with 9.58 crit and +2 to all levels. I find that this merely 127dps staff outperforms my 650dps because the crits become more consistent. I then rearranged my passive tree to get more crit stuff. I've had to use inspiration on my ice strike and a lot of mana leech/on kill on other gear but I do believe that this is budget friendly (maybe 5 div for full gear+weapon) since the staff was quite cheap so at the time I decided to just keep it. If any monk wants to ask question, feel free to ask.
Really? That’s super confusing. I would never have considered any staff with such low dps to be more powerful than one with 650 dps just because of 9.8% Crit.
Would it be possible, and maybe make it simpler, to make it work so that you just unequip your weapon and then input your stats with no weapon in hand to use to calculate with?

Hi Don! I had a question if you happen to see this as you may know. I currently have a 700 physical DPS staff and according to the spreadsheet this is still stronger than a 650 physical DPS staff with 100% increase elemental damage attack. Does that seem right? Is rage on hit worth it on weapons?
Not to my knowledge, you want that on jewels or a skill you spam.
We need PoB 2 so bad haha.
My mind was blown after this video and Travics video. No telling how many good staffs I have trashed bc I thought they weren't good. I was all in on the all PDPS idea, not even looking at staffs with high ele/elemental damage.
I tried equipping a few that had high rolls of these and my damage skyrocketed. I have a 580 PDPS staff which I thought was decent and it is but going to a 250 pdps weap9n with good ele rolls almost doubled my damage (according to PoEs ingame numbers... no telling what the reality is though.)
Also, does anyone know if % elemental damage to attacks counts after phys to cold/lightning conversions or just before and to the initial added elemental damage from the weapon?
Waiting for PoB2, normaly 06 january.
Because right now, A LOT of items are overpriced and I really think that PoB2 will drop prices when people will see the 0 value of their items.
nah the reason items are overpriced is because GGG did not make their market able to calc the value of a divine correctly, right now it thinks it is still ~7ex so it sorts accordingly.
@@DonTheCrown Oh and obviously thank you for your tool. It helped a lot to find cheap upgrades :)
You're the Boss
im a lvl 90 monk, i have a 720 dps warstaff, yet my ice strike damage sits at 26k dps and up to 50k, i notice u have a wooping 200k damage, how u have it so high?
better weapon, better jewels, higher level and more passives, also note this is my MF gear so I get nearly 300k with different rings
Is elemental base warstaf bad ?
i just get one .. maelstorm pile expert crackling quarterstaf
Adds 46 - 83 Fier
Adds 64 - 109 cold
76% elm increased whit attak
27 speed attak
2.36 crit chanc
Can anyone tell me?
crackling is pretty bad base, no phys so never leech and cant scale from % phys
💔@@DonTheCrown
It was my first div 🥲
How do you account for +melee skills on warstaffs?
This doc doesn't do it, because you generally don't want that mod anyways.
thanks :)
Best I can do is sort by exalts, set the max to 50 and pick the highest dps staff because rarity is broken in this game and I don't have any divines.
Ya at 200+ hours I should have the gear I need drop. Poe trade is half the game right now it’s not looking good for first time players like myself, the hype train has left the building.
I’m lvl 88 and reached t16 maps but only found 1 divine. I’ve pretty much given up farming. I don’t feel like I can gear up anymore because I can’t find divines
@@aznboi890you gotta sort by exalts on the trade site. You can buy way better gear for a few exalts than what people list for 1 divine. It's just higher on list because the site calculates 1 div as 5 ex.
@@aznboi890 I am gonna annoy you, I got a divine drop during act 3 campaign and used it to buy a 2 charm slot belt. That was still when one divine was like 250 ex
I could have had a totally juiced build without spending that divine but I am a noob and I didn't know better
I really don’t think increased rarity do much in finding more divines. Got 300% and don’t see any difference. More uniques maybe, but looks like currencies do not scale with rarity.
198k DPS WTF? Im at 33.7k lev 80 Monk and mostly followed your build....something is off here.
you probably need a weapon and jewel upgrade then
@@DonTheCrown No weapon is gonna give me 150k more DPS, not even if i had the currency to buy one, 45 ex and 2 div aint getting you shit. thx to all the no lifers that farm all day.
I need the best warstaff 5 devines can buy hook me up g
Wyrm staff

Great tool, tried it today. Found a 51% upgrade but ingame it was only 18% Due to all the flat dmg mods from gear. Plezz add it to the bottom part of the sheet so i dont have to add it to both weapons in the compare.
Google sheets price about to go to the moon
Tier 1 is the best tier on PoE 1, PoE 2 is the worst.
I have a 708 dps wep and my 328 dps weapon with 60% elemental dmg runes raises my attacks more by a tiny bit which im shocked
