This speech encapsulates the essence of this man. He is a humble, intelligent, gracious, generous, grateful human being who has tremendous perspective on life. He effortlessly entertains us while he educates us. He is at once proud to be American while seeing and acknowledging the country's faults. If all Americans were even a little like Spielberg, America would be so much closer to being that shining city on the hill.
Congratulations Steven Spielberg! Time 100. Well deserved. Such an inspiration to anyone who dreams of becoming a professional storyteller. Thank you!!!
After all the stories of sleezy Hollywood execs abusing people, it's so refreshing and uplifting to hear the opposite; both Ke and Drew have praised Spielberg over the way he cared and treated them, both on the set and off. Truly a sweet, wonderful man on top of being an amazing filmmaker
Steven Spielberg is the greatest film director in history, making hit films for well over 50 years, classics that no other modern filmmaker can touch, true, some of this films haven't been hits, but his films have had far greater success and have changed film history greater than any other living film director today, exceeding both James Cameron AND Martin Scorsese both of which have only won ONE Oscar for Best Director. Spielberg has been nominated more times as a director than any other in history and is the winner of TWO Best DIrector Oscars.
I met Steven and talked, and congratulated al last, on March, 21th, 1994, at the Academy Awards, at the Music Center, in LA. Three hours before his great two moments. I was there, in part, because of him. I dedicated all my life to study American Film History and making documentaries about it. Well, for strange that it seeems to all of you, when I name him as one of the best filmmakers of all time, everybody, even film students, from all cinema schools, say to me: ''And do you tell us that you know about movies? They considered, here in Argentina, that a filmmaker who is sensible (sometimes), is not talented director. Pf course, they do not know, and never heard of, 50 great filmmakers of the American movies. Not just one. They see two Hitchcock films, Hawks (I don´t know they choose only Hwaks in here), Casablanca as the icon (and only one, american film to see), and then jumping to the independent of the '90s, of course, most of them: boring with boring films and static methods. And all the european directors, boring and slow and without any kind of profile for storytelling, are geniuses for them. Almost no actors, no expressions, no rythm, no nothing. So they are formed like that. That is what they taught to them, every minute. I cannt speal with anybody in here. Story of my life. I cannot say that to the American friends an filmmakers I know or sometimes I wrote to and communicating bakc and forth, because American don´t like it to criticize their own country. So how I can express that I made documentaries which I cannot show in here at all. Nobody cares or even are interested. I was born in the wrong place. jcf.
This man still knows how to tell a story! I’ve seen plenty of his movies. ET, Indiana Jones series, the first two Jurassic Parks, Jaws, The Color Purple, Hook, The Terminal, War of the Worlds and most recent West Side Story and The Fabelmans.
And while you're at it, try "The Sugarland Express" (1974) for seize at well. As an unconditional Spielberg devotee myself, I consider that movie one of his best, and a personal favorite of mine. 🎬🎥👍😉
Well, whenever you've got the time and place for yourself, give this "little" GEM at least one try. Ofcourse I can't give you any guarantees you'll be as passionate about Spielberg's Early Work as I am, But it's without a shadow of a doubt one of his finest pictures. 🎬🎥👍😉
@@putinscat1208 hah, nah, but thats funny. Iirc, Time puts out a list of 100 people that have been impactful each year and Ke made the list this time around. So technically not an award, but might as well be one LOL

Even Scorsese has had some REAL turds in his career as well, but neither one of them can hold a candle to Spielberg who has TWO best director Oscars, compared to only ONE for Cameron and Scorsese. Steven Spielberg is still really sharp in his older years. It's amazing to see.
Why shouldn't be sharp at old age?
And being presented an award by Drew and Ke? The nicest people in the world? Who he hired as little kids? Shut up I'm not crying.
The kid in them just popped back out with all that enthusiasm and glee, its so adorable
You are so naive.
