@Thomas - love the journey you're on of integrating 'health' & 'fitness'. During this conversation with @Stan, you touched on the osmotic reaction that occurs when you flood the system with carbs / insulin too fast, and all the sodium and minerals rush from the bloodstream into the cell. What is the side effect of that? This is so fascinating to me, and would really enjoy learning more about this and how to better mitigate the negatives, and manage and manipulate the benefits. Can you point me to any past videos or articles that explains this in more detail? Or possibly, this could be a future video topic? I do intermittent fasting and carnivore / keto and workout daily, and if I have a cheat meal, my personal experience is that it creates all kinds of electrolyte imbalances that linger for quite a while, no matter how much potassium, magnesium, chloride or sodium I consume during / after. Would really like to have a gameplan for this. Thanks!

I love this so much, I started the carnivore diet a while ago and cut our carbs completely and absolutely hated it it gave me literally no energy so I some back in to keep me going, not alot at all but enough to get through 3rd shift and I feel great. Mostly eating red meat, chicken once in a while, fish and protein shakes, some cheese. I've been progressively losing weight and not losing too much muscle, I'll fast between 6pm and 10pm. After I get home at 7 am I go for a 4 mile walk/ run and get home right around 10 pm and eat. Go to sleep right away I try to get atleast close to 7 hours of sleep but doesn't usually work out lol. I'll wake up and eat about 2 more times before 6pm/6:30pm and try to eat a gram of protein per bodyweight and do It over. I have recently hit a plateau so I had a ton of carbs and protein and fasted again and immediately lost 2lb and continue to drop, just had to shock the body a little bit lol. I was 300 lbs but I've been lifting since I was in highschool so I'm pretty built being 24 years old, but now I'm 273.2 and progressively losing weight and weight training around 3 times a week to maintain muscle but my primary focus is to lose body fat and continue to eat whole foods, keep carbs low until I'm at a weight I'm comfortable at, and keep additional sugars out. I also need to focus on staying as hydrated as possible.

Thanks so much for this!! I thought I was fucking up eating carbs and not fasting enough but after seeing this I've actually been doing pretty good and I feel much better about how I've been eating. Thanks again guys. Very helpful and informative!
I know everyone is different, but today I discovered that I don't need to be in a caloric surplus to build muscle. 5 months ago I had a Dexa scan, and from that day until today, I ate 2200kcals/day, which is a 300-500/day caloric deficit, along with a 17/7 IF, and lifting 3-4 days/week. Lost 26lbs of fat, gained 6lbs of muscle. Both Thomas and Stan have been tremendously helpful.
I tried keto and intermittent fasting for about 18 months while workout out regularly and now I do an anabolic diet with plenty of carbs and no fasting. The results for me have been night and day different. My gains now in all aspects have significantly improved, DOMS has been significantly decreased, and my cholesterol numbers have all came within range as before they were all out of range.
Helpful and enlightening as well as reenforcing certain truths about building muscle. I'm actually about to enter a huge mtor period that should last many months and have found this info applicable. Thanks!
Thank you for this video !! Videos like this or your one with Mark Bell 🔔 are definitely what I woukd love to see !!! Awesome to hear the differences!!! Next up you vs Mike O Heran !!!!
I thought the body can absorb only 30g of protein within 2 hours no matter the size of the individual. Hence the reason the meals are spread out. It sounds like you're saying cram 150 g (if you're 150# that is) of protein in two meals within a four hour time.
I think the main reason so many keto and intermittent fasting folks have such a hate relationship with carbohydrates is because many people that are following these protocols are diabetics. So we are searching a cure to diabetes as a primary goal versus bodybuilding and getting in super shape. Most of the people I talk to you that have this heat for carbs are in the camp.
It is great to hear you two talk together about fasting and building muscle. You guys are the dream team for anyone trying to eat healthy and build muscle.
I would love to see a video specifically related to Metabolic Syndrome, and how Fasting and Keto can reverse these problems. So many people have high triglycerides, belly fat, hypertension, pre-diabetes etc. and may be misinformed as to what and how these problems are created and reversed and what types of foods really help/hurt .
Like many weightlifters, I ate meat and simple carbs like a mad man for 2 decades. I got big and strong pretty easily, but it lead to a road of symptoms relating around metabolic disease, calcium deposits, hemmerhoids, joint issues, migrains etc. at 40 I ditched grains, gluten, sugar, dairy and went plant based and limited meat to a couple times a WEEK rather than 4 times a day. I lost weight without trying and now sit within a healthy lean frame. 6ft down from 220-180. Headaches gone, chronic inflammation gone, blood pressure normal, lipids good. The one thing I noticed that suffered was my sex drive, but I cant say that diet related as I was dealing with other emotional stuff. I wish I ate this way since my 20s my body would have been a lot less beat up. My mains carbs are potatoes and chick peas, tons of greens and fruits with steak and fish sprinkled in a couple times a week. A normal meal for me will be a large plate of steamed broccoli, apsagus and potatos.
Great valuable informative discussion - Thanks Thomas for all your Keto advise - I used it as a great tool to shed 35kg's still use a Keto like lifestyle - but do now use carbs for certain training and perfomance enhancements, as you share. Thanks Stan for you Wealth of knowledge. Much appreciated - all the best for 2022.
fasting was talked about in sixpack shortcuts with special guest (forgot the name) also interviewed arnold schwartzenager, fasting is good for bodybuilding because insulin is an antagonist to growth hormone (HGH important if you're not in your 20s) fasting also doesn't determine your calorie intake i.e if you need 3000 calories you still consume that, in the end its about how hard you push in exercising
int fasting and getting to a lean state each day takes a bit of just get up and do it, i used to be into weights and mirrors in my 20s but fighting and beating cancer at 47 was a new set of rules and a mountain climbers mind on, now 2 years past it through 2020 and the lockdown i started boxing although a 3 month hyper extension injury set me back from a hard jab of all things , i can say that interval training on heavy bag and in fasting i got in better shape phs and ment and highly recommend it and a bit of weight lifting, it doset take all day but the benefits and change over 6 months is brilliant, and the body finds itself :) up and at em

Thanks. I learned a lot from the discussion, wisdom targeted at a steady workout routine
Hey Tommy this is one of my favorite collaboration you've done...Loved what you both said all of it!!
Super informative and easily explained even if some of the topics cover really elite level stuff. Fastest 45 minutes in a while!
My 2 fitness/body design GIANTS sitting next to each other; AWESOME discussion!! Thank-you Mr. DeLauer!
Like that format. It's lik sitting with you two in the kitchen. Very nice and informative too!
I really enjoyed this talk and how the info was presented. Thank you both.
Thanks both!
No ad for the Kooler? What the heck! Great content from 2 of the best

Thomas always come out with the perfect videos at the perfect time.
Helpful and enlightening as well as reenforcing certain truths about building muscle. I'm actually about to enter a huge mtor period that should last many months and have found this info applicable. Thanks!
Excellent video! 2 of my favourites in the industry!
Thank you for this video !! Videos like this or your one with Mark Bell 🔔 are definitely what I woukd love to see !!! Awesome to hear the differences!!! Next up you vs Mike O Heran !!!!
This is what I needed!! THANK YOU
I thought the body can absorb only 30g of protein within 2 hours no matter the size of the individual. Hence the reason the meals are spread out. It sounds like you're saying cram 150 g (if you're 150# that is) of protein in two meals within a four hour time.
Excellent content gentlemen! Love the working together and the accommodations for different diets and plans.
Excellent discussion
Very good content here Thomas. Keep up the great work!
Thank You Stan And Thomas for doing this!
Lots of great info packed into one awesome video, ty! Need to watch this one again! 💫🌠
Do a oral-glucose-tolerance-test, and you get a better feeling for your body, if you need more or less carbs for your fitness journey.
Much appreciated - all the best for 2022.
fasting was talked about in sixpack shortcuts with special guest (forgot the name) also interviewed arnold schwartzenager, fasting is good for bodybuilding because insulin is an antagonist to growth hormone (HGH important if you're not in your 20s) fasting also doesn't determine your calorie intake i.e if you need 3000 calories you still consume that, in the end its about how hard you push in exercising
great convo! and the "mapquest" reference was an awesome blast from the past! 😂🤣
Great video guys. I find small portions of super dense foods in the morning pre workout burns the most fat.
Bing watching your content! Thank you!
Very interesting..both athletes know their business..keep sharing the good info!!
Wow two of my favorite nutrition influencers together. *pours cup of coffee*
fantastic interview. Thank you
This is so interesting. They are so knowledgeable.
Fantastic share thank you
Stan, dropping knowledge!
Thank you Stan and Thomas!!!
int fasting and getting to a lean state each day takes a bit of just get up and do it, i used to be into weights and mirrors in my 20s but fighting and beating cancer at 47 was a new set of rules and a mountain climbers mind on, now 2 years past it through 2020 and the lockdown i started boxing although a 3 month hyper extension injury set me back from a hard jab of all things , i can say that interval training on heavy bag and in fasting i got in better shape phs and ment and highly recommend it and a bit of weight lifting, it doset take all day but the benefits and change over 6 months is brilliant, and the body finds itself :) up and at em
Very interesting content here. Thank you
Would love to know why Stan quit making videos. It’s been 8-9 months since I’ve seen him post something on UA-cam and it’s a shame. His stuff is gold
Guessing it’s to do with new books and his program. Something he wants to sell first, before sharing in podcasts.
