You never disappoint, Tristan! The epic, bird's eye vistas we all get to see on your channel are absolutely incredible. I will never see 99% of them in person, so I am, again, truly grateful!
Yeah, the exhilaraton of reaching the top is short lived because the return or down climb brings the next phase of concern, from the observer/ mom's perspective. And the sounds of those lose rocks he inadvertently kicks doesn't help either! Glad that everything went safely 🙏
I watched my son climb in person once. It wasn’t as high but it was as steep. Somehow I made peace with it knowing that he’s an adventurer and there’s nothing I can do about it. His girlfriend and I did the bottom portion of the climb (about 15 feet 🤣). Then we watched with hearts in throats 😝
UA-cam is now feeding your videos when I'm randomly searching, or when I'm after something in particular. Naturally your videos hijack whatever I was doing. I've only watched about five of your videos and each one has been full of fascinating things whether it's ghost towns, botany or, as with this one, secrets of rock climbing. I've always wondered how climbers get their ropes back after a descent. The subject matter is continually interesting, as is the history. Your camera work is so brilliant, often exquisite, along with the music you complement everything with. It makes me wonder what motivates you to share your exploits with the world since it's obviously a lot more work intensive than to simply travel and camp and explore, but whatever the return I'm glad you do it as this is one of the best YT channels I've seen. Thank you for your excellent and generous videos.
Love your videos and your music choices! My son died 9 years ago in a climbing accident so my heart was in my throat a few times during your climb. Your drone footage is also incredible! You show us views we could never see otherwise! Thank you and continue to be safe.
I’ve already fallen and I’m sitting at my kitchen counter. I love this stuff, but my legs turn to jelly just watching. Grew up in that country-love the desert. PS - you should be happy that so many are out enjoying this country. 😁
This video is AMAZING and I think you are also ! I never imagined I'd ever climb a real mountain much less repel it, but I actually felt the terror of it and the excitement at the same time. I have no words to explain it. THANK YOU SIR !!
Thanks for taking us along. I really appreciate how you say "We." It's a small, but important (inclusionary) detail. I used to do risky stuff when younger, now I just enjoy watching others experience that part of their lives. You're a joy to watch, because you truly enjoy yourself.
Very smooth going down that ‘mountain of broken glass’...thank you and take care and I think you have a wife, so kudos to her, for understanding you and us; who watch your adventure... she is special too.
Holy Jiminy Christmas!!! That would kill me! Even in my 20's that would have kicked my butt. As a 56 year old cancer infected semi-senior citizen, no way man. LOL! I'm at the RV stage of my life. And you packed a drone with you all the way up that mountain? You're a tough customer!
The old beat-up car looks like a Buick to me. This climb was amazing as well as dangerous. I would never have done that, even in my twenties! You've got skills!
Ditto ... my husband and I were thinking 'Does Cassie know what he's doing?' I guess we've kinda 'adopted ' you two and get worried at times. But you've also inspired the explorer in me to go further than I ever have. Be safe and well.
A) you are crazy. B) thanks for being crazy!! I enjoy your videos. Often I make note of where you have been, so if I am in the area I can stop by these locations. But as I am a retired lady, I will not be climbing, but appreciate your bravery and skill and get to ‘experience’ something I will never do. I agree, the drone is EPIC. Thanks again. Sue from Indiana
I love your constant reminder to not try this myself. No worries, I won’t! And I thank you for climbing it for me. I will now call you my favorite mountain goat you tuber. You climbed that like a mountain goat!
Thank you for the climb! I enjoyed the whole adventure and glad it was you and not me (yeah, even a little feeling of vertigo watching you do all the work). And that burger is a nice reward.
Thank you. So gorgeous. What a view from the top. I was good, but felt tinges of vertigo @ the very top while flying the drone. All good! Thanks again; it was very enjoyable!
Perfect evocative music! Congrats on reaching the summit and the drone footage is exceptional. I have no fear of heights and have done some rock climbing and some spelunking which required some vertical scaling of wet and muddy boulders to exit the caves but I have to add I have never climbed anything with so much loose shale. I knew you did this safely because you posted this video but watching this climb did breech my comfort zone if for that reason only, even though I am aware that you are a very competent climber. Thanks for sharing this spectacular area and scenery plus showing the effort required to reach this place in order to provide these views as well as providing the commentary as you climbed! Admirable result!
Yeah, this thing was a loose pile of junk lol. But the actual cliff sections that I had to climb were solid enough to not feel too sketchy. Thanks for watching!
Sorry for the repeated comments, but I tend to comment as I watch 🤷🏻♀️. You’re so right about the drone footage and how it demonstrates the ‘amazingness’ of where you are. Looking down upon the summit had a completely different view. From the drone perspective I could see NO viable way to get to where you were standing. Kudos for an awesome climb and excellent coverage 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thanks for taking us with you. I definitely would not be doing it myself. My stomach was doing a few flip flops just watching you do it. Beautiful views at the top.
NOPE! I have no idea how Cassie stands the stress of you off doing this sort of climbing alone. But, you are skilled at it and it is wonderful to see the views I'd never see on my own. Thanks.
this one was scary to watch for sure! might be the most scared I've been watching. when he's doing it I am not there but if I were I'd faint. however I know he is skilled and makes safe decisions so I have trust in his ability to go adventure and come home safely :)
Tristan, I've been watching your videos from 3 years forward for the past 2-3 weeks. They have been a refreshing change from the assortment of news, history, travel, and political stuff I usually binge watch. I am envious of your freedom to do these things. I have a travel trailer ( 5th Wheeler) but at this time not the resources to take on these adventures of yours. I have always had a certain wanderlust insides of me and at 73, I don't have many more years to do some trips at even a quarter scale of yours. Had I done these things in my 20s and 30s, it would have been just a lot of great memories I would have accumulated. I have so my life responsibilities behind me now. Gonna make it a point to downsize this spring and summer and do some drivable RV trips after I sell my 5th wheel. Getting into your pace, your editing and your ability to rock climb, with the confidence you have is like taking all of us along without the danger and with the drone, even more spectacular. I wonder, was it a big learning curve to control a drone from atop a butte like you just showed us? I loved that you do a step by step procedure to going up and coming down, via repelling, these seemingly impossible buttes and rock outcroppings to downright mountains. I like that you take us throughout the west. I am in the California foothills and have access to some great rugged areas with certain routes. More recently you took some trips into the mid-west and even into Illinois, Kentucky and Tennessee. Each trip is well planned out and I can see you are dedicated to this. You say you are an writer/ author. I'd like to read and research your travel memoirs. Anyway, my compliments to you, your lovely wife to have the patience and courage to deal with not knowing your adventuresome whereabouts while holding down the fort. She seems like such a sweet lady. You are blessed. Well, carry on, keep your videos coming and each one has something unique. I favorite all of them so I can one day get to these locations. 🙌🙏👏☺️🌄⛺🛣️🏞️🏜️
What an absolutely amazing trip!!! IF I were to attempt this I would have quit @6:15 “the end of the road”. Tristan says “last little scramble” @ 16:40 yet still climbing with selfie stick in hand. Ok, let me exhale. Thank you for sharing.
What an amazing video. You were definitely born to be doing this. Climbing Half Dome was the closest I ever came to any rock climbing. Enjoying your trips vicariously is great, since my hiking has been curtailed from a spinal cord injury.
I’m NOT a rock climber. I’ve done some repelling. Heights bother me some. But standing at the very top is something I couldn’t do. So thank you for the view from the top. As Roy Rogers said. “Happy trails to you, until we meet again “ etc. etc.
Brings back memories of camping in the Needles District of Canyonlands and climbing the Six Shooter Peaks back in the mid-90s. Love desert camping and climbing in the Spring. Awesome video.
"Yeah! We did this!" You cracked me up with that statement! You did a fabulous job! What a view at the top. Job well done - thanks for taking us along.
Even though you scared this old lady, I thank God for watching over you and I thank you for sharing with us. I learned a lot about repelling skills from watching you. Not that I would ever do it (I get dizzy at high altitudes) but it was very educational! Thank you, Tristan!
my new favorite video on your channel!! Dude, you are amazing! That was an incredible climb. The drone videos are fantastic and definitelty my favorite!! THANKS, you just gave this old man a rush!
My husband thinks the car is a Desoto. Love how you don't run the sentences together with editing like a lot of UA-camrs do. Jamming sentences together without allowing that people breath, makes me anxious and I have to turn them off. You have a nice, natural cadence that is pleasant to listen to. Also love how clear you are about where you are, where things are & what they are. I am a new viewer, but it seems you love arid places. Also, your not just talking to young, healthy hikers. I am retired with replaced knees- I think Angel's Landing Hike Would be dangerous for me- but it looks glorious!!!
DON'T MAKE ME LOOK DOWN!!! But yay for your success at the summit; thanks for the 360 view. And the drone footage was spectacular; made me feel I was there... I may have gotten dizzy. Thank you for another impressive video.
Thanks for the exquisite views you did a really good job of climbing that thing and explaining repelling and how to be careful cautious and safe, I wouldn’t climb it
I’ve seen rock climbers go straight up vertical near the Rockies and always thought they had some kind of death wish. I never understood it, yet I do understand. The thrill, the sense of accomplishment, the views, make it worth it, I can see now, from your drone shots. They are epic and I love the drone shots. All that loose rock made me a little nervous, though. And I always wondered how do you get the rope down. Now I know. Thanks for filming and explaining that part! Loving your adventures!!!
Great job on videotaping this episode. Esp interesting having you explain how the rappeling was set-up & used. Also appreciated seeing some close-ups of the rock climbing. And magnificent drone shots!
Great views and drone shots. It was lucky that is not a National Park or something, so you could use the drone. I think your definition of "low level" and "tame" is a bit different then mine. LOL. While you were doing that, I was actually thinking, that would be a perfect climb to do alone. That way you don't have to worry about killing your partner with rocks. 👣😎👍☮️
I usually love your adventures. I imagine going along and enjoying most of them although I’m much older. I use to love climbing, but always used a belay. So watching this really made my heart pound. I’m aging faster than I thought. All I could think about was a rock coming loose, a slip of a step or hand hold. I’m glad you trust yourself and know your body so well but… if I were your wife or mother or even as your vicarious travel partner, I’d sure like to see you use a rope more and or a partner to climb with. I know you are careful but I also know “stuff” happens! We need you to stay alive and keep us adventuring along with you if only on line!! Please be safe!!
That was the most spectacular beginning of any of your videos! "We did it"😂That just cracked me up. I'm definitely part of the 99.99999% I was surprised to hear you say that this climb was more difficult than the ascent of Gannett (that climb just freaked me out - my fav video 😍) Two questions that hopefully you will show/answer on a future video: 1) Pls video accessing the roof top carrier. Better yet, pls ask your wife if she'd show us. Is a small step stool needed? and 2) on a future rig tour, if you'd discuss any differences in your sleep system for autumn or is it the same as your winter system. I love the Go Pro view of the climbs vs the stationary camera shots. It feels like I'm really there. Thanks again for taking us along!
Somethings are meant to be enjoyed afar. Living in the Ohio I enjoy even the simple western terrain that you explore that I can only see from your great youtube videos. You show all people all of the west who only wish they could explore. Thanks again
I'm 65 and I'm so impressed with your videos.... What a @@@@ climb! thanks for sharing this great video and you go by yourself... I hike alone all the time..and take trips arcross the country on my Harley by myself. I tent camp with my Harley. thanks again... I would have never seen a place like that without your video
Tristan, Thank you for your generosity taking these adventures and sharing them with us! Have done much hiking over the years, but never did rappel (and at 65 probably never will); felt like I was with you. Thanks!!! -Ron
Yes you have no idea the pull a peak like that one pulls me towards it , I suffer from not getting to do it and here you are dragging me along with you via YT what a world we live in. And TY too
That was a good workout ... always love the drone footage. Rest up, see ya next time ... be safe. PS: Thanks for the lessons about how you get the rope down.
Another awesome adventure ‘with’ you - thanks for taking us along! Love the music in this one (and in your other videos as well). Safe travels and catch ya on your next hike 😎
Crikey! Those rocks look as stable as a giant deck of cards. Got vertigo just watching the drone footage, and was so happy to see you choose to rappel down. Kudos on a stellar climb. Tell your mom not to watch this one!
I had to watch parts through my fingers and even look away a couple times. Really appreciate your explanations, matter-of-fact delivery and editing choices. Well done!
Very impressive. I was there a couple of years ago, but never thought to climb it. (Much too old now to do those solo climbs.) I bought my first Geiger Counter after visiting this mountain, which I now take with me when hiking in the uranium mining areas of Utah. I learn a lot from your videos that enhance my solo trips. Thank you. Beautiful drone work too!
Congratulations Tristan for that beautiful climb. Made me nervous while sitting in front of my computor. This is probably the nicest video since I have been following you. Thanks.
Love the view. My son lost a friend in Moab when he was guiding a canyoneering trip. Be careful. We went past those sculptures many times on the way home and never stopped. Thanks for sharing. I miss Moab.
I gotta tell ya... when I see these amazing views and adventures that you let us share... I feel very lucky to have found your channel here. It's really a privilege to enjoy these sights with you. It may sound super sappy but its my truth! Thanks Mr.
Well done lad! Those handholds sure looked sketchy and loose. I'm glad nothing broke off for you in such a remote place. But you are still immortal and seem to know/judge limitations well. Great stuff!!!
This was my first time of seeing one of your videos and WOW! This was spectacular !! What a thriller!!! I’ve read all the comments and my legs and guts are still weakened in knots!! You are amazing! I was really tempted to turn this off, every inch of the beginning, but then realized you wouldn’t have posted this video if you had fallen and died!! I felt your excitement and joy the entire way! You are a special person to want to share your incredible experience with strangers! Thank you for giving me the thrill of excitement that I could never get on my own! I’m a new subscriber! Gail from Michigan
Now THAT was a FULL day`s 'bird`s eye' adventure ! Thanks for taking us along. Would like to hear status reports on your 'little mule' (Rav4) from time to time (mileage, capabilities, likes/dislikes, etc...). Happy Trails !
I love the RAV4. Only thing I don't like about it is that it doesn't have much ground clearance. Other than that, it's great. But I think that's a good idea for a video in the future. Thanks 👍
You are so brave to rappel on your own! Crazy climb but worth it for us anyway. Thank you for taking us up there. With the GoPro and drone, it felt like a virtual climb with you.
Although your hike and the views from along the way (and from the summit) were awe inspiring, my favorite part of this video was seeing and learning about repelling. Thank you.
Thanks for watching! If you missed the FJ Cruiser tour I posted earlier in the week, check it out here: ua-cam.com/video/5qLBXhYIOk4/v-deo.html
Have you checked out the abandoned Green River rocket launch facility....or what is left of it.
ps. you know theres tiny little drones that can carry a naked'' gopro. so you don't have to climb stuff twice
Kristin did such a great job building her rig to meet her needs. It's the epitome of stealth as well, looks like any other car at WM.
'There is just nothing here ...and I love it' Yes , yes brother, I hear you.
You never disappoint, Tristan! The epic, bird's eye vistas we all get to see on your channel are absolutely incredible. I will never see 99% of them in person, so I am, again, truly grateful!
You didn't have to tell me "DON'T DO IT!".........LOL. I wouldn't have even considered it. However, congrats on doing it yourself! 👍 😎
Lol thanks Ric!
Same here! It was fun watching how he did it.
Its better he does it than me, lol.
You are smart this climb is seriously dangerous.
That drone shot with you on the summit! Breathtaking!
So beautiful. Thanks for sharing with the 99.99% of us who definitely couldn't make that hike ourselves. Felt like a birdseye view literally!!!
AMEN to that!👏🙏🙌
Im pretty sure your mother never watches this cause she would keel over seeing you up there...OMG, the drone footage was excellent.
she usually calls after she watches to make sure we are both okay 😂
Yeah, the exhilaraton of reaching the top is short lived because the return or down climb brings the next phase of concern, from the observer/ mom's perspective. And the sounds of those lose rocks he inadvertently kicks doesn't help either! Glad that everything went safely 🙏
@@cassie6281 Glad to hear someone else is along. Would be insane to go alone.
Best video yet!

Tristan, you weren't alone on that hike, you were with us! Thanks 👍
I do feel that way when I'm filming these! That's why I often say "we" or "us." I like to think of you guys being there with me.
Love your videos and your music choices! My son died 9 years ago in a climbing accident so my heart was in my throat a few times during your climb. Your drone footage is also incredible! You show us views we could never see otherwise! Thank you and continue to be safe.
I’m so sorry!! Being a boy mom is tough. They do dangerous things. God bless his soul and yours as well 🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️❤️
Sorry for your loss I am sure he would be happy you enjoy what he loved as unexplainable your pain is. Peace to you
Almost looks like Mars landscape. Got to love Utah. Thanks for your efforts.
Holy shiitake mushroom! I’ve been holding my breath for the past 20 minutes LOL. Good job and beautiful beautiful scenery! Thanks for taking us along.
Lol thanks for watching, Marilyn!
Drone shots at the top took my breath away!
Five Stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Go Pro shots make this look 👀 so SCARY!! 😱
So impressed. Never seen anyone repel before and always wondered how they retrieved their ropes.
Glad I could shed some light on it! Thanks for watching.
For someone that is from Utah and as a family in Torrey. I have to thank you for sharing. But you had me holding my breath
.

Hauling the rope up was much more of a pain than hauling the drone 😁
The old beat-up car looks like a Buick to me.
This climb was amazing as well as dangerous. I would never have done that, even in my twenties! You've got skills!
4:10 it looks like it's snarling at you.
Had some Nash features too!
Yep, butt’s drawn up pretty tight. Looks like fun for a sub 40 something. Just a wow moment for a 75 something.
Thank you for filming this. It lets me see something I never would see!
A-MA-ZING! (I watched it through my hands) 🖐👀🤚. Thank you for your responsible, professional, rock-climbing advice.
You activated the Mom in me this video, Tristan. Yikes. God bless Cassie.
In my case, it was the grandmother....
thank you
I kept thinking 'I'm glad I'm not his mom!
Ditto ... my husband and I were thinking 'Does Cassie know what he's doing?' I guess we've kinda 'adopted ' you two and get worried at times. But you've also inspired the explorer in me to go further than I ever have. Be safe and well.

The algorithm brought me here. Thanks for sharing this adventure; I just subbed.
Dude! That opening drone footage took my breath away!!
That was the goal! 😁

Well I can’t think of one part of your video that I like more than the others you seem completely comfortable by yourself no matter where you are.
Thanks Joe! I appreciate the kind words.
I’ve been watching your channel since the beginning. Never seen you so happy being in your elements. Keep up with adventurous episodes like this.
I'm glad that came through. I was having a great time 😁

It wasn't hard to do with the selfie stick, just kind of awkward 😂 Thanks for watching!
What an amazing video. You were definitely born to be doing this. Climbing Half Dome was the closest I ever came to any rock climbing. Enjoying your trips vicariously is great, since my hiking has been curtailed from a spinal cord injury.
Thanks Tristan! You scare these old bones watching you! Another great adventure with you.
Thanks for watching, Dean!
Blue skies, no wind...your king of that mountain...but. you scared me to the edge of my seat...well, take care of yourself and keep going
Thanks Betty!
I don't understand why you have less than 100,000 subs?! Almost there though! Thanks for another great adventure through gorgeous scenery!
Maybe people are too scared to watch him?
We'll get there soon enough 😁 Thanks for the kind words!
Unbelievable! Thank you for giving us the opportunity to see this through your eyes.

Just one in a number of outstanding videos.
Thanks Davied!
Ooh nice climb! Utah is so beautiful.
Lord it’s Foresty. Forest, “he lives in a van…. FF “. lol
I only have a minor fear of heights, and this was difficult and thrilling to watch. Great video - thank you!
Thanks for watching!
Lol good point! Thanks for watching 😁
The drone footage from the summit was spectacular! I'll bet it's a rare view you shared with us. Thanks so much!
Best.
I came in from planting Marigolds and here I am watching this, In my younger days, I may have done that. I will climb vicariously through you.
DUDE!! Thanks again T. Love your stuff.
Thanks for watching, Anita!
Really fine video. Like the way you made it clear that it's not a hike/climb for folks without serious experience. Loved both the climb and descent.
Thank you for sharing how beautiful it is! I appreciate how your videos share information and have a calming effect, no drama or strife...
I forgot to say how much I appreciate the beautiful and unique places you show us.
Another awesome adventure ‘with’ you - thanks for taking us along! Love the music in this one (and in your other videos as well). Safe travels and catch ya on your next hike 😎
Thanks Madelyn!
Great to see you are nearing the 100,000 subscriber goal! Your vlog is fabulous! Wonderful adventures! Thank you
There really is a niche out there for Renaissance men......;-)
Crikey! Those rocks look as stable as a giant deck of cards. Got vertigo just watching the drone footage, and was so happy to see you choose to rappel down. Kudos on a stellar climb. Tell your mom not to watch this one!
One of your best. It’s been on my list since camping there in 2018. Thanks for including the rappel/downclimb footage. Utah forever.
Amazing climb!! A place worthy of Mars or other planet.
Those drone images with you on the summit are simply breathtaking.
Thx for sharing!
Thanks Mr.
You did it! You climbed this place. Congratulations. Thank you for your videos. I so appreciate your efforts. Special thanks for sharing.
I love how you said, “We did it!” 😆. It was exciting!
Thanks Cindy!
I was holding my breath watching your climb n descent ..what a crazy hike/climb, as you said! 👏👏👏
Thanks 👍
We live in an amazing country! Thank you for sharing it through your eyes and experiences!
What an opening with the drone footage 👌🏻
Thanks, glad you liked it!
Excellent with the drone footage together with the climb. Thank you for showing us how you did it. Great view. Nice rock formations.
You are so brave to rappel on your own! Crazy climb but worth it for us anyway. Thank you for taking us up there. With the GoPro and drone, it felt like a virtual climb with you.
Thanks Deanna, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Although your hike and the views from along the way (and from the summit) were awe inspiring, my favorite part of this video was seeing and learning about repelling. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Well I certainly couldn't do that hike but I would LOVE to rappel it. 💖
If you're just rappelling, there are much better rappels out there! Thanks for watching.
