Thanks for mentioning the cryptobiotic soil and its fragility. That was the first thought I had when I saw that slope, and I'm glad you took a moment to inform your viewers about it.
Tristan i enjoy all your videos & all the knowledge you share with us. You've taken us places where I've thought it has to be the most majestic place in the world. This video is making me feel that too because natures landscape is so quirky, unique & funk-a-delic. Thank you thank you thank you!
I wish I could do what you do. I hope to have at least a couple adventures when I retire in 3 years. 64 now and looking forward to getting out there. You put ALOT of hard work into making this video. Bravo! Great photography! Stay safe. Watch out for Big Foot and aliens! God bless!
I love that you are a trail brazer. Also that you take care and are not careless about your movements. I have never viewed a hike in that area from ground level. It's a whole new world and I just loved it. Thank you so much.💙
Thank you for the PA on the Crypto Crust (as we call it). Such an important part of the ecosystem in the desert. We have done a lot of creative rock hopping and toe jumping so we "Don't bust the crust!" on our many hikes down there. New zoom lens is impressive. Looks like a new pack as well. Thank you for all your hard work on these videos. Always enjoyable!
Wow dude . .you took the hard route to the Wahweap Hoodoos :-) Although, the way that you went was very scenic. We did Wahweap years ago, and thank goodness we did the easier route, or, I would have never made it :-) You are much younger than us. But, I appreciate your video of the other area that we did not see. Grand Staircase Escalante is a wonderland! Thank you again for great video!
Thanks for the reminder about cryprobiotic soil Tristan. Just had to refresh my memory and will be watching for it from now on. Great adventure. Thank you
Thank you for highlighting even more things in Utah I haven't seen in person. There are sooo many different places to go and things to see and do. My wanderlust is ever increasing!
Hello Tristan. Really enjoy your videos. As an old man raised on ranches I thought I’d venture an educated guess on the block cabin you found. Especially since there are old corrals near, and there were multiple bunks in the cabin, I’d bet that this was built as a roundup site for whoever had the grazing permit for the range land when it was BLM. They’d gather the cattle every year to separate the young market stock from the breeding stock, then take the feeders to a dry lot ( a location at the home ranch) to fatten up for market. Just a guess, but I’d put a few bucks on it 😏. Again, thanks for sharing your travels. I can’t get out as much anymore. Been rode hard and put away wet too many times i guess😂. Happy trails!
Loved seeing the Hoodoos. My mom and I were hiking West of there earlier this year and had no idea how much there is to see and do in the area. Can't wait to go back and explore again. Thanks for sharing!
Holy cow !! I'm actually leaving tomorrow for a 10 day trip from my home in Oregon to Utah. Definitely have Grand Escalante on my list. It's my 5th trip there and I'm excited to try out some of your spots.. well the ones a 61 year old lady can do. I'm also rockhounding while I'm there. Thanks again for your awesome work 👍 Brigitte
What a great adventure this one was! Absolutely love it. Little worried about you scaling those cliffs and boulders. When you put your foot on the one rock that was wedged between another rock I was worried for your life. Stay safe out there and thanks for the vlog.
What an entertaining video. Those formayions are awesome. One would think at my age I would alteady know about hoodoos,. I hadn't until now. Thank you for reminding me that I am never too old to learn.
Thanks for informing people to not step on the biological soil crust while hiking off trail in the desert! So many people have no idea what they are damaging. The desert is more alive than they think. Great video as always!
I always tell my friends that southern Utah is my favorite place to explore & that Grand Staircase Escalante NM is #1 on my list of impressive nat'l monuments. I hope to get back to Utah later this year. On my last trip (2017), I wanted to drive down Cottonwood Canyon Rd, but alas, the rental I had was a FWD type & the mud in the low parts of the road forced me to turn around & head back to Rt.12. I especially wanted to drive thru the Coxcomb - maybe next time! Your explanation of the hoodoo formations, toadstools & living soil was spot on! You have a true fan in Pennsylvania. Hello to Cassie and Bowser.
Stunning pictures!! Your new camera is amazing!! What a beautiful area!! It's on my bucket list!! Thank you for all your hard work makes these videos for us to enjoy 😊
I love the hoodoos. God certainly had fun creating those works of art. Like me, each one is a work in progress. Beautiful. Thank you for sharing your adventures. I hope to hike to those hoodoos in October 2023.
You are my favorite youtuber! Thanks for taking the time to teach us about what you are seeing. Things most people would never know. I spend my nights watching your channel trying to get through them all! I'm on the east coast right now. The closest I've watched from your videos is St. Louis MO, which I didn't even know or expect what you showed to be there! I realize that every state has beauty to be found! Thanks for making this channel.
The rocks in this area are about 120-80 million years old. They where formed in the late Cretaceous period (when T-rex lived), when this area was a tropical forest right on the ocean that used to split North America in two. So these rocks where formed in a shallow ocean/ mangrove forest environment. It’s a very interesting place FULL of fossils! This was such a great video! I am so proud to be a Southern Utah native. P.S thank you so so much for mentioning the Cryptobiotic soil! It is so very important to know, and avoid stepping on it!
And this area is going on my list of places to visit in the near future! I 100% agree Grand Staircase is one of the most amazing places in the country.
The incredible view as you reached the bottom with all the wahweep hoodos, literally had my jaw drop open! Spectacular (doesn't quite do it justice)! Thank you Tristan!
This was very cool with all the Whodos in the White Sandstone Canyon! Thanks for explaining the caps on them! You DID see people before you got down in the canyon!❤️😀🇺🇸🚙
Thank you for bringing us along! We'll start sending your channel to our clients who just recently bought land from us. Surely they will gain lots of information and knowledge from your videos ☺
Another great video! Never let an arch go by without exploring!! I've never been to Utah but someday I will I can't believe how many different things are are there it's amazing! Thank you for sharing your adventures! Pretty cool spot! The cabin looks like it's a hunters camp same people probably been using the location for generations. Can't wait for next one Thank you!
If you're ever in the Santa Fe, NM area, there's another national monument with some pretty spactacular HooDoos on it. It's called Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument. It's about 20 miles due west of Santa Fe on the on the very south end of Carson National Forrest.
Been following you for a few years now, and on the road myself since last fall. 1st: Thanks again for sharing these inspiring places. I'm always adding spots to my "to visit" list while watching your videos. 2nd: Definitely agree with the "Slow down and relax...Don't need to do it all today" mentality. 3rd, Gaia GPS is AWESOME - it's helped me explore many places I never would have ventured. Thanks for turning me on to it! 4th: I got a hoodie like that on a Grand Canyon Dorey trip in 2020 (Do it, you won't regret it!), and have almost worn it out. It's perfect for keeping cool and not having to use lots of nasty sunscreen. I just ordered 3 more from your link, and hope you get something from Amazon! Keep up the awesome work. You are truly taking people to places they wouldn't get to without your guidance.
Thanks for sharing the locations of where you parked and camped. Been in the area a few times, but not to these places. although have visited Grosveneor Arch. Thanks for the great videos!
Marvelous!👍👍🎶 Glad you like the rock climbing a lot of us cannot do. Bands of color, textures and patterns are truly awesome. Some of the toadstools look like they're about ready to change. Be careful. Thank you.🎶🎵🤗
There is no better artist than mother nature. Hoodoo? You do! Thank you for sharing your adventure to the point we feel like we are on the adventure with you. Safe travels.
What a place. It makes you feel like you are in another world. Thanks for sharing. Your hip surgery must have been successful as you are back to hiking and climbing. I enjoy your adventures so much. I try to watch all of them.
Sunday evening tv 4-3, watching your adventure. Happy to see you took some relaxing time to yourself, well deserved. Your videos and travel logs are incredible. Places I've not be able to visit. I love Utah and Idaho City of Rocks Idaho. I just renewed our membership with your site. Thank you so much. My Spirit of Travel is with you.
This is your best ever. I wish I was young enough to go to these places. The hoodoos were fascinating. Please keep up the good work for us old guys and gals
This was amazing. And it brought back memories because I have been to these HooDoos and they are special. Even the cows which was a cattle drive and we had to wait for them to get out of the way. Thanks for bringing back good memories. I’m not sure what your next adventure will be but Round Valley Draw would be a good one. Thanks again.😀😀😀😀😀👍👍👍
Years ago, I followed that "main road" where you turned off and parked a bit further down to access the hoodoos. It'll eventually lead you down a really steep hill (which at this point is probably fully washed out because it was badly rutted and loose bentonite clay when I did it, but thankfully I had a rear locker in my truck). Following that down, it actually brings you right to the main wash to access the Wahweep hoodoos within a mile or two. Definitely much nicer than hiking the 8 miles up the main wash from Big Water. I like the way you did it though. Definitely lots of interesting canyons along the way. Maybe I'll head back out there this spring and wander some of the side canyons. I always love that area!
There is a neat hike that leaves around Big Water that traverses through a shallow creek that ends up at hoodoos like those. The ones you saw were pretty spectacular as well. So many cool areas in Escalante that I couldn't share to avoid getting too busy.
I enjoy your videos very much. I’ve always had a place in my heart for the desert. Thank you for your educational commentary. The only question I ask myself all the time is how you do those long distance “selfies”- I used to believe you just did a lot of retracing your steps, but the shots are getting more complicated and distant. Wow!
Great video. You do such an outstanding job on this type of adventure. I'm glad you're careful because you go on hikes that someone like me just isn't physically capable of doing. I've seen at least a hundred creepier buildings on Wonderhussy's Adventure channel. This one was deluxe in comparison.
Sauntering is always better than racing! You see a lot more sauntering.Wonderful video, thanks for the warning on that plant not to step on. The Hoodoos formations were fabulous. I’m glad you stood next to them for size comparison.
There's something about picking your own trail. Maybe it's succeeding when there's a possibility that the route isn't going to work. Loved the set shots. Every time you are far from the camera, I'm enjoying the shot of course but I'm also thinking about the work to retrieve the camera. Thanks for sharing!
Fascinating rock formations. Interesting color , or non-color, also. White ghost hoodoos, perfect name. That looks like a hunting camp. Not sure when hunting season is in that area.
Judging by the presense of the cattle and the correl, I would guess that the cinderblock stucture is a line camp for the cowboys to use when they are working the cattle, etc. Such cabins are scattered around the southwest where livestock are grazed or where they are rounded up for veterinary needs or loading for shipping.
My kinda landscape! Love hoodoos and toadstools! Would love to photograph there! That (red) rocky canyon where you blasted thru and where a lot of cars were parked looked very photogenic too.
Wow, what interesting geological formations in the first part of this video. Nice new camera, btw. It’s funny that you said those white rock hoodoos with the cap rocks are called toadstools, because my first thought was they look like mushrooms.
Thanks for sharing this with all of us in youtube land. I have only traveled through this area and I would love to go back and spend some time checking things out.
Thanks for mentioning the cryptobiotic soil and its fragility. That was the first thought I had when I saw that slope, and I'm glad you took a moment to inform your viewers about it.
Thanks Steven 👍

Yep, new pack is same as the old pack, just a different color. The old one is now a dedicated fishing pack.
@@SUVRVing yeah, I noticed the new pack too, was always meaning to ask on the old pack, what is under the flap on your right shoulder strap?
Wow dude . .you took the hard route to the Wahweap Hoodoos :-) Although, the way that you went was very scenic. "I'm here in the Yukon for this trip.." Oh WAIT, right.. the vehicle 😂 Nice trip 👍
Lol!
@@SUVRVing I mean, after Mexico, I think Canada is 100% coming soon! Its so close to northern Idaho too
Thanks for taking me on hikes I'll never actually walk! Beautiful!

Nice to see the Yukon back on the road. The new lens is great. Thanks for the tour Tristin! 👍😎👍
Thanks Daniel!
Loved the White Ghost hoodoos. The beauties of Mother Earth are endless & you find some of the most unusual, Tristan. Thanks for the journey. 🙋🏼♀️👍🏻

Hi Brigitte. There's so much to do there! You'll love it. Thanks for watching.
Great trip , Fantastic rock formations , the new lens is great and good to see the Yukon back up and runnin' !! STAY SAFE

Love the Ukrainian flag on left rear panel. Good one.
Thanks Suzanne. Weirdly, the back door/hatch is either plastic or fiberglass, and the magnet wouldn't stuck there. So it's on the side.

Not many people could actually open that door to the lone cabin. Bravo! You are the adventurer!

That looked like a fairly strenuous hike. I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of this trip.
It wasn't easy, but it also wasn't anything crazy. Thanks Keith!
I never knew what a hoodoo was until today. I think I heard the term mentioned in an old John Fogerty song back in the day. Love them
That one at 20:00 , I was like that doesn’t look that big then you walked right up to it and it’s bloody enormous
You are able to find the coolest places I have never heard of. Thumbs up.
Awesome natural formations. Thank you for sharing your finds.

Wow .., love the rocks ... we can learn so much from the rocks ...
Just want to say Thank You so much for the beautiful views and for the knowledge you share.

Thanks Larry!
What a place. It makes you feel like you are in another world. Thanks for sharing. Your hip surgery must have been successful as you are back to hiking and climbing. I enjoy your adventures so much. I try to watch all of them.
Thank you for sharing this. I am living vicariously through you. I don’t know if I would’ve hiked down those canyons myself.
I enjoy all of your videos, but this offering is right at the "top" (excuse the pun).
Thanks for taking me to places I can no longer go.
Happy trails!

Thanks Lynn! Round Valley Draw isn't next on the list, but I think you'll still like it 😁
oh i enjoyed it so much, thank you for taking me along !!! hoodoos so interesting !
Thanks Deb!
Love the toadstools/mushrooms at 4:00 (the other ones at 14:51 and 18:12 were cool too).
All your vids are great Tristan , taking my own notes here. 2023 is my time and learned so much from this channel .Thanks
That's great to hear! Thanks for watching.
Wow! There are no words. Thanks for sharing this incredible place

Thanks for watching, Rick!
Great video. Thank you so much for sharing your adventures and taking us along with you!
Sauntering is always better than racing! You see a lot more sauntering.Wonderful video, thanks for the warning on that plant not to step on. The Hoodoos formations were fabulous. I’m glad you stood next to them for size comparison.
I always try to stand next to them, otherwise yeah it's hard to really appreciate how big they are!
Another beautiful video! You have inspired me to take the suburu out when the RV just won't do. 😊. and I LOVE it!
As I watched I was wondering how long a hike it was and to my surprise you detailed that later on in the video. Thanks!
AMAZING! YOU ARE AN EXCELLENT INSTRUCTOR.

Thanks for sharing this with all of us in youtube land. I have only traveled through this area and I would love to go back and spend some time checking things out.
Mother Nature is so amazing; the mushrooms at the beginning peaked my interest in the area;😎😎😎😎👍
Thanks Tristan for another great video!
