The Darksiders series is not only unique in its concept, but for its potential to become legendary. Imagine if different studios worked on the different horsemens’ combat? If only they had a larger budget allocated towards MOCAP, coop implementation, fleshed out stories! I hope publishers don’t abandon this, because after all, Strife still needs his game .
I honestly believe we will not be seeing Strife get his own game. Darksiders 4 just sets the series up too perfectly to make a game with all 4 of the horsemen in it.
@@MayorHairBear A proper 4 player coop would still be amazing. The big question would be what style of game: A L4D style, a twin stick "Darksiders Genesis", or an RTS XCOM type. Let's just hope any publisher out there is ready to take the risk to produce one!
@@magnanimae5408 Genesis was a spinoff, we should be getting a main game with strife, then another game with all 4 especially because 3 was profitable.
@@nbonasoro Genesis definitely struck me as an easy way to excuse not giving Strife a full fledged game because it introduced his character and gave him enough dialogue for the team to essentially go “alright, you guys know who he is, now we can make the real game”
Every Darksider starter pack: 1. Hack n slash combat 2. Important Intro Boss with good storytelling 3. Well thought Puzzles 4. The Problem always involves the Council 5. Ya boi Vulgrim with amazing deals 6. You play as a Horseman. 7. You ride a horse sometime in the game. Darksiders 3 doesn't have #7.
Yeah Fury is a one of the 4 horseman, riders of the Apocalypse. Horses are cool. In fact they could have killed off the horse and Fury would find a new one or something. But yeah this game was disappointing, especially with the whole choice of things for Lord of Hollows and Abraxis. Because how would that translate into future games that take place after these events if any are made.
People were upset that the game was different. Then there were the people who simply cannot accept any strong female characters, no matter how written. Me? I was just happy for a 3rd. I enjoyed it, but I know why others did not
@@dwrdwlsn5 Jesse faden from control Sonya blade and she was a strong female character even in the 80s when mk was still new besides who can hate her after she goes all protective mom figure for the humans?
I think it's about art direction and generally how the game feels and looks. They've changed engine from their homebrew to UE4 and Joe Madureira also wasn't working on it. Hence it just doesn't *feel* the same.
I do like how the combat of each game emphasizes how differently each Horseman fights. War is a massive juggernaut with 11 health bars. He can block, parry, or just armor through enemy attacks. He smashes enemy defenses through the sheer force of his attacks. He cleaves through hordes of enemies with ease. Death is a whirling dervish of blades. While much squishier than War, he's by far the fastest of the bunch. He excels in keeping the pressure on with constant attacks and never letting up. He has various magical abilities and great mobility that let him deal with crowds easier. Fury is a precise duelist. Being slower than Death, she relies on more precise dodges rather than dashing half-way across the arena. She specializes at creating openings and counterattacking, picking apart her enemies' weaknesses. She struggles against larger groups, mostly relying on Wrath attacks to clean out the fodder so she can keep her focus on the more dangerous enemies. I do wonder how they'll characterize Strife's combat in Darksiders 4. Sure there's Genesis, but the overhead isometric camera skews it a bit, and he shares the gameplay seat with War.
Your spot on mate and it is refreshing and helps distinguish the Horsemen really well. I'm with you though, Strife is a whole heap of unique from the others and I don't know exactly how he'd play if they were to go 3d with him
Genesis is a good showcase for Strife. War plays almost the same as he did in the first game so Strifes attacks are what you’d expect in his own game. Him being mostly invested in his long range weapons(pistols) and his smaller blades being there mostly to keep smaller enemies off him so he can stay at long range. He also has swifter dodges much like Death’s.
@@moreauclement9702 its a really sad state of affair. It would be very ironic to end the franchise before the big finale but expect everything. I never was one to ride the hype so im still very cautious but a part of me always expects to see DARKSIDERS 4 trailer pop up at any moment.
I find each game to be fitting to their respective horseman. War is straightforward and no nonsense so he gets a straight to the point no sidequests game. Death is considered the strongest and in game you can get absurdly powerful with some gear combos. Fury was considered the weakest so she got a game that would whoop ass the most. It works out real nice.
If 8 out of 10 humans find a turd and don't want to keep it in their house there is always two that will keep it stinking up the house. Those two will have insane reasons to keep a smelly turd in their house. And the other 8 will look at them like they are insane, in the end of the day those two people will be happy and that's all that matters. Hopefully they will make better games to keep the majority of the fan base happy, there is way more money in doing so.
@zachboardman736 I'd say it means you are in the minority of fans liking the game. It was a failure for a reason, and you're the reason the industry is in the gutter right now. They are making games for a target audience that's happy to have a controller in their hand instead of a dumbell, set of tits, lawnmower, and hammer.
@@brentmichael4770Well, most of the steam reviews on the game are positive, so i doubt that the majority is disliking this game. It's just those long-term fans that don't like that it is a souls-like.
Well, the thing with Fury is, when you first see her, you understand right away that she's not like her brothers. But perhaps it's more accurate to say that her brothers weren't like HER. After all, War, Strife and Death were unique among the Nephilim, in that they had no interest in marauding around the known worlds, killing everything they saw just for the sake of killing. That's why they agreed to the New Pact, so they could put a stop to the slaughter. Fury, on the other hand, was EXACTLY like the other Nephilim. She only agreed to the New Pact because she had sense enough to see the writing on the wall...and she knew that if SHE didn't sign on, somebody else WOULD...and she decided she'd rather make a deal than be dead. But then, as Darksiders III draws to a close, you see Fury graduate from being a Nephilim to being a HORSEMAN, probably for the first time ever. Unfortunately, this metamorphosis is kind of one of the main plot holes of which you speak. I mean, don't get me wrong, I love where Fury ends up, too. And I understand how the whole point of the story is for her to see herself in the Seven Deadly Sins, as she takes each one of them on, and ultimately come to the realization that she just doesn't want to be that way anymore. But you don't actually see her EXPERIENCE anything in-game that calls for that level of introspection. She just changes and grows, primarily, because the game SAYS she does. Meanwhile, we're sitting there going, "Uh...I'm sorry? I was there with you the whole time. When did YOU allegedly learn these lessons?" At least, that's just MY thinking on it.
We definitely see her change. Lust exposed it more than any of them. ''Lust showed me what I could become. It's not who I want to be.'' Fury does still have a soft spot for her brothers. She only realizes it once she sees them bastardized and on their knees. That's where he introspection begins.
@@TheStraightestWhitest Well, I'll grant you that scene revealed a soft spot for her brothers that she never truly acknowledged before. But as far as actually seeing her WANTING to improve, that was kind of the beginning and ending of it. She only really overcomes the temptations of Sloth and Gluttony because the whole idea of her just sitting around, doing nothing and growing fat is just completely counter-intuitive to her essential nature as a Nephilim. Sure, the story has her acknowledging that not working on her failings was, in itself, its own type of laziness. But it wasn't out of her gaining any altruistic desire to become a better person, over the course of the game's events. It was just her feeling sorry for herself in the final chapter after she realized Envy had been setting her up the whole time and she never saw it coming. We don't see her experience anything in-game that would encourage her to work on her anger issues and quit being such a hothead by the time she goes into Round 2 with Wrath. The fight starts and somehow she just acquires this abundance of self-control. And it's never exactly revealed just what wisdom the Lord of Hollows was trying to impart to her, throughout the entire ordeal. Evidently, Fury at least appears to understand, but we, the players, aren't really let in on it. I'm just saying, you know? It would have made Fury's metamorphosis from Nephilim to Horseman feel a lot more organic if those points had been added.
@@TheStraightestWhitest She also learns that War was truly innocent and that the Council's will is not as absolute as the Balance is portrayed to be. The Council, after being tricked by Lucifer through Abaddon, were desperate to take control of a situation that presented itself through the conspiracy and one-by one they're matriculating courses of events in a desperate hope to maintain their place of power. But all parties are starting to learn, humanity was being taken out of the equation.
Idk i think darksiders(war) fans had a bit of an adjustment period for the change to D2(death) and it was a long wait for 3 but this soulslike change..... Eh love this game tho
Fun fact: Last time, "it requires all four" horsemen to defeat a weaker Seven. Shows how powerful Fury really becomes. According to the official summary, "proves" herself even as "the most powerful of the horsemen".
Death still claps her in seconds. But yeah, she becomes very powerful. Death is on another level though. He singlehandedly killed a force that was literally ending universes in Corruption. A concept so strong it was erasing other concepts, even Death. That's insane. And Death did that without his full powers or even his own weapon.
I understand why the player base is divided on Darksiders 3 but I really did enjoy it the second time around, I think many fans need to give it another go!
I've played out 4 times for various reasons. It doesn't deserve anything from the fans. A lot of people didn't like the look, story, character, or gameplay- either all combined or separately in a vacuum. I certainly didn't. They're entitled to that, it's generally a downgrade from the previous two games.
Goes without saying but another fantastic video! Darksiders 3 was a strange one for me, the difficulty I was not expecting and if I’m honest I’d rather they went back to something akin Darksiders 2. That being said, I ended up really enjoying DS3, I think your point about Fury’s character arc is spot on as well!
I played darksiders 3 last year when it came to games with gold and i loved the game. I never played the 1st 2 darksiders but i hear they are better so i gotta check them out.
Darksiders 3 maybe weak in gameplay department, but it makes it up in story and lore department. Fury is the only horseman who shows clear character development while playing the game . She began as furious, incapable of remorse , cocky but ended up being a great protagonist .
The game literally breaks lore. First we are told that Death sacrifices himself to restore humanity, and then they change their minds, make Death's sacrifice pointless and tell us that Fury and Ulthane saved humanity. And what is a "maker tree"? Why haven't we seen any in the Forge Lands? You know, where the makers literally come from? Oh and we learn from the Archon that the Charred Council forbade travel to Earth in order to protect humanity, even burned Earth's Tree of Life. And Darksiders 3 retcons that too and tells us that the Charred Council plotted to exterminate humanity, because reasons. Darksiders 3 is weak in everything, except the art direction.
@@Hynotama maybe u haven't paid attention, fury saves the last surviving humans meanwhile death save humanity as a whole and gave the species another chance and darksiders 3 takes place before darksider 2 so it doesn't break the consistency.
Another excellent review, and I'm glad you were able to appreciate the game on a second playthrough. Changing up the gameplay mechanics in a franchise is always a risky move, but I guess the devs felt like the Darksiders 2 style was outdated and they needed to go with what's currently more popular. Speaking of franchises that changed their style, it would be interesting to see you cover the Castlevania Metroidvania-era games. Those were actually the games that got back into gaming (I was a gamer as a kid, gave up video games entirely in high school, and then became a gamer again in my 20's after discovering the Metroidvania games.)
Thank you my friend, as always I appreciate your support! In regards to Castlevania, I've never actually played any of them aside from the Lords of Shadow games (which I was going to revisit but it was... not my favourite game to put it gently) I am very interested in playing games like Symphony of the Night though and I think that could very well be a "So I Finally Played..." in the near future.
You actually get 8 weapons if you do the dlc and a few of them for me personally are way better then the main game ones. I mostly had a mix of dlc and main game weapons when I played.
Didn't watch the video yet, but gotta say, I believe they should've stuck to the formula of the first game, which is a god of war clone with the diffirent flavour, and improved and built up from that, instead of changing the formula each game (a slasher, an action RPG with leveled items, and a souls-like). Maybe instead of dedicating each game to each horseman, they could establish some basis for all 4 characters and then tweak it for each of the characters to suit their style and put them as diffirent episodes in one game, so we could see some chemistry among them. I also just hate, that the cliffhanger of the first game was left unresolved for 3!!!! Games!
Fun Fact, the original gameplay concept for the first Darksiders was for you to be able to choose 1 of the 4 Horsemen and play cooperatively with your friends through the game. It was back in 2010 and I think it was Joe Mad(?) that said they just didn't have the tech to do it and make the game fun. So they instead went with 1 Horsemen per game to keep the game play engaging and fun. Personally, I want Strife to have his own game.
I really like this game. 100 percented it on Steam. I really don't understand why it got so much hate. Maybe because of the initial performance issues and that some fans can't deal with or don't like the souls like gameplay. Well performance issues are mostly fixed and the gameplay is really good if you judge it on its own terms. I don't think that the game deserves as much negativity as it got. In my opinion it lives up to the other two games. I actually like Darksiders 1 & 3 more than Darksiders 2, since DS 2's quest design was pretty stale and the frequency of climbing around and solving puzzles was to high for me or maybe i just perceived it in this way, since i didn't enjoy going into dungeon after dungeon which didn't feel substantially different or really unique, like it is the case in Darksiders 1.
Very enjoyable, underrated game. If I had to make 3 critiques: 1) The absence of the Horse (for virtually the whole game) greatly diminishes its "Darksiders feel" and curtails exploration. 2) Ditching the amazing loot system of the second game (or even a variation of it) felt like a massive let down. 3) They should have better implemented the Jump as a second defensive mechanic in combat - or had some other rock-paper-scissors mechanic to add variety and depth. Hopefully we get to see Darksiders IV at some point, maybe they will even do a Kickstarter for it.
I get what your saying my man, a lot of peoples expectation for Darksiders 3 was disappointing, at first I was frustrated because the game kept loading at first and it took forever to progress into the game, after a while, I gave it a second chance and I was a little pleased with the game but you are right though, it doesn’t stack up to Darksiders 2 and the fact that Michael Wincott voiced death. If any of you who don’t know who that is, he’s the main space pirate in Alien Resurrection with the deep voice
As a combat junkie, DS3 was my favorite of the 3 right away. I thought 1 and 2 were extremely different already so I never thought this didn't feel like Darksiders.
as a fellow combat junkie, i wanna know your thoughts on the first darksiders game, i constantly see it getting flamed on unfairly imo, how do you like its combat ? also, have u played "Kingdoms of Amalur : reckoning" , that game honestly has one of my fav melee combat ever in gaming in general. i did a whole longsword only run and it was amazing. the enemy variety is insane and the variety is meaningfully implemented, and the game is huuge. has tons of combo moves, perfect blocks, dodges but without i-frames or stamina, satisfying hit feedback and impact effects etc. i give my solid recommendations for that game dont let the first hour of the game fool you. the game is absolutely underrated. - a fellow combat wh^0re
@@btchiaintkidding7837 I played Amalur long ago but I remember breezing through that game, I guess the combat was good enough for me to beat it but I don't remember much tbh... As for Darksiders 1, it had solid combat, nothing special but it was enjoyable, great game feel at the very least.
I can understand when people say it is not a Darksiders game. Personally I see this very differently because every game so far massively changed some aspects of the previous one so it is hard to even pinpoint what a darksiders game is. The original purpose was a more mature Zelda with Hack ´n slash elements. Then Darksiders 2 rolled along and brought in a lot of rpg systems and bigger maps already skaling down the Zelda aspect somewhat. Lastly 3 brings in Metroidvania style gameplay and changes the rpg mechanics to be more soulslike to acomodate the metroidvania style. Now which of these would qualify as THE Darksiders experience? I would say none of them since all of them offer very different gameplay experiences. It is truly up to personal taste. My favourite is definitely 3. While Death is my favourite horsemen in pretty much every category his game itself has a lot of flaws I just can´t get past every time I try to play through the game again. Meanwhile Darksiders 3 pretty much gives me everything I like: A more character driven story instead of plot driven, Metroidvania style gameplay and a more deliberate and methodical combat system. Now slap Death into that gameplay system and it would be the perfect Darksiders game for me. That is not to say it does everything perfectly. Oh it absolutely does not. It just caters more to my tastes than the others and that is why it is my favourite of the trilogy.
It's one of those games that I absolutely hated on release, yet found to be really good upon returning in several years. The addition of classic combat mode, NG+, different armors and, above all, Keepers of the Void with its focus on puzzles made the game feel so, SO much better for me. GG to devs. Now if only those lazy hacks would finish patching Darksiders 2.
Catching up on this, was sad to hear you didn't enjoy Darksiders 3 the first time, it's definitely an acquired taste I think, even if you do like Souls likes. You already know previously I really enjoyed this game. BUT I am also pissed by it because I was aiming for 100% completion, and I played at a time some of the trophies were bugged. And so I played on the hardest difficulty and BEAT IT on it too... But the trophy never popped, not even retroactively, not even if I try to go back to the checkpoint. So I need to do the WHOLE GAME AGAIN to get it. Maybe I will, I don't know. I love the game, but I don't know if I love it enough to do hard mode again 😩
Oh the trophy and achievement bugs are why I gave up on hunting long ago. That sounds like an absolute pain and I don't blame you for not wanting to rush back into the game 😂But yeah I enjoyed this game a lot more than I remembered, good game!
Darksiders TWO was the BEST. I really liked the RPG elements like stats, skill points and the several special attacks you had. DS 3 is a step down, i mean DS 3 offers no skill tree, no special attacks all you do i ONE fury attack at a time instead of several like in DS 1 and 2 and ohya DS 3 has nog gear like DS 2 had.
I actually loved Darksiders 3. I think this is a perfect example of how a darksiders game turned soulslike is done right, when taken that new road. They took a risk and I think it paid off when comparing the other soulslike games out there. Another reason I enjoyed Darksiders 3 is it seemed to have much more emphasis on it's fun combat system and way less on the puzzles, unlike the first 2 Darksiders games, which also had fun combat as well aside from the many puzzles they're known for.
This is by far my favourite of the three. I get why people thought it was disappointing but for me it was a pleasant surprise as someone who could never fully get into the first two games. The difficulty and gameplay was a lot more engaging and the looping design of the world was great
I loved the world building they did to be honest, I enjoyed that aspect and the difficulty curve of a Soul-Lite gameplay style, was a nice addition. My only real complain was the lack of variety in abilities, it was only X-Y or hold either for a strong attack. Death and War both had combos akin to God of War, and while Fury's Skorn could do some nifty things - it was only tied to a strong or light attacks.
Hell Yeah! more Darksiders from the man who makes the best retrospectives. Darksiders 3 was different but as someone who fellin love with the Souls games in between Darksiders 2 & 3 I absolutely loved the combat chnage and the challenge. The game hands down has the best AI and most well designed world. I loved having no mini map and great landmarks. The puzzles and platforming is even more natural plus I love the metroidvania style. In case people say they just jumped on the souls cline train that's not true actually the lead game director was a huge souls fan and decided he would like that to be the direction they went in. Darksiders 3 probably alsobha some of the best boss design in the series honestly. Most bosses in DS2 were easy and DS1 was all gimmicks. The Darksiders series has always been a drastically different game with each entry. Obviously the game is different and how you feel about 85 as a Darksiders game is entirely your individual opinion but for mebit took the puzzles, combat, and exploration of every game and brought it to a new level for better or worse in some ways.
I was shocked that this game came out. Ultimately, I think the first one is still my favorite. But I immediately was in love with the return to earth and the Book of Revelations feel that I missed from the majority of the second game. The design of the sins was also top notch. I really liked this game. It only added to my love of the series.
Man, I hated this game first play through. On my 2nd and 3rd play through, I still think this is the worst Darksiders game out of the franchise so far lol. Thought Fury was a terrible protagonist and her character development was predictable af. I agree with you greatly that War and Death were not incarnations of their namesake. War was stoic and duty bound, getting the job done even though he knew he was being played for a fool. Death was sarcastic, talked way more, and fiercely loyal, when he said he would storm the white city to rescue War, you believe it. IMO, no thought was put into Fury at all, they chose the obvious/safest route and she was dull for it. Again, my opinion, but a better route would easily be a play on "Hell hath no Fury like a woman scorned" would have put her more inside the world the first 2 games built up. The retconning was pretty bad too, and they did my boy Ulthane dirty! They removed his rough attitude and made him hella passive and "supportive." Ulthane from Darksiders 1 wouldn't have put up with any of Fury's shit, and would've gotten right up in her face and dared her to make the first move. I will say, I did like seeing all 4 Horsemen together and that Vulgrim got his personality back. Overall I thought this story was pretty lackluster and just thrown together because a plot was needed. Outside the story, I agree that the overall gameplay feels like it's missing something and doesn't feel like a Darksiders game. While I get why the devs went with a Souls-Like gameplay, Soulsborne popularity was high af at the time, but I feel like gameplay similar to Devil May Cry would have been better for this one. Keep the attack combos, like from the first two games, but add the ability to chain them together, awesome looking, and add a combo rank system. I'm always shocked to hear people that like the first 2 games liked this game as well, but to each their own. I ranted a lot in this comment but thank you for the video! I love this franchise and this reignites my passion for the games :)
Can anyone tell me if Darksiders 3 has the Zelda like puzzles that Darksiders 1 and 2 had. I really want to play this but am worried it is just a straight up run and gun game with no problem solving elements.
@@MayorHairBear thanks mate, it’s on sale right now so I’ll pick it up. Sounds like it does have a little more substance then a game like bayonetta which from my understanding is pretty much just straight combat.
Combat was so fun, dark souls feelings and one whole world full of explores, zelda perks and new side weapons. This game is so underrated. Today they do stupid lazy games and after you see what Darksiders 3 did. We dont have games like these any more. Be humble ppl. If u dont see a product's real value, u will only get more assasins creed games. Cuz publisher will understand actually you dont understand a real value in the end.
For PC: for Darksiders 3 and Genesis, enable "-dx12" as a launch command to get MASSIVE performance boost. Also use TAAU and resolution scale set in ini (67% is fine). The games will look the same while running 2 to 4 times faster.
For some reason, the 3rd installment of a certain game franchise disappoints me such as Shadow of the Tomb Raider from the TR trilogy reboot, Watchdogs Legions, Dark Siders 3, DMC 3, Trine 3, Mafia 3, Syphon Filter 3,Dino Crisis 3, Fatal Frame 3, Uncharted 3 and Dark Souls 3 (might continue playing it before I play Elden Ring and Sekiro).
I don't think it's always the case but I'll give it to you there are a lot of examples where number 3 just doesn't stack up to the previous entries and I don't know why that is!
Darksiders 3 with classic combat is really fun and i keep comboing enemies to death. The new hollow alternatr weapons are even better. They need to increase the full gsme speed by just 15% and it would be really good.
I always appreciate when people get past the original hate hype on Darksiders 3 release and can find love and enjoyment in the game. As a fan of the franchise, I was sooo bummed out by all the negativity when the game released that I didn't even bother to pick it up. At least, not till about a year later. I got it on discount and booted it up with very low expectations. It took a little bit to get going, but man, I didn't realize that the game was tailor-made for me. That's what it felt like. It hit the spot so perfect. It really quickly became my favorite in the franchise, which I know is super unpopular. Darksiders 3, up until very recently, was my favorite non-FromSoft soulslike (just being beaten out by Lies of P, and maybe Lords of the Fallen reboot, and Black Myth: Wukong on the way)
Fury really took me out of the game early. The way she is towards War at the beginning made me so upset. All I could hear was Death saying...."My brother War....I would protect him above all". It seemed like she didn't give a damn about her brothers and just wanted to rule over them.
Thats her whole character in the first place. She doesn’t care unless she gets to lead them. But changes her mind when she realises that she is just a massive dick.
Her personal growth is the whole point of the game. The sins she defeats are also within herself, reflecting her inner journey. War and Death were already mostly developed and, instead of finding themselves, they explored outward, revealing mysteries while holding on to their purpose.
Just binge played all 3, all 3 have fun gameplay. Even though they are fairly different experiences, and I love that they are. No 2 characters feel the same. I started out hating fury as a character but I gotta say, one thing this game has on the other two is character development. Fell in love with her towards the end.
Darksiders 3 isn't a bad game. Those that say it was, never played it and/or were too stuck on the DS1 gameplay. In the age of the 'soulsbourne' games, DS3 should get more attention and recognition.
I just got done with playing the first three in a row and for me, three is the best. It's the only one I got super invested in and nabbed all the achievements. It was so much fun!
I'm enjoying this series of videos! I'm watching the segment about Fury's arrogance and anger now and I wanted to bring up not only my favorite line in the game, but one of my favorite things spoken by any horseman in the series. I loved it when Fury and Usiel agree to work together and she tells him, "If I discover you have in any way lied to me, you will wish it was one of my brothers tearing out your heart." WHAT. A. THREAT.
Yeah.. on release I could not wait to get my hands on this, I really, really like Darksiders, Darksiders 2 is on my top 5 games of all time and, so, when I booted this up for the first time, I played couple of hours, quit the game and was thinking "why? why did they do this like this? why?" It took a few years before I gave it a second chance and I'm super glad I did.. I ended up really liking this and have now beaten it multiple times and can now say that I'm glad they did the way they did 😄 Also, I'm pretty sure Lust is a dude..
I literally started playing it some days ago, and I started from the 1st on Apocalypse difficult, 2nd too and now this. Aaaand... This crap is literally Dark Souls Even Harder Than Normal difficult 😓
I don't think Darksider3 combat was good. Its first big problem was over-dependence on perfect dodges. The problem with it is that with each new enemy you have to learn its moveset and the only way to do it is to die repeatedly because each enemy hits like a truck and perfect dodge windows are very tight. Second, amount of damage you do from perfect dodge attack is still comparatively small. The enemy at 20:08 takes like a ~dozen of perfect dodges to kill (oh this area...). But that's not even the main issue. The main issue is - unlike for example Bayonetta that have similar dependence on perfect dodges - perfect dodge stops time and give you a chance to do a combo move potentially hitstunning even a big enemy. The more you play the game the better you are able to do this combos which means that your damage output per perfect dodges increases and amount of enemy attacks that you need to dodge decreases. In Darksiders 1-2 you could in fact do long and damaging combos even though it was quite convoluted at times. And there was no need to do perfect dodge/deflect (even though there was special bonus attack for that). In Darksiders 3 however its just one attack that does moderate amount of damage per perfect dodge and there is no way to hitstun or combo any moderately dangerous enemy. They just all have hyperarmour nor can be launched into the air. Third, the weapons that you acquire are just too similar. They look amazing, they are beautifully animated and their sounds are top tier, but they all have the same move sets and moves that do the nearly identical attacks (some do a bit more damage in some scenarios but overall they are almost just re-skins). At last but not least, in action games enemies never attack you from outside of your camera. They walk into your field of view first, and then start their attack animation. In Darksiders 3 this is not the case, anybody attack you from everywhere and its absolutely frustrating especially given the camera fov in this game. It works in Darksouls because everybody is very slow and because thematically you are the underdog who should be expected to be killed a lot. In action games character is overpowered demigod how plows through the enemies. Two skeleton archers spawning behind you and shooting you in the back is expected for DarkSouls like protagonist but not for legendary horseman of the Apocalypse.
@@juliushall8499 you will learn to read English, eventually. Regarding this game, I would much rather play Devil May Cry, Bayonetta, Darksiders 1-2, Sekiro or Dark Souls 1-3. All of these games have infinitelly better combat system. Not to mention that Darksider 3 was bad not just because of its combat.
@@Mangomesh I'd recommend giving them all a go, they do change it up from game to game though so if one doesn't click for you move onto the next but the original personally is well worth playing
No, this game was supposed to be slasher, not dark-souls clone. Even isometric DS4 is more DS than DS3. DS3 is a betrayal of its roots. Just imagine you buy Call of Duty and find it is RTS instead shooter! This is the same shit.
I get what you mean when you say 3 feels darksiders adjacent certainly the Zelda inspired level design present in the previous games were replaced by the more metroidvania style while combat changed a little by being more methodical and souls like, as you said in the video Darksiders 2 changes fairly drastically from 1 in some areas making it hard to define the darksiders experience. When I look at the whole series though and see how differently they all play to each other I feel like the darksiders identity is defined by change at this point. While some might blame that on it being developed by a different team by the 3rd entry or more cynically believe each entry is just lazily ripping off of the latest gaming trends, I see it as a series that has never been afraid to mix up the formula to provide a fun experience while proudly wearing their inspirations on their sleeves. I think it also adds to just how different the horsemen are and how they fight to see it reflected in the overall gameplay experience across the series.
Game holds a special place in my heart unfortunately the last present my brother got me before he past unexpectedly , shit i played for alot of hours i put it on the hardest mode too
I tried to play darksiders three for a little while and could never get into it tbh. Loved both other darksiders games tho! I even bought a book expanding the lore of the universe as well!
@@ShadowKamehameha32 it’s called Darksiders: The Abomination Vault. It takes places ages before the events of the game in the middle of the horseman’s primes and it primarily follows death as he gets into cool conflicts with the other characters
I haven't played much of the Darksiders games but I would like to give my input on whenever I see this type of thing happen. When a studio makes a great game and than takes it's sequel into a new direction. I appreciate it because if the likely hood of them being able to capture the same lightening twice is unlikely. In other words if they made Darksiders 3 more like 2 in all likely hood it would just be a weaker version of it rather than being something unique you can play instead when you're in a different mood. You still have a reason to go back to Darksiders 2 when you're not in the mood for 3.
I had a similar experience with DSIII. Admitedly, the previous installment really spoiled me. I expected another expanding world with puzzles and platforming and gigantic bosses I have to figure out the gimmick in their defeat... but the game grew on me after a replay and when I played again on Switch, I decided this game is now my second favourite of the franchise, Below DSII and above the first one. While I play in the "classic" mode, because I also played (and love) Bayonetta, I sorta connected well with Fury's fighting style, finding great satisfaction in a succesful dodge followed by an even more satisfying crushing counterattack. And while I found the concept of returning to post-apocalyptic earth tedious compared to the rich enviroments of its predecessor, once again they managed to make that simple enviroment truly spread out into many unique areas. Yes, you are in a single city, but places like the nether, badlands, the Crag, they all look so unique its hard to believe they belong to a single area. As a character, Fury is a delight, unlike her brothers, she showed the most distinct character growth and development and her fighting style feels like a mix between War and Death: Agile but tankier. A true "death by snu-snu" Rider xD (and design-wise she is perfect.) The true lacking part of DSIII in the end was the soundtrack. Jesper Kyd is really hard to top and this game favoured silence and ambient noise for atmosphere, which works, but it's not so unique as DSII's fantastic tunes. Also, I don't want to be THAT guy, but... Lust's pronoums are "they" ;) The character is canonicaly non-binary (noticeable in design and voice) and the game actualy uses "they/them" when refering to Lust, but since Gunfire are not woke idiots, they knew this is not something to draw attention to but simply act casual. The game does make a plot-relevant hint of it by saying how Lust takes many forms, not just lust for sex, which was brilliant. They could've easily gone for the femme-fatale, harem kind of Lust but no, they went for the many meanings the word "lust" have and made it a trickster of desires.
I never finished other Darksiders game, but this game caught me for the first moment, shame in the performance at launch. But now runs smooth as butter on PS5 and Series X.
Anyone noticed the final sin is a mix of furys brothers vs her overall I'd rate a 6.5 it's fun and cool but they have alot of long drawn-out area to get a little dialog and it has a bad enemy balance set up when they level with you but you have diminishing stat boost level 28 was most ideal level the combat was fun but I over leveled first time took alot of hits and I got 2 hit by enemy's also I was level 200. But stay at a low level and collect everything and you'll be okay it's a lot of fun to explore but that's a large part of the game that is also optional I'm sure a story run is extremely quick imma be doing it soon on reckoning but I got bfa on challenging
I feel like the game need combo or animation canceling something on the line of the dmc reboot where you start a combo with one weapon and finish with another also when I picked this game my hope that it would have been something similar to DS2 that look system was needed
I just played through this for the first time recently. I loved the first 2 games and was expecting something similar but was kind of disappointed when the game didn't feel like them. The combat just felt too different and the story didn't feel as strong as the others. Dont get me wrong, I enjoyed the game and thought it was a good game. I just expected more/something different from it based on having played the first 2. Plus i hated how her horse was killed off without us ever having gotten to ride it. I fully expected to either resurrect Rampage or someone get a new horse at some point (like needing it to out run the tornado...). Hopefully we get a Darksiders 4 that wraps up the whole story.
@@MayorHairBear it was weird. I'm not a huge fan of soulslikes but I think I liked the graphical style and her hair which kept me playing and of course the story was great like you said
I played all the Darksiders games and Darksiders 3 and I had a strong love/hate relationship. It is also the only game that I ever got all the achievements for lol, not just for the series, but in gaming period.
Yo i been playing the darksiders series lately. And I notice with each new darksiders, the devs get rid of cool features from the previous games in order to make the new game more in line with the new ideas. Like in d3 the executions animations has been removed and being able to collect armours pieces like in d2 as well. I think this series biggest weakness unlike other series like uncharted, bungie halos or epic's gears of war, instead of building on top of what worked in the previous game, the devs just op to throw away any features from previous game regardless of whether it was good or bad. This approach isn't necessarily wrong, but you never get that feelings that the darksiders games are getting bigger and badder with each game, because each entry is a separate game from the one another. It feels more like you are playing spin off titles of d1 instead of main entries titles after d1.
I'm working through getting my 100% achievement at the moment and after one playthrough and around 80 hours spent I think I can pinpoint what the game sorely lack - memorable set piece, or more specifically memorable boss fights. The bosses are cool and shiny and all but there's literally no mechanic to any of their fight, apart from Gluttony - who barely has some. All you have to do is press dodge and counter whatever acrobatic moves they pull - culminating in the final boss fight that really embodied the whole game's "dodge counter boss mechanic". There is no Darksiders 2's Guardian fight to be had here (I can still hear the theme), or even Destroyer fight from DS1. And then there's the lackluster puzzles. Pretty evident that they're missing I and II's lead designer Hadyn Dalton's touch. As for the different combat and general design, I'm not bothered about it. Darksiders 2 was wildly different from the first as well (and was also chided a bit for it). Every Darksiders game did things a bit differently.
I hate the gameplay against normal enemies, if two gang up on me, i have to be ultra instinct Goku or my life bar is down (and i have been upgrading my stats) it doesn't feel like I'm one of the nephilim that made a pact for great power with the council
I greatly enjoy DS3. I dislike the vast emptiness of of DS2. DS3 is tight packed and challegingly fun, even though it deviate from the formula and rough around the edge. I prefer the story progression of DS3 over DS2 as well. In DS2, corruption felt like it just jumped out of the blue. Death doesn't felt developed through out his journey as he rarely show his soft side.
As someone qho has been playing the series since Darksiders 1, i have to say 3 might be my favorite. It holds all the Darksiders pillars, it just has a different weight for each, but for me, i found it alot more enjoyable. 1 have the metroidvania element to it's world exploration but not to the same extent as 3. Where darksiders 2 was just filled with big empty fields that genuinely bored me when i had to drag ass across them. It had the most dungeons but the first 2 worlds felt like doing the same single dungeon over and over again. Especially in the kingdom of the dead. Darksiders 3 is shorter but it's snappy. The style is honestly on point for me and the combat, while it can kick my ass, doesn't keel locking me in a room to fight hoards of enemies over and over like the first 2 and it felt like a more even mix of exploring and puzzle solving at the same time. Where things flowed i to each other, rather than walking into a space an knowing 'ah, this is an arena room' or 'ah, this is a puzzle room.' Which is something 2 is more guilty of than 1. 1 and 3 have a nice even mix of puzzle, explore, fight. And 3 doesn't drag it's ass in it's intro or in any of the specific regions. So i think it's a Great game and a GREAT Darksiders game. Because to me, the games having those pillars but finding a new way to remix them in every single game is absolutely my favorite part of the series.
I`m a huge Darksiders fan, but played the 3d game a couple of years after the release, so I knew the game was okay but had some issues, and with playing it with minimal expectations I had a great time! The combat changes are not to my liking very much, however, my favourite playstyle in the games is dodge counter-attacking, and 3 allows you to magic build Fury into a dodge-attack MONSTER, which made me enjoy the game much more. Plus the different demonic/angelic aspects and weapon upgrades felt good in this game, probably for the first time in the series. I always hated the 'excel sheet' progression of weapons and armor in DS2, but it works nicely in 3. I am pretty sure by the end of the game different players will have different builds, which is the entire purpose of such system, so it`s great it works so well in this game. Also, finally the second-type weapons feel like they can belong to the horseman - War had hand-me-downs from other Riders to go with Chaoseater, Death had random garbage (cool garbage, but still) compared to his Harvester (which he custom-crafted for himself and is the most epic weapon in the series), we also got both of Stryfe`s pistols (which he apparently just left lying around everywhere). so Fury getting her weapon to shapeshift into different forms, same as Harvester, was a great choice in my opinion. I was very dissapointed the game killed off Rampage without a single riding level. 'This is no place for a horse' is a meme for a reason, and it was NOT a design suggestion to developers. Also the Gluttony moment almost made me sick, which is both a complement and a problem. All in all, I had a good time with the 3d game! The visual style of the series is more gritty and down-to-earth here (bad pun intended), but it works well, the boss designs are visually were distinct and fighting them is fun (aside form Lust and Pride) with final Envy being the highlight. On the note of Envy - I adore that her design is one of the first drafts for Death, and is a parody-combination of all the other Horsemen. Her boss fight is extremely fun, and I really wanted to repeat it again and again on higher difficulties. The world and locations are gorgeous, and the soundtrack for the game was okay. DS3 is a good game! Also, the demonic(?)-ray-platform creatures are Adorable. My one big criticism of the game is the technical state of console port. Most of the game runs smoothly and doesn`t pose any problem, However Fury`s power form obliterates the framerate more than any enemies on screen. Also the drop is lingering for some time after the animation ends, so you are vulnerable to damage in the meantime. This means that power form is a big no-no on console. Also the world has some...very weird and distinct loading points? Somewhere before the Pride fight there is a church with a broken floor, and you have to cross the catacombs (with lots of archers that oneshot you in the next room). I died a lot there, so hard to run back many, many times, and each time I dropped down the game would freeze and load up the catacombs below. That was a very bad spot. Also the final scene where the Council fires at Fury has like, 480 res textures. All of these are just inconviniences though, and do not break the playthrough or the game. p.s. the Abbraxis quest is kind of in the stretched out pre-finale part of the game, when you just to get the finale of the story already, and just rush ahead. I don`t think many players do this quest on their blind playthrough The Horsemen together and the Strife reveal had me HOWLING at the screen. Those scenes are firmly in the top tier most epic moments of Darksiders series.
I thought I was crazy because I always liked Darksiders 3 it was fun it felt more like a hack n slash game than a Zelda clone so I could see why fans might’ve been disappointed
Have you experienced the black throne in darksiders? Ill take the environment in Darksiders 3 over that anytime, as much as I love darksiders 1, the platforming really is a detriment of that game. Even the winding, mazelike dungeons of darksiders 2 are a lot and can easily cause you to get lost. I have to watch 100% playthroughs while playing darksiders 1 and 2 but 3 is so much more navigation friendly.
I played all three games recently (Did all the achievements in 1 and 2, now I just need to finish NG+ and The Crucible in 3 to 100% it as well) and I ADORE Darksiders 3. It's hands down the BEST game of the three. I love Fury's character and how much she changes with the story. I really like how condensed the world is, just like in Dark Souls 1, compared to the first and second game, which worlds were stretched out like in Dark Souls 2 (yuck) I loved the last bossfight (Darksiders 1 and 2 seemed kinda bland on this part) I love the foreshadowing that was shown throughout the game (although I only realized it after finishing the game once 😅) The combat was great - Darksiders 3 on Reckoning was an actual challenge, unlike Darksiders 1 and 2 on Apocalyptic. The leveling system is nice, better than in Darksiders 2 The one thing I did not like was how squishy I was throughout the game. It's because of the Reckoning difficulty level, but I was being one-shot by mere mobs most of the time, despite putting points into health lol. It was kinda annoying, but it made me fight most of the enemies and bosses hitless, so I guess it's okay. Overall, best game I played in 2023, can't wait for Darksiders 4, will probably preorder it
I didn't finish this one...I despise souls like games and hate the fact that every 3rd person action game needs to be one now. But Darksiders has a great story and I really hope some day it gets finished
Great video and analysis, I think you did a great job breaking down all the individual aspects of the game, but I have to disagree with the conclusion that it doesn't feel like a Darksiders game. Obviously, this is subjective so I'm not saying your conclusion is wrong or anything, but to me, it was very apparent from the start of Darksiders 1 that the series core, its formula, if you will, wasn't any specific genre or game design principle, but was the completely sincere and reverent way it emulated and paid homage OTHER games. In that way, the series was always kind of a "best of video games" compilation, wrapped up in a unifying "Darksiders" aesthetic, lore, and most importantly, respect and understanding to the industry defining games they're emulating. Darksiders 1 was a love letter to God of War, Zelda, Portal, Metroid, etc. Darksiders 2 was a love letter to Diablo and Prince of Persia (among others), and Darksiders 3 was a love letter to the Souls games. There are elements that carry through, but I think, fundamentally, what makes the Darksiders franchise special, is that it's essentially microcosm of gaming as a whole. Each game is so incredibly different than the one that came before, but is still an homage to a hugely popular genre of gaming in general. They don't try to explore "new" mechanics or genre twists so much as they explore how certain existing genres and mechanics present in popular games would be if blended together in specific, "Darksiders" ways. TL;DR: I think what makes a Darksiders game a Darksiders game is the fact that it's different they all play fundamentally different than any other Darksiders game that came before it, but still highlights and mashes together some of the best aspects of already existing games. I really hope Darksiders 4 keeps this trend up, and goes full on Third Person Shooter, or even First Person Shooter, so that it can give the Darksiders love and aesthetic to that whole genre.
I definitely understand where you're coming from mate, it definitely is subjective with no right or wrong answer. Personally, whilst I agree the series changed from game to game the difference between 1 and 2 and the difference between 2 and 3 are quite substantial
Normally, I don’t care for “X is a good game, just not a good Y game” , when many out there often just apply it to games that aren’t 100% identical with another instead of products that share little to nothing in common (more extreme cases). - however, while I was curious & uncertain about 3’s intial “mixed” reception - more recent videos breaking it down (MassiveG made a good one too) make me actually eager to try it once I finish 2. ~ (Funny enough, It’s also easy to forget that when it first came out: Darksiders 2 was initially viewed as a “wild departure”, similarly to 3’s more recent launch. Hindsight is 20-20 like the that sometimes.)
To leave a more serious comment, I actually loved Fury throughout. I found her nastiness kinda funny in a sort of "wow you're awful lol" way, and as she developed I enjoyed seeing that comedic bitchiness get traded out for a more heartfelt and traditionally enjoyable character. Keeping what was entertaining while still making her a better person. They handled her FANTASTICALLY. As great as the first two games and Genesis are writing wise, the Horsemen don't really develop much; they're fairly static. Well-written static characters mind you, that isn't a bad thing. What I'm saying is I enjoyed witnessing one of them seeing some real development. It makes the transition from bloodthirsty Nephilim warriors to stalwart defenders of the world feel more believable for all of them now that we've seen it happen in real time with Fury. Also her banter with her Watcher was a lot of fun.
controversial opinion... Darksiders 3 is my favorite of all the Darksiders games. At the time I was so bored and burned out with games and I had never played Demons or Dark Souls before. Darksiders and Devil May Cry were the only series that could still keep me engaged and even then I still would get bored part way through unless it was Darksiders 2 or Devil May Cry 3. Darksiders 3 though... oh man it was such a breath of fresh air! The combat, the map, the snarky dialogue... I needed it. Plus it being called a souls-like made me buy dark souls, demon souls, bloodborne and elden ring which are now the LOVES of my life. So for me the changes were positives hope they stick to the new formula for Strife.
You're definitely not alone in that opinion though it isn't exactly popular. Nothing wrong with that though and hey, if a game like DS3 can get you into the souls series and souls likes I'm stoked mate. I'm a a massive fan and this game really does feel like a great intro into that genre
I hated puzzles but D3 was the easiest for me regarding puzzles, and thats a good thing. I like the game. I wanted to love the first 2 games but the puzzles over combat ruined it for me.
They already gave strife his game with their dungeon shooter that they made. So we’re probably not gonna get another one.

I think it's about art direction and generally how the game feels and looks.
They've changed engine from their homebrew to UE4 and Joe Madureira also wasn't working on it. Hence it just doesn't *feel* the same.
I think you're right, their's nothing wrong with the art but it doesn't feel right
There are tons of Joe Mad copycats..
I'm with you though, Strife is a whole heap of unique from the others and I don't know exactly how he'd play if they were to go 3d with him
Death isn't squishy. He literally took War's Chaoseater through the chest and didn't even flinch.
@@Hynotama Yeah, though in this case his gameplay squishiness motivates the player to fall into his combat style of constant movement.
is DS4 in development now?
Genesis is a good showcase for Strife. War plays almost the same as he did in the first game so Strifes attacks are what you’d expect in his own game. Him being mostly invested in his long range weapons(pistols) and his smaller blades being there mostly to keep smaller enemies off him so he can stay at long range. He also has swifter dodges much like Death’s.
Enjoyed all three , still hoping for Strife to get his own game.
It'd be awesome to see but I just don't see it happening unfortunately.

Do people not consider Genesis as Strife's game?
It was a fun game, and the top down combat felt like it fit Strife better than the usual stuff
So... the Lord of Hollows is wearing the Ark of the Covenant on his back, right?
I believe so, yes
This took a second playthrough before I fell in love with it. I liked Fury's character arc. They have all been solid games. I want... I need more...
That's a great way of summing the series up and describing the changes from game to game and it makes sense with the change in Genesis as well!
Yeah, while War is the youngest - Fury came across as the most clueless where as Strife and Death were first to start learning about a conspiracy.
I feel this one gets hated on far too much, I really enjoyed getting 100% on this game
@zachboardman736 I'd say it means you are in the minority of fans liking the game. It was a failure for a reason, and you're the reason the industry is in the gutter right now. @@coredeadman5980 these people are insane I wouldn't give them much time and effort
When did YOU allegedly learn these lessons?"
At least, that's just MY thinking on it.
That's actually a very valid argument and not something I'd considered but makes a whole lot of sense!
I assume you're referring to Fury's motivation for becoming one of the Horsemen.
Yeah it's a series that keeps it's fans on their toes isn't it 😂
Fun fact: Last time, "it requires all four" horsemen to defeat a weaker Seven.
I really enjoyed Darksiders 3!
It deserves more love from fans.
Glad you enjoyed the video mate, thank you for your support! Yeah I'd definitely be keen on a return to DS2 but DS3 is still a great time to play
I played darksiders 3 last year when it came to games with gold and i loved the game. I never played the 1st 2 darksiders but i hear they are better so i gotta check them out.
I would recommend checking out the rest of the series for sure but Darksiders 3 is still a good time
Extremely high quality videos from u my man, we don't get much of these anymore. Keep up the fantastic work for real.
Thank you so much mate, I really appreciate that!
Darksiders 3 maybe weak in gameplay department, but it makes it up in story and lore department.
Fury is the only horseman who shows clear character development while playing the game . She began as furious, incapable of remorse , cocky but ended up being a great protagonist .
That is a good point, she definitely evolves the most character wise as opposed to War and Death. I really did love the story here
The game literally breaks lore.
@@adityaverma6754 sure it doesn't. Even if played devil's advocate with that one, there's still a lot of things that Darksiders 3 screws up.
@@Hynotama probably its because DS3 Had completely different devs and had a budget worth pennies compared to DS2 Which was AAA blockbuster.
Fully upgraded whipnis always my favorite
If I had to make 3 critiques:
1) The absence of the Horse (for virtually the whole game) greatly diminishes its "Darksiders feel" and curtails exploration.
I really liked this game. It was a fun ride, despite some misplaced loading "screens" on my base ps4
That was something I did forget to mention in this retrospective, even on PS5 the loading screens are still everywhere!
@@MayorHairBear pretty jarring, but otherwise, the performance was fine
As a combat junkie, DS3 was my favorite of the 3 right away. I thought 1 and 2 were extremely different already so I never thought this didn't feel like Darksiders.
as a fellow combat junkie, i wanna know your thoughts on the first darksiders game, i constantly see it getting flamed on unfairly imo, how do you like its combat ?
also, have u played
"Kingdoms of Amalur : reckoning" ,
that game honestly has one of my fav melee combat ever in gaming in general. i did a whole longsword only run and it was amazing. the enemy variety is insane and the variety is meaningfully implemented, and the game is huuge. has tons of combo moves, perfect blocks, dodges but without i-frames or stamina, satisfying hit feedback and impact effects etc. i give my solid recommendations for that game dont let the first hour of the game fool you. the game is absolutely underrated.
Darksiders 3 was good tho
Good script writing bro, great video all around
Thank you so much mate, glad you enjoyed it!
Can anyone tell me if Darksiders 3 has the Zelda like puzzles that Darksiders 1 and 2 had. I really want to play this but am worried it is just a straight up run and gun game with no problem solving elements.
There are puzzles but they're few and far between, very combat oriented
Absolutely agree great comment 💯
For PC: for Darksiders 3 and Genesis, enable "-dx12" as a launch command to get MASSIVE performance boost. Also use TAAU and resolution scale set in ini (67% is fine).
The games will look the same while running 2 to 4 times faster.
Played all three, and they are still fun playing them once in a while. Just shows how good they are crafted.
I completely agree, very well made series that's a tonne of fun to play today
Nice one my man banger as usual 😎
Thank you mate, glad you enjoyed it!
Darksiders 3, up until very recently, was my favorite non-FromSoft soulslike (just being beaten out by Lies of P, and maybe Lords of the Fallen reboot, and Black Myth: Wukong on the way)
Just found your channel and love your videos already man keep it up 👍👍
Welcome mate, enjoy the content!
I beat this game in Apocalyptic difficulty, it was harder than any Soul-Borne because the mechanics were straight up broken.
Fury really took me out of the game early. The way she is towards War at the beginning made me so upset. All I could hear was Death saying...."My brother War....I would protect him above all". It seemed like she didn't give a damn about her brothers and just wanted to rule over them.
I totally get where you're coming from mate, she just isn't very likeable in the beginning but does evolve really well if you can put up with it
I mean, she is named Fury after all
Thats her whole character in the first place.
It was so much fun!
i really wish to hear about starting 5th franchise of these legendary games
There needs to be more Darksiders!
I know you’re a game channel, but I’d be fascinated by your views on the Abomination Vault book

I ended up really liking this and have now beaten it multiple times and can now say that I'm glad they did the way they did 😄
Also, I'm pretty sure Lust is a dude..
Hey its the same with me. While I have uninstalled it and havent gone back, I might do it now.
I literally started playing it some days ago, and I started from the 1st on Apocalypse difficult, 2nd too and now this. Aaaand... This crap is literally Dark Souls Even Harder Than Normal difficult 😓
You are one brave soul 😂
Not gonna lie, you just sound bad. You’ll git gud eventually
@@juliushall8499 you will learn to read English, eventually.
Regarding this game, I would much rather play Devil May Cry, Bayonetta, Darksiders 1-2, Sekiro or Dark Souls 1-3.

If Strife got his own game, I could see it taking some inspiration from games like Ratchet and Clank which mix shooting and platforming really well.
Compared to today slop Darksiders 3 is a masterpiece
Looking forward to the 4th one after that teaser!
8:40 it sounds a lot like you want the payoff without the built-up and that would cheapen the payoff.
I had always heard about Darksiders and tried out 3 as my first and loved it
It's a good game, glad you enjoyed it mate!
Damn, that's quite an achievement mate (no pun intended) and definitely says something about DS3!
@@MayorHairBear It definitely had it’s moments. I need to play Genesis at some point.
No horse traversal was a major L for me
Yo i been playing the darksiders series lately.
Yup i feel the same. DS2 is just dungeon to dungeon with just an empty world connecting the dungeoons.
I don`t think many players do this quest on their blind playthrough
The Horsemen together and the Strife reveal had me HOWLING at the screen. Those scenes are firmly in the top tier most epic moments of Darksiders series.
Man my first playthrough of this game was on Apocalyptic difficulty. And it kicked my teeth in until I got the life steal augment for my weapons
I only cared for the first one. I'd love to see a modern soul reaver legacy of kain tho. 💪
I played all three games recently (Did all the achievements in 1 and 2, now I just need to finish NG+ and The Crucible in 3 to 100% it as well) and I ADORE Darksiders 3. It's hands down the BEST game of the three.
I love Fury's character and how much she changes with the story.
I really like how condensed the world is, just like in Dark Souls 1, compared to the first and second game, which worlds were stretched out like in Dark Souls 2 (yuck)
I loved the last bossfight (Darksiders 1 and 2 seemed kinda bland on this part)
I love the foreshadowing that was shown throughout the game (although I only realized it after finishing the game once 😅)
The combat was great - Darksiders 3 on Reckoning was an actual challenge, unlike Darksiders 1 and 2 on Apocalyptic.
The leveling system is nice, better than in Darksiders 2
The one thing I did not like was how squishy I was throughout the game.
Favorite scene of the game is after fury's horse dies and shes wounded by wrath and screams I'll tear you apart while breaking his sword
~
(Funny enough, It’s also easy to forget that when it first came out: Darksiders 2 was initially viewed as a “wild departure”, similarly to 3’s more recent launch.
I kinda wanted them to keep going with the gear system! You know? It was fun but for me it got boring real quick and just went back to 1 and 2
Darksiders are one of the most squizofrenic franchises ever, they dont know what to do with it
I wanted to get into this game so bad, once I figured out they went the dark souls route it turned me off. Loved 1 and 2😢
