  • We've been missing drone videos here. My apologies. Instead of a drone video I thought it might be interesting to share my story of what's been going on for the past month. We're going to talk "medical stuff," so if that's no interest to you that's ok, you can skip this one.
In 2 days I'll get my hernia surgery over with.

hay, happy new year Rich, It's always nice to see Jodie in front of the camera as well. You got a hernia for Christmas - most people complain about getting tube socks.
I like the way you can book appointments online, and the following text serves to keep you updated. shame you didn't get properly checked out the first time.
I had a similar experience here in the UK. not a hernia, what turned out to be a torn ligament near my shoulder blade. its job is to support the arm, so that the surrounding muscles don't have to be under constant load.
I went from GP to GP, all asking the same questions and doing the same examinations, just to say "Hum, I think I'm going to refer you to someone else!" it was a frustrating time indeed.
the last GP I saw worked at a private practice that specialised in joints. on the way to his office, I passed by people who were getting physiotherapy, so I started to think I was in the the right place - or so I thought!
no - he just asked the same question and done the same examinations all the other GPs did, the only difference here was that he now wanted to do the same scans as your doctors, and injecting the same blue stuff and all that.
I was in so much pain, for a breath while, I went along with it. until I thought - hold up, this feels a bit too extreme for an initial examination. surely I could see one of those physio guys who could help - maybe!
they insisted that I'd have to have the scans beforehand, so I said no thanks and left. I found my onw physiotherapist, who examinationed it without the scans, and guess what, he found the issue!
a feal funy moment (looking back!l, here when during the examination he's standing behind me saying things like "well your shoulders are still level, so it's not dislocated" and "you still have full range of movement, so it's not broken".
then he went "Hum, I think the problem is right here!" and I replied "YES.....!" 😂 I laugh about it now, but at the time, it was one of the sharpest pains I've ever experienced.
but, my equally longwinded comment is to say your not alone in the amount of time wasted, when I could have been on the road to recovery much sooner, if they'd just done a more thorough examination in the first place. frustrating it is indeed, but I got it resolved by using my right to a second opinion. Its our bodies, our pain. we are the ones who have to live with it. and I'm not going to subject myself to anything that might prolong, or exacerbate the situation.
get well soon Rich, I look forward to seeing more videos of you and your hat, and possibly Jodie as well, in the future

Rich, I know what you’re going through. I had a hernia repair about 24 years ago. I went back to work after 1 week (BIG mistake). Hang in there. Get better. Jim
