- Our orphan herd is bigger than ever before. As we look upon our growing family, we can’t help but think about all that the future holds. When an orphaned elephant is rescued, thus begins the journey of a lifetime. Rescuing orphaned elephants is not the work of a few years, but a long-term investment. The time they spend in our care, while formative, is but a brief chapter in a life that spans well over half a century.

Established in 1977, the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust (SWT) operates the world’s most successful orphan elephant rescue and rehabilitation program, rescuing and hand-rearing orphaned elephants and other animals that have lost their mothers, all too often as a result of human activity. But we do much more than this. Through our Aerial, Anti-Poaching and Mobile Veterinary Units, we safeguard the natural environment and provide immediate assistance to wild animals in need. We also secure irreplaceable wilderness areas so that animals will always have space to roam and work with local partners and communities to ensure people and wildlife can live alongside one another.

Elephants and all wildlife are a gift we as Humans Must cherish by adopting donating and fighting climate change, we all need to do so much more, I hope we can do it for all our sakes.
We don't seem to cherish them much as evidenced by continuing poaching and orphaned elephants 😢😢😢

God has said it hundreds of years ago He recorded in His inspired book the Bible, “ mankind, has ruined the earth, because they do not listen…” so you are following long tradition of men and women of not believing or listening. I am a contributor to SWT, and am so grateful to the staff & owners for the immense care and attention they give to not only the prescious, and my favorite - elephants - but all wildlife: Rino's, Giraffes, Lions, and many injured or abandoned wild animals. Thanks to Angela Sheldrick & her husband. Their dedication and care for these animals just warms my heart to see. They know the stories of all these beautiful creatures. It's just amazing.

Its a joy to watch the orphans and how they love their keepers. You watch over them, make sure they get enough milk, provide tender grass for the littlest ones & it shows how much you love each one even if you do have a favorite one. You know their personalities & how to integrate each one into the herds. Ya'll are a blessing & i know many people would agree that it's wonderful that ya'll work at Sheldrick.

I watch this every week now. It's inspiring ❤ I've also watched the history of all those who made it to adulthood with their own babies. It's filled with joy and heartbreak but we have to focus on the miracles and honor the memory of those who had to leave us ❤
