Anybody under 25 still like this music? Or am I the only one. I grew up with the Hymn book and Love it. I wish that my generation would latch onto this style of music. Instead of the heavily influenced by pop culture that draws a crowd. Repent and turn back to the old ways. Worship God in spirit and in truth. Alot of new songs are so vaguely based on truth it's not even funny. Some are twisted into lies. Many of the songs today spawn a type of worship that is fleshly based. If we aren't worshipping God in truth, who are we worshipping?
Very True Amen! I'm over 25 grew up on these old songs Thank God for them I'm not totally against new music I do wish we had more Holy Ghost filled people writing them
I'm 33 years old, and I totally agree. It doesn't feel or sound the same in the modern UPC services as it did when I was a child. When they got rid of the hymn books and put up the big screens, it changed forever.
We used to sing this around the piano in the living room when I was a child. I'm 70 years old now and it's still just as sweet as it was when I heard daddy's base and mama's tenor blend so perfectly together.
What you say here is the absolute truth and it is a tragedy. at a camp meeting in 1994 Billy Cole told me that accordions were bring pushed out of our churches. He was in tears when he told me this. I told him I would keep playing my accordion until they pry my COLD DEAD FINGERS off the keyboard. I'm 62 years old and still playing for Gods glory. And NO devil from hell is gonna stop me!!!
Today November 12, 2012 is 34 years today (1978 ) I began playing my accordion for the glory of God. I stashed it away foe 10 years before. I got baptized in the precious name of Jesus in January 1978. In November that year the Lord started dealing with me on this. I'm so glad I answered the call.ti His music ministry. Six years later he blessed me with a wonderful wife and we've been singing and playing the accordion for the glory of God 28 years strong!!!
I believe there are still young people that desire to have the old paths and old ways of worship. In the appalachian mountains on any given Friday or Saturday night you can go up in some of the hollows and be in the most amazing services still known to man. No sound system, no indoor bathrooms, but the Holy Ghost is so real. Church is seldom under 4 hours. I desire to see young people long to return to these old paths and true holiness in Jesus' name. Please pray for my generation.
I'll never forget my first exposure to the Apostolic movement. I live in Staunton, Virginia, and was born and raised Pentecostal, but I had been raised Trinitarian. I was first made aware of the Apostolic movement shortly before looking into this movement myself, and I'll tell ya, it was quite a shock to find out what the Apostolics believe. When I first heard about the Fullness of the Godhead, and how everything is centered around Jesus Christ, and that all of the Holy Bible is about Jesus, at first I was like "No way"! That is..... Until I learned how to "Put 2+2 together", and have it equal 4. For instance:When the Lord God spoke to Moses from the Burning Bush, and said:"My Name is I AM THAT I AM, throughout all perpetual generations...and then hooked it up with John 8:58, where Jesus said:"Before Abraham was, I AM", that mighty Revelation sent a shock through me, like you wouldn't believe, unless you'd been there! Then, we come to John 5:43, where Jesus Christ begins that verse with:"I am come in my Father's Name". That was my second shock! Then, I simply hooked that verse of Scripture up with John 14:26, that tells us that The Spirit of Truth would come (Jesus speaking here) in My Name.... Needless to say, that was my third shock! Then, Jesus spoke at one point, and said:"God is a Spirit, and they that worship him, must worship him in Spirit, and in Truth". That was, I believe, my fourth shock. (With all that going on, it's a true wonder that my spiritual circuit-board didn't get fried)! 😜🤪😜🤪!!! But here's the thing:All of the Godhead is revealed in, and through, Jesus Christ our Savior and Lord. Jesus Christ never called either his Father, or the Holy Spirit, persons. He referred to them as Spirit, and all of the Godhead IS in Jesus' Name, for that Name contains all of the Power and Authority, in Heaven, and in Earth. Is it any wonder, that The Angel Gabriel told The Virgin Mary:"And thou shalt call his name Jesus, for he shall save his people from their sins"?!? I'm glad I came to know the TRUTH of God's Word, and was Baptized in Jesus' Name. I wouldn't trade this for the World!
Tim S. and Pentecostalholiness know what they're talking about! Can't beat this kind of music. SO glad I know those days. Glory glory glory!!!!!!!!!!!!
Twas an old fashioned meeting in an old fashioned place where some old fashioned people had some old fashioned grace. As an old fashioned sinner I began ti pray AND THE LORD CAME AND SAVED ME IN THAT OLD FASHIONED WAY!!! We NEED TO GO BACK TO THIS WAY!!
I love these old songs! it reminds me when I was a new convert in the Church (UPC), I never felt peace and joy until I came into a united pentecostal church, God rocked my world the first time I stepped into this church, I would never be the same again! ACTS 2:38 READ IT
I'm so grateful that someone is trying to preserve the "ancient landmarks," such as our old-time gospel worship songs. I am 56, but I can remember how the pews would vibrate when the saints sang these songs. Even the children wanted to sing. And I adore the harmonizing. I was so sad when the old songs started being ignored. This really brings back wonderfull memories and makes my soul hungry for the true presence of God.
A pentecostal church without accordions is like a turkey dinner without cranberry sauce!!! WE NEED THIS WONDERFUL INSTRUMENT BACK IN OUR CHURCHES AGAIN BRETHREN!!! THIS IS A HERITAGE THE DEVIL HAS STOLEN FROM US IT'S HIGH TIME WE TAKE THIS BACK FROM THIS LITTLE IMP.LET'S BIND TOGETHER AND GET THE ACCORDION BACK IN IT'S RIGHTFUL PLACE; GOD'S HOUSE!!!
I love to hear Sis. Vesta Mangun sing. She is so anointed that I am lifted up every time I hear her sing. I am so thankful or POA putting her songs and messages on youtube so we can be blessed. Oh how we need her to minister to us today. What a wonderful and precious gift from God to the church. I am not UPC but I am so thankful for this precious minister.
I've never met her.. but heard her speak dozens of times by way of youtube. She is truly annointed.. and I adore her just as much as if she lived right next door to me.
I totaly agree! I'm 29 and it seems the more I mature the more I see how more poweful the old fashion way was. God never changes but we do. More miracles back in the days too.
Can't agree more on the comments. The old songs are sung under the anointing of the Holy Spirit. Today's songs are mainly sang to entertain people and the Holy Spirit is not allowed to take over. Let us not giving up but push through that God can be glorified Hallelujah. There must be a hunger and thirst for righteousness and obedience to God and His word. 👋
Evidence that the older generation still has value to contribute! It good to see that those older that have paved the way not getting pushed aside! They can still set an example for the other generations.
GOD BLESS THE GENERATIONS BEFORE US ~ EXAMPLES OF HOLINESS, FILLED WITH THE HOLY GHOST AND ALWAYS PRAISIN' HIM DISPITE IMPOSSIBLE SITUATIONS!!! MISS YOU MAMA SHEPPARD! LOVE ALL PENTECOSTAL EAGLES IN COLUMBUS. GA!
This is so refreshing. I hate the new music churches are now doing. I mean I DESPISE IT. It is pop culture saturated. The people doing it are into movies and all kinds of worldliness and think they are alright. But it's not working. This music hearkens back to a day when the church separated from the world. And that's what it's going to take to be saved.
Amen. I find it absolutely fascinating that when someone leaves the world and decides to follow Christ - that virtually EVERYthing in their life changes.. Their speech patterns.. their outlook on life... the way they give.. the way we PRAY for those who despitefully use us.. we give to get.. we turn the other cheek... it's all 'backwards' in the kingdom of God... except when it comes to the music. According to most current day churches... The ONLY thing that we don't have to change is the music. Apparently we can still be saved and still enjoy music rooted in the world, with all the mind-numbingly repetitive patterns and rock beat - I just don't get it. One foot in heaven and one foot in the world.. I mean, how does that work? (And for those who'd like to imagine this is coming from an emotion filled hatred of the music I'm talking about - Not true. I actually enjoy quite a bit of it. It just has no place in the worship of God. I've spent literally hundreds of hours of study over the past 30 years and am satisfied that scripture is clear on this. Still no one seems to be able to answer that one question: "Why is it that in order to follow Jesus we must give it all up and leave the world behind .. except for the music?")
I don't attend this church and I don't know much about them...if you search them on here you'll find out they have a wonderful choir and worship leaders....this must've been a special night singing old time songs...I still love it though...
This video made me smile seeing the elderly lady playing the accordian and singing about the Lord. When I was a child I went to a Pentecostal Church which my grandmother was a member of, just like this one. I hope the Lord bless me to live long and still be playing my Bass at church.
Okay it's been a while since I first favorite this video. And I see today it's the one I've watched more than all the others. Still love it. This never gets old. He makes all things new! Glory!
When I was young and visited my grandmother in Tioga,La. used to hear their radio program. You are right things are changing and not for the better. Love this REAL music and worship.
Glory, glory, glory to the Name above all Names: Jesus!! I keep playing this over, and over and over because it so lifts me up in my spirit. These songs may be about someday in heaven, but I am being lifted up into the heavenly places NOW just listening to this anointed music!! All glory to Jesus!
Sadly, much of the UPC has discarded this old-time Holiness-Pentecostal (Holy Ghost) anointed music for the modern (pop) style music that has absolutely NO Holy Ghost anointing! How very tragic that much of the UPC has embraced the Rick Warren "seeker-sensitive" model in their churches! Church, return to the Old Paths!!
+Tim S Amen a thousand times! I am sick and tired of the "lay my head in your chest and feel you breath hear your heart beating" garbage that is passed off as congregational worship. What in the world is wrong with the UPC? Have they gone mad?
Not all UPC churches have gone to the "garbage music" but unfortunately many have followed the Charismatic churches in their (worldly/unanointed) music style!
Lk.17:20-21, Jesus is to be in us not a building or a service or an organization, it is in us or4 we have lost the Spirit of truth Jn.4:23-24 that is to teach us His ways, not a preacher, 1 Jn.2:20 & 27~!~ As seen in Jer.31:31-34; Heb.8:8-13; 10:16-17 & Is.54:13, that is seen in 1 Cor.3:16-17 & 6:19-20 as well as 2 Cor.5:17-21 and 2 Cor.6:14-18 so that we too can have His mind in us, 1 Cor.2:1-16, or we have missed His narrow way still Mt.7:12-23~!~
I am so moved to see these Saints helping deliver the message of Our Savior's love for his people. They don't have to do this but they move through the Holy Spirit to sing and share God's love.. This is so wonderful to see
My daughter and her family attend PoA and my now 6 year old granddaughter loves when Pastor's Mom gets the accordion out and sings. On this night, 2 years ago, it was just before she turned 4 and she thought she was in heaven! My daughter was signing for the deaf ministry when something caught the corner of her eye and the baby was in the aisle doing eggrolls. Her mom got her and sat her down, keeping an eye on her. She got out in the aisle about to take off again. Our little holy roller!
September 1996 Center First United Pentecostal Church I begged brother Hunt to baptize me in the Name of Jesus!!! Because my Baptist minister refused the Gospel!!! Praise God for the TRUTH!!! He wrote my name.
Thanks for posting this great song. I used to be a song leader in a Pentecostal Church for 5 years. The church did a great job on it. Thanks to orytina for having it n his channel. That is where I found it. I really enjoyed this. Darlene
I like the comment about the charismatic church now is it different from the old Pentecostal churches now. Please bring the old time church back. The music now is very different. I can't find the old time church. thank you for the comment on the charismatic not my style.
We love you sister Vesta. When you get to Heaven King Jesus is going to give you a great big accordion to take in with you Until then KEEP PLAYING FOR THE GLORY OF GOD. I just love watching you play..We need accordions back in our churches like in the days of old. You really inspire me to keep on playing my accordion when I watch you on this video. God Bless You.
I love this kind of congregational singing. I wish that they had turned up that sweet Sister's mike. She couldn't be heard and you can tell that she is putting her all into singing.
your soul was so sad man if you grown up that group then you already experience GOD'S AWESOME PRESENCE, if you will continue that hatred your soul will suffer at the judgement GOD is REAL I didn't boast because I am also grown this Church but I EXALTED HIM even in a sour or sweet situation HE is STILL Here SAME Yesterday, Today and Forever...
The church is located at 2817 Rapides Ave in Alexandria LA. They have webcast on Sunday AM and PM then again on Wed PM Yes, church is pretty much the same...
@zestymike48 What an insightful comment! One reason it ain't like it used to be is that in the name of being nice, tolerant and all that, we have allowed our Pentecostal music to be hijacked by people immersed in worldly pop culture. Whoever says different is a liar. There- I said it ! And before I take it back, I'll add more to it. The new style of music that today's churches have embraced makes me want to puke! The adults need to take back over the music!
I'm a baptist, but was raised in old time pentecost. I still sing some of the old time songs in the old time way. I always get a good response from all of the age groups in our church.
Anybody under 25 still like this music? Or am I the only one. I grew up with the Hymn book and Love it. I wish that my generation would latch onto this style of music. Yes, He wrote my name. My precious Jesus!
We need to get back to this old time singing. Great music and great harmony . Just good time singing! God bless everyone!
I'm 33 years old, and I totally agree. It doesn't feel or sound the same in the modern UPC services as it did when I was a child. When they got rid of the hymn books and put up the big screens, it changed forever.
Here in 2023
What a great song
We used to sing this around the piano in the living room when I was a child. I'm 70 years old now and it's still just as sweet as it was when I heard daddy's base and mama's tenor blend so perfectly together.
My church still loves these songs. We sing them frequently.
Tell em to KEEP IT UP!!!
This kind of anointed singing puts the modern gospel world to almost nothing.
+dgreenja Amen!
+dgreenja So true.
Yes it does.
modern gospel is no gospel
dgreenja I would love to be in a good Holy Ghost service, I’m on my way to church ... praying for a in filling this morning ❤️🙏

I feel the Holy Ghost power! I thank God for you and your music! Keep on keeping on!
Watchman R.G.Spence. Inman S.C. Keep on keeping on!!!
The old hymns should be cherished and loved because they are the meat and potatoes of a Praise and Worship service.

Yes ma'am our sister!!! We never shall forget *the Day!* (Mine: September 15th 1996)
The same here. I so long to be a part of “the true church “ like this!❤
They are all so precious to me and my sister.❤🤗
I agree nothing can take the place of some good old time heartfelt singing and worship

I miss singing these old songs. Thank you for sharing 👏🏻👏🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
The presence of the Holy Spirit is strong with this one.

Please don't let this music style die. I need it to be alive and well when I find my way back. Until then, this revives me.

Thanks for posting this great song. I used to be a song leader in a Pentecostal Church for 5 years. The church did a great job on it. Thanks to orytina for having it n his channel. That is where I found it. I really enjoyed this.

Very refreshing!!! Thank You!!
Wonderful. Just how it should be.

The church is located at 2817 Rapides Ave in Alexandria LA. They have webcast on Sunday AM and PM then again on Wed PM
Yes, church is pretty much the same...
Nana K's healthy home even now?
I know the guy leading the song, Phil, I went to church with him in Oakdale, Phil Jones.
