HI, @sparkydave is an asbestos switchboard safe to keep. Do I need to call asbestos removal servcies or just call an electrician to remove it in the same manner you did? bit worried please reply
Hi Dave, Did you have to upgrade your main earthing connection as I would imagine your exsisting setup may not be up to current standard. Looking forward to the final part
A typical home in New Zealand has a maximum current draw of 63A before the main mcb trips. Assuming the voltage is 240v (it commonly fluctuates between 230-240v), you can take a maximum of 15kW from a typical nz home.
That’s one very rough meter box, l would agree with meechu633 that you did not prove that your meter was actually functioning, you don’t need mains to do this use one of the many pieces of gear you mentioned , for instance an ir tester will function perfectly well as a proving unit. Or add a proving unit to your gear line up, and until proven dead glove up, so easy to do. Thanks for doing your videos.
@@johnnycash4034 in my experience, Councils prefer to take the hazardous waste off your hands free of charge at depots, rather than improper disposal contaminating landfill.
Better to use a multimeter on a live source then on the “dead” switch board don’t rely on your volt stick. Who knows the batteries could have died 🤷🏽♂️
Wow come try find out how Australian deal with electrical safety on their system but this make me having heart attack. Is this legal in Australia now? No way in hell it’s legal in USA. Seriously people having these electrical wiring on their million dollars home?
Howdy there, this old asbestos switchboard was from the 1960s and the dwelling was rewired in the late 1980s. The cabling was in reasonably good condition compared to alot of houses in this era. Under Nz law, if wiring complied with a regulation at the date of install (historically), then it is regarded as compliant until modifications are made. Insurance companies more than double insurance premiums for houses with older wiring due to risk of fires, so it is an advantage to completely rewire a dwelling if it contains obsolete cabling that poses a risk of fire (ie Vulcanised rubber cabling, and cloth wrapped rubber cabling).
@@sparkydave thx so your power feed from a 3 phase transformer? I though I heard you mention the neutral so do they grounded that neutral at all? If you loop all those together like that don’t it over load the wires?
Have you got a video or an explanation of you connect a new subcircut for new power ports for example with an rcd etc.
Can you do a video on wiring up a 3ph switchboard for a house
Its a lot different over in NZ in Australia we pull a fuse out from under the main wire coming in from the street pole
Gday mate, very helpful videos cheers. Have you done a video on how to add a new powerpoint from an existing powerpoint.
I'm looking at getting my shed upgrade from old
Fuse box to a new one just wondered what rcd should I use

So this is a single phase 230 volt setup? How many amps is it?
Love your work appreciate your hard work and effort n thanks for sharing your experience well done

Hi, when will part 3 be released please?
Where are the next videos of the new switchboard going in?
What cable tracer do you use?
But what if I just want to add a new circuit onto the existing old switchboard that looks the same as the old one in this video?
If you have to drill the the board, don't. Asbestos is not something to mess with. Stay safe.
What is the maximum kw a house take?

always learning new stuff from you, too easy! ... chur
How do you dispose of your azzy board ?
As long as it is properly wrapped and sealed, your local city council rubbish dump (in New Zealand) should be able to accept the asbestos waste.
@@sparkydave is that even legal?

@@johnnycash4034 Yes! you just pay more to leave it at the dump.
Is it required you to wear LV gloves when doing test?

Failed to follow prove test prove procedure....Extremly dangreous .. Ranbir Singh registered Electrician from Nz
You cannot prove test prove on a delivened house, that's why electricians use multiple instruments to test.
