      I’m sure if the Titanic didn’t sink from upon hitting the iceberg, it would’ve sank upon being torpedoed by a German U-Boat just like the Britannic, Lusitania, and Carpathia were.

    • @Firemarioflower
      @Firemarioflower Рік тому +2

      @@sdmedia1323 No, it would be after Britannic. Because Lusitania sank in 18 minutes, so fast, and she listed to starboard side so badly (angle of 20 degrees at some point) that they only could launch 4 boats safely. So it wouldn't have mattered how many boats there were. Her crew was badly trained as well.... as was Titanic's. Actually the number of lifeboats on Titanic didn't matter that much either. They took ages to launch them whilst it could've been done in less than an hour, (so 1:25 A.M., since the first boat left at 12:25 A.M, yet they struggled to get the last 2 collapsibles ready in time and then the sea already came over the bridge and washed them off.

    One problem to this hypothesis, the titanic disaster was a major motivator to improve regulations in regards to shipboard safety. The Solas safety regulations came into play after the disaster. So thinking that the next ship would have had sufficient lifeboats would be a hard stretch, as the regulations which made it mandatory wouldn't have been in place...

    If Titanic had survived, she would've had only two years at sea during peacetime before she would probably have been repurposed as either a troop transport or a hospital ship like her sister ships were. So even if the Titanic had survived the iceberg there is still a strong possibility that she would've met a similar fate to either the Britannic, Carpathia or Lusitania. In another timeline Titanic possibly might've shared the fate of the ship that rescued her passengers in real life. Think on that for a second.

Because I think Titanic trying to go around the iceberg did more damage than if it just ran straight into the iceberg. Titanic was enjoying her 15 minutes of fame. Brittanic would have replaced her as largest ship in the world a few years later anyway. and then another ship would take that mantle, and then another, then another, and another again. The only reason Titanic is known to general public today is that she passed under the waves and into legend. It would be pretty unlikely (albeit certainly possible) that she even would have been in any movies either, let alone be the star of the show. She would be just another great, and forgotten ship that once ruled the seas during a now largely long forgotten age. BTW, it was the lives that were tragically lost that made Titanic so memorable. Her majestic charm was overwhelmed by the stunning carnage only mother nature can provide. Now her decadence is the side show to the reality of what happened, and yet, It all goes hand in hand with the fascination that beguiles us about Titanic to this day.

    People seem to forget that if the Titanic didn't sink it would have been used to carry troops to Europe during WWI. MatPat over at Film Theory recently did a video on the Titanic and there's a lot of inciteful information in that video on what could of happened if she never hit that iceburg.

    3. The helmsmen didn't turn the wheel the wrong way. They used Tiller commands. Hard to starboard meant turn the ship to port.
    4. There was no "gap left in the hull hundreds of feet long". The iceberg sheared off the rivet heads and it was a relatively small area.

HOwever, I think in terms of life-boat safety, it would have taken another sinking to drive that home and require a seat on a lifeboat for every person on the ship, and not base it based on tonnage (ship weight) alone.

    RMS Olympic is truly unsinkable. The first of the trio survived a 1911 collision with HMS Hawke of the royal navy, tried to save titanic and HMS Audacious that struck a mine, rammed and sank SM U-103, survived a collision with the fort st. george(formerly HMAT Wandilla) and Nantucket lightship 117. She was finally scrapped in 1935-37

    But the helmsman didnt steer incorrectly, they used tiller commands so to turn away from the iceberg the tiller was turned towards it to turn the ships rudder such a way that would steer the ship away from it

      Sadly, what they did not know then, but SHOULD HAVE, is that you NEVER reverse the engines when attempting an emergency turn. All that did was render the rudder useless as the water was rolling around it much like boiling water on a stove. As close as the Titanic was and as fast as she was going it might not have made that much difference but we'll never know.

    Violet Jessop survived the collisions of all three Olympic-class liners: Olympic with HMS Hawke in 1911, Titanic's sinking in 1912, and HMHS Britannic's mining and sinking in 1916.

    Then people wouldn’t be as cautious with ships, so even more accidents with ships would happen which would result in even more people dying
