Had my first session of season last weekend, Had to switch to worm to save blank with wild brown trout lol, Off again next week hoping for better results
Nice content mark. I personally use two j hooks or single J depending on the waters bait fish stamp and see little hook up rate changes from trebles. That said when using double js it's notable how often it's the end hook that connects. Don't even carry trebles now.
Good video as always. I slightly disagree with focusing on one or two venues it's being on the most productive venue for the condition for me is key. I had upper doubles from about 6 venues last year just by timing my venues right. This is especially important for me struggling to find venues that's not flooded or too pressured. I have also seen Mick brown targets a fair few venues in one day if it's not producing he targets another venue and it gets results. Although if the conditions are good throughout the season then concentrating on a few venues makes sense. I was the bloke on the chippy run. I had 13 or 14 not quite sure as I like to get a picture of every fish but I believe I am missing a photo. Biggest for me was only a low double. Tight lines for next time.👍
I'm the opposite. I like to master a venue that way I know exactly where to target on any given day considering the variables Moon phase, wind direction, water temperature, air temperature, overhead conditions not to mention patrol routes and feeding spells. But if we all did it the same life would be pretty boring. Hope your chips didn't get too cold when I kept you chatting
Hi Mark another very good video and some nice pike!. I am off the mark(sorry for the pun) had two on Friday 10lb-13oz and 8lb-4oz like you very happy and both on sardine. I love pike fishing and my pb= 20lb-3oz,keep the vids coming and tight lines👍
Hi Mark, great video. Your experience with circle hooks is the same as mine. I now only use them when dead bait paternostering or wobbling a small roach, hooked through the head as I find the presentation better than a treble setup. The key benefit for me with single hooks was less tangles in the landing net when landing jacks. As far as possible now I try to unhook jacks in the water.
I use single circle's mate, For me i think i get better presentation on a single circle and using smaller baits i seem to get more bite's could just be me but i do believe it, Cracking video as always, Sardines, smelt, pilchards, mackerel and bluey is all i use as waters we fish do not allow fresh water dead baits, Love the slo mo of the tail walking
Great video, nice and long (can you make some more longer ones please) cracking pike as well. marks the man on form! 50 years pike fishing, you can’t buy experience! Thank you for sharing your tips and advice Kind regards, Dave.
I've started fishing a small river with some decent pike, but they have very little interest in static baits on the bottom. Lots of follows as I wind in, or bite offs if roach fishing. Going to try a paternoster now the river's up to get more movement in the flow.
Great video as always 👍 Like you, not to fussed about lures as I like to see those big floats going under. I am certainly considering single hooks off the back off the video. I already use single trebles when paternostering. So seems a natural progression.
Voice of experience and maturity. Sardines on singles get my vote every time. Thanks for sticking you're head above the trenches.
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment! Tight lines 🎣👍
I feel a lot happier knowing why you fish singles now you’ve explained it hope you catch a big pike this season
Tight lines 🎣👍
13:10 perfect timing bud! Live take captured 🎉
Sometimes we get lucky 👍🎣
I'm all ears! In the market for a big pike this season, for a change...
Just finished the video, great show Mark! Much appreciated 😊

Nice info pal, I'll look into the J hooks
Good video as always.

Nice work! PB this winter I can feel it in my bones
Hope so Mark! I had a run today, dropped my bait, you can't beat it cheers!!
magic thanks for that. What brand of bite indicator would you recommend?
Wow that's a huge subject, float in or leger. Stillwater or rivers?
Cracking session Mark well done. I've learnt a lot from watching your channel. Your experience definitely shows 👍
Thank you 👍🎣
Nice watch very informative interested in try single hook what size and make have you settled on
Still open minded but my favourite and without doubt the most reliable so far Mustad demon circle 1/0
See fine wire versions available assuming not using those ?
Great video Mark keep them coming. Do you hook the bait through the head with circle hooks? What bite indicators do you use/recommend? Thanks
Yes through the head and out the bottom of the lip. I'm a float man 99% of the time but I always fish with both float and alarms
Have u ever tried circle hooks with the kebab rig
I have but with not much success. Maybe I haven't given it enough time

Them jacks to love to thrash around 🤣
A great watch, full of info, years of experience showing and some cracking fish 👍
Cheers mate really appreciate the feedback. Tight lines

@welshhunter7284 ah, thank you for your help. Are you using circle hooks on a suspended bait or bottom, maybe both?
@@ryandoherty6174 On the bottom and on a float wind allowing
Yeah when I go up to Scotland I have to leave the Roach behind
Great video, nice and long (can you make some more longer ones please) cracking pike as well. marks the man on form!

Kind regards, Dave.
Thanks for the kind words, It's really appreciated

Could also try wobbling a dead bait, very slow retrieve
Great video as always 👍 Like you, not to fussed about lures as I like to see those big floats going under. I am certainly considering single hooks off the back off the video. I already use single trebles when paternostering. So seems a natural progression.
Be prepared to miss a lot of runs, they take a hell of a lot of getting used to! Try one rod to start with
All still water fishing
If money is no problem back biters and drop offs tacklebox.co.uk/bite-alarms-and-accessories/e-t-products-ultimate-backbiter-mk2/
