A friend of mine pointed out that Sinatra was one of the few people who made middle age seem cool!
Frank was the definition of Cool & Put Las Vegas on The Map more than any other entertainer during Las Vegas Nevada's Heyday!
I think the same about Woody Allen
Great observation, he really did make middle age seem so cool. Not too far removed from the innocence and energy , with a lot more wisdom.
I’d add to this what Bill Maher said…that when he was a kid he always admired Johnny Carson and James Bond because they were middle-aged and cool
His voice was better and he made most of his best stuff then.
Frank had a lot of respect for Ella. In fact, she was one of the very few singers he held in high esteem. In fact, he let her use his dressing room for this show, while he took a much smaller one. Both class acts.
She needed a big dressing room as she was a big girl.
@@thumperman8490 is that really necessary?
Ella was a HUGE talent as well
I was at the concert COUNT BASIE,ELLA, SINATRA IN 1974 at URIS THEATER N.Y.C. one of the best SINATRA CONSERTS EVER!!!when SINATRA came on stage the whole theater shouk the best his style his voice was the best, it made history,i remember every moment, n I would love to tell anyone about that consert.🤩🤩🤩🇺🇸🇮🇹🤩🤩
Anyone can get in touch with me about SINATRA I will be happy to talk about SINATRA 😊😊🇮🇹🇺🇸😉
He’s in a league of his own. Perfection.
Sinatra: no one ever better, then, now or forever.
Ella Sinatra & Jobim one of the best music specials ever
OLD FRANK ! . . . THE VOICE OF AMERICA !!!
He was italian :D
+DasRäschtschraibKontrolör yeah Italian American. There is no ethnicity specific to america...
Such charisma, nobody like Sinatra
I always found his live performances better then records
Not all of them but a select few.
His That’s Life from his retire concert
Just One Of Those Things
And a bunch more, I think are better than the original recording.
But some of his original recordings are better then his live performances like
Fly Me To The Moon
My Way
And others.
When you're in a studio you're only making a record to earn money ... but when you are in front of an audience you're entertaining real people ... and they tell you if you're doing it right or not!
Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald, the quintessential singers, on the same stage. Oh, what I'd give to see that in person, well a finger may be an overstatement, but certainly worth a toe.
Sinatra is in great voice and this segment with Ella before a black tie audience arguably represents the pinnacle of their performing careers. Sinatra cultivated the best composers, like Cole Porter, Berlin, Johnny Mercer and Kahn and Van Heusen and made sure to work with the finest arrangers such as Riddle, May, Jenkins, Hefti and Costa.
Couldn’t agree more!
Total class, elegance, and brilliance from two great masters of the American Songbook!
FRANK SINATRA! The greatest singer of the twentieth century to date! Frank sang ballads beautifully and up tempo songs with style and brilliance. No other singer compares!
Frank was truly a musical joy giver to millions
world wide. I watched this two minute video, with Frank in his prime and am still amazed!
I love this song and this is, by far, his greatest version of this song. Also love when he's singing with Ella. They always seemed to bring out the best in each other musically.
Best version by far
Not too many people in the world who actually are as good as they think they are, but he was.
Frank was always in great voice for those 60s TV shows.
How can you get better than this.
Happy birthday, Frank!
We already miss you so much!!
He's cute, he's the very best.❤️
He does sing it very pretty
"Well I'm gonna try...." You never had to try Frank. You were just too good.
Thank you Magicians!
Mrgokujr2012 yessss!!
It's one of his greatest songs of all time a great Nelson riddle Arrangement that will never get old
Sinatra ... the ultimate class act. End of story.
The two of them together were magic and TVs finest hour musically.
This special with Ella and Jobim represents the absolute pinnacle of Sinatra's television performances; he and Ella were in superb voice, and the selection of songs was excellent. When Sinatra was on his game, as here, there is no one, including Bennett, Torme, Damone and Lawrence, who can come close.
You forget Bobby Darin the best of the bests.......
A Man And His Music Pt.2 was pretty damn good too...check Moonlight in Vermont (if you can find it) you won't...
Awesome...1967, at his peak of star power.
no greater peak in all of show business
Greatest of them all.
he has that look in his eyes....."watch me "
Indeed. He engages the audience, stares right at them, communicating, telling a story, spreading joy,
Definitely, it must be a wonderful thing to have that level of self-confidence!!!
Extremely powerful personality to persuade people that you're at the centre of a world haha! And he did do that, Sinatra created his own world.
Jazzerson As Dean Martin said often. “ it’s your world Frank, I just live in it “
The master in action,it just comes easy.
We miss you 😘 Frankie !!
RIP sleep warm
And yes he sings it more than pretty! Awesome Sinatra, talent, charisma and one cool cat!
the greatest interpreter of music of all time, not even close, every song is a concert, great phrasing, great control, long lines, he sings a story..liten to the end he tells ella you didnt know i couldnt dance............
One of my favorite videos on youtube!! :-) :) Sinatra and Fitzgerald on stage together. LOVE them!
Amazing talent. I've Seen that clip a hundred times, and it never gets old - Thanks for posting.
Oh Mr Sinatra, you sing it so pretty...
Wonderful song! I only wish it were longer😄🎶 Sinatra was such a great performer and singer. I wish I could've seen him live but yeah... I'm too young LOL
Fantastic, talent we cannot find nowadays ):
I respect the tribute that Buble, Tyrel, and years ago when he started out, Harry Connick, Jr. have portrayed with their mimicked delivery of the Chairman but in reality would they even be known entity's if not for his showing the way.
I agree they're still alive but really what has that to do with listening to the genuine article. Francis, Mr. Chairman, there will never be another you. I listen every day on the Sinatra channel on Sirius radio and am thankful to have that Salute Mr. Charman!
im 17 and have piercings everywere and sinatra blew my mind just now he is now my favorite artist
This 1967 show with Ella and Antonio Carlos Jobim was Frank at his absolute best. He hit every song out of the park!
Simply The Best !!! Love our Frank Sinatra !!!
Frank is just the best!!!! Best 1 minute 20 second song too!
Frank really raised his game around Ella. This is great.
He said he felt nervous standing next to her. She brought the best out of him here.
one of his greatest performances, and rendition of this song. The amount of confidence this man has here is inspiring. His technique seemed forgiving during this performance, made it look easy for himself on those high E notes, but did get a bit shouty on those F notes. And honestly, who freaking cares. His stage presence is something else.
This guy is so freaking cool, wish this song could go one longer but then it wouldn't be as sweet.
I love how inventive and flawless the tune to the song gets. It has a flow of notes that give it an edge. And better yet, Sinatra can hit those notes as perfectly as any instrument. A man of talent!
he owned this!
The more and more I watch this, such a rare sight to see Sinatra really really sing the lyrics. Not saying he doesn’t but I feel like standing next to SUCH a great singer he really needed to sing out hahah
0:06 “Wonderful song by Cole porter”
“You sing it so pretty”
“Well I’m going to try”
Just something about that and how elegantly they speak, two of the greatest sharing the stage oh how I wish I able to experience it
Sinatra a une presence exceptionnelle sur la scene. Elle est captivante et on ne cesse pas de se detacher de lui.
Je suis d'accord avec vous.
He owns yet another song!
Effortless, pure genius, God given talent!!!!
he sings this so well
Wow just Wow. At his best, and this is close. No one else comes close to this great man. The greatest popular singer of all time.
This is my favorite rendition!
I luhve (love) Frank!!!!!
Good God, the class! The elegance... where did it go? NO ONE could do this today!
A masterful rendition from the chairman!
Thanks for posting.
I was seriously born in the wrong era. This is so unbelievably good.
I'm in love the second I hear his voice!
Simply sensational from the greatest singer that has ever walked the Earth. As someone also said, when Frank was at his best, no one came close.
Just the ultimate performer and master entertainer! Thanks for this post -- it brings back some great memories of when I saw him sing this in Vegas and Tahoe, never to be forgotten, RIP Frank. And the great, incomparable lady Ella, we miss you too.
The "Voice" wouldn't have been the voice without the great composers, i.e., Cole Porter, Berlin, Rodgers, Jule Styne, Harry Warren, Jimmy VanHeusen and orchestra arrangements of Axel Stordahl, Nelson Riddle, Don Costa and the like to back Sinatra.
i cant stop watching this masterpiece performance help!!
Prime Sinatra!🙏🏽❤️
No one could do this like does it
SOLO ANCORA UNA VOLTA. Semplicemente spettacolare. Frankie ovunque ci si trovi, grazie per invitare la vostra voce d'oro.
Boy did he put a lot into that. Did he want to make sure Ella didn't beat him?
Único!!!!
Incomparable!!!!
Voz celestial!!!!
Simply the best.
When songs made sense. Great.
I have been listening to Sinatra since i was born, my mother was in love with him. It is now up to me!!!!! I could listen to him, all day and night long. And i do!
Every performance is spectacular.
What a voice!
Oyendo a Sinatra en esta canción de Cole Porter, uno comprende que se haya dicho que es el número uno.OK
I love this song, reminds me of the funny scene of Carroll O'Connor, along with Robert Loggia dancing in the movie Return to me, the last movie Carroll was in......a great movie
Look at Franks eyes the last few seconds. He is really in the song
I love this! I've got the DVD and watched it sooo many times!
Sinatra rocks I used to blast around NYC and blast frankyin my red Corvette ah the good old days
AWESOME QUALITY THANK YOU!!!
short but really sweet..
Chills & goosebumps throughout the song! Sinatra at his very best! What look of complete confidence, just terrific.
Wonderful spot...
It's a shame no producer ever got these two in the studio together.
got to love Frank
Es lindo!!🌹⭐❤️🇺🇸
🧡
I like franks music very intresting what he song about is life and his life story
really wonderful. thanks.
The clock was an unremarkable thing on its surface. To keep his mind off the troubles of war and family, Martin set out to repair its inner workings, and in place of a mechanical heart, he found a new world.
Written by Cole Porter
Arranged by Neil Hefti
Conducted by Nelson Riddle.
Best of the best !!!!!
THIS IS TIME SAKE "LOVE"
It's Frank's world we just live in it. First time hearing live version of that song. Wow!
Beautiful song. Describes my feelings toward a guy.
Mesmerized.
