The last time I went to West Bromwich I didn’t know whether I was in Benghazi or the Warsaw ghetto, it used to be such a great place. I used to love going there in my teens shopping and meeting up with friends and having a drink in the great western, the Sandwell, the marksman and I’m sure the green dragon on the high street happy times 😊
On the media adverts are asking for donations to all these certain countries, donations now should be donated to the uk as this now is a 3rd world country homeless citizens on the streets ☝
Love watching your videos of West Bromwich and surrounding areas, I agree there are a lot of negatives, it would be even better if you could be a little more positive on the good aspects of where we live. You highlighted the shops with no customers, but skimmed past the school uniform shop. They had customers leaving as you walked past. That shop is always quite busy. We have a number of great pubs and restaurants, libraries and some great museums. Looking forward to seeing your next videos. 👍
Walked past them Friday , one guy was sat smoking a crack pipe , do we really need to see this , kids are walking past , what has happened To this country it’s shocking what is happening
Empty shops should be utilised as charity shops, ppl have loads of stuff they don't need , and ppl have little money to purchase items at retail prices
Too many charity shops also brings an area down, highlighting that the area is poverty stricken. Not everyone uses these type of shops. I do agree though that the empty shops should be utilised but utilised thoughtfully.

If people are truly homeless, the council and homeless agencys should point them in the right direction. If they get benefits, they should not be pestering people for money .
The shelter charity shop , should do more , but I guess they have to pay there CEO and managers there wages first before any of it actually helps the homeless,
Great vlog Phil, you really are showing the extremes of West Brom. In fact what you’re showing is HOW WB has changed over the decades, good and bad. I agree with Michael that this Government needs to look in its own back yard to the poverty, homelessness and lack of work ethic this country has rather than turning a blind eye to it and begging for our donations to other countries when Britain is in a dire situation with the above, we truly are on the verge of 3rd world status, NO JOKE!
Just out of curiosity, all the homeless people were removed off the streets during ´Covid’ they were housed somewhere so my question is why can’t they be ´housed’ again?
Did you notice the mosaic on the floor by those tents (nobody does) it's dedicated to David Christie Murray who wrote a booklet called A Capful of Nails, it's about his life as a nailmaker in the Black Country. Could the bust be one of the Farleys, i think one of the Farleys lived in that corner house on Bratt Street (there's a picture of it in Dartmouth Park in that hut/cafe thing past the War memorial. Some viewers of an age may remember the Adelphi and Comet (for white goods) on that corner opposite the Public and there was a dance lesson place by the Kings cinema called something like Barbarellas (or something similar).

Hi Phil if the homeless don't want help its difficult for Sandwell Council to resolve they need to move these people out of the Town to a safe place were they can pitch their tents i would help them find work and sort out any drug problems and as you say Phil they can now get a Bank accounts we know the council can sort this out i found your walk around West Bromwich interesting all the best Paul
Great video Phil,it's unfortunate that homeless people have to resort to this and the council are not helping,but as you say some homeless people dont want a house or flat,the new building would make the area look a little better but they should convert the old west brom building society building into apartments instead of it just standing there.

Yes Phil there are many people living in tents now for many different reasons that we don't know about or understand. I must say if I were them I would also not want to be housed in Birmingham. As you say the police have no interest in these people if they're not causing any trouble and you can happily film them all day. However if you were to film around some local hotels the police would be there in numbers within about 5 minute. I'm speaking from experience. You're seeing more ambulances now because of certain treatments people have been having over the last 3 or so years. Many people call it the 3 dart finish.

I'm not 100% sure why but that bust was targeted when there was the attacks on statues of people associated with slavery .....can't really the details but it was when a black guy in America was suffocated by a cop kneeling on his neck 😢
15 years ago very few people were begging or sleeping rough. Then the Tories got in and made it difficult for people to claim benefits or to keep their homes, and here we are. Hopefully Labour will slowly reverse the mess the country got itself into, but they haven't made a great start.

Donations are just a scam to take more of your hard earned money from you. Very little if any goes there. Only goes to line the rich pockets.
