Being a BMW 1 series shadow edition owner myself I got to say I really enjoyed this video a lot! It’s a sub comment and like from me 👏🏾Guys lets get supporting my fellow UA-camr here doing wonders
I’ve had my 118i for about 7 months now , it’s a 1.6l M sport shadow edition so it’s pretty nippy , I would personally say I’ve always been a bmw fan , these cars are an absolute dream to drive smooth on eco , comfort , very nippy perfect for a 1/2st car
This car is bought massively by UA-camrs etc and people who love modding cars, only have to google the engine to know you should NOT be mapping or making any mods to it as it simply can't handle it, multiple videos from garages telling you not to mod it and even my mate mapped it with a company thats the main one used in his area and his 1.5 developed a engine fault and needed a new engine. Buying a 1 series soon the 118i auto with the 1.5 petrol engine but i won't be modding it and i suggest others do the same as remember its a 1.5 petrol engine its not meant to be thrashed or have mods on it which is what garages tell you its too much on the engine.
Is the BMW 1 Series reliable to own, because i am very interested in one but im not sure about the reliability since there is so many mixed reviews on them.
These B series motors are great with stage 1 tune. 120i can make approx 270ps, which turns it from nippy to fairly fast. Insurance companies sadly disagree.
I've heard the 3 cylinder is not got for tunnning and it could cause engine failure as it is too much power for 3 a cylinder engine. Do you anything about it?
Yes mate, loads of videos from garages etc explaining why not to map or mod this engine as it simply can't handle the stress even maps etc done by the best in the UK, 1 series are bought by UA-camrs and car modders and you only have to search the engine to see how many of them have needed new engines or rebuilds after mapping.
such a cool video but i prefer driving camera view (forgot the name) and you could maybe fix the sound quality for that driving camera view in the future
Nice cars, I fancy an m140i. Things I don't like is that the interior quality is poor for a BMW and no temperature gauge or spare wheel. (I hate runflats)
Nice video and review and definitely the POV angle is preferred or have both rolling at the same time if possible, or try a 360 camera that you can change where its focus is at in post so you can highlight things happening on the road etc. Not too sure about remapping these engines tbh but just looking at the 1 series or bmw 1.5 reviews as may get a Mini Cooper 1.5 that shares the same engine
@@ArmaganDemiral could you provide more info as to why? that's a pretty bold statement lmao and I'm not talking new, good spec used ones can be had between like £11-14k
@@ArmaganDemiral well I think I've found a decent one pretty sure, but I'm not too sure about the low seat height and a few other things which are just general to all of them
Just got one of these with the 3 cylinder petrol engine, very quiet when warm, van barely hear the engine when in the car, but it's pretty loud and noisy when starting from cold. Is that normal?
Great video mate, nice and informative. They make great power from a stage 1 map don't they. I like the interior styling in these but I do prefer the 1 series coupe. Keep up the great work pal.
3cylinder with the M Sport brake ... I wish the previous owner of mine had just spent the 750€ on the brakes as you're just not getting any decent deal on that brakes and buying spares costs more than buying the set for the 18" M Performance brakes ... ugh. Not a fan of the M mirror covers on a small engine car though. Looks too flashy for my taste. I'd definitely upgrade the screen for the larger 8.8" one - should just drop and an can then be encoded. While you're at it: pick a touch display add the better looking touch controller as well. They look better. You can also just encode Apple CarPlay (or pay for the BMW software upgrade)
My 118i I put the m140i style exhaust on but it custom full cat back from Toni banks sounds like a v6 actually sounds better the the actual m140i way more deeper sound
@@ArmaganDemiral in your opinion is there big difference between 118i 118d in sport trim? What's the main difference as well between SE Vs sport? Is it mainly look or performance?
I’m torn between the 116d and 118i, I’m leaning towards the petrol purely because I prefer petrol engines. And also, I don’t know whether to go for the manual or automatic gearbox?
Depends on your driving if you do long distance then diesel obviously but if you mostly do short trips then you'll clog DPF etc, why anyone buys a BMW with a manual gearbox i do not know...to me BMW are luxury cars and not something you spend thousands on just to sit changing gears yourself thats why im going with a auto 118i.
Can some one please let me know is the inner side of the headlight will work or it’s just for the show in day light light. Only outer side of the bulb is working in bmw 1 series m sport 118d 2019 model

Definitely the best looking 1 series they ever made. Remap on any turbo car is well worth it
Remap well worth it but anything past stage 1 is pointless bro.
@@ArmaganDemiral why is it worthless
@@tigerstripe3170 the extra power you get from let’s say a stage 2 is not worth the reliability risk and not worth the money
Do you miss power since it is a 3-cylinder car? Is stage 1 remapping safe on the 118i models?
Good review, I loved my 1 series. Had it from new around 2013, it was great. Practical, fun and economical.
Like this.
First time I'm considering a 3 cylinder engine as a 2nd car. Thanks for the review.
