  • Duran Duran’s Simon Le Bon says cancer-stricken bandmate Andy Taylor "won’t be around very long." Taylor was forced to miss the band's induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame due to ongoing treatment for stage four metastatic prostate cancer, the band have announced. “It is devastating news to find out a colleague - not a colleague, that’s the wrong thing - a mate, friend, one of our family, is not going to be around for very long," Simon said. “We love Andy dearly and I’m not going to stand here and cry. I think that would be inappropriate, but that’s what I feel like.” Andy said: “Just over four years ago I was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic prostate cancer. Many families have experienced the slow burn of this disease and of course, we are no different.” He added: “None of this needs to or should detract from what this band has achieved and sustained for 44 years. I’m so very proud of these four brothers.” HAVE YOUR SAY Should Matt Hancock be allowed on ITV I'm A Celebrity? He continued: "Recently I was doing OK after some very sophisticated life-extending treatment, that was until a week or so ago when I suffered a setback, and despite the exceptional efforts of my team, I had to be honest in that both physically and mentally, I would be pushing my boundaries. "However, none of this needs to or should detract from what this band (with or without me) has achieved and sustained for 44 years." Taylor added that he was "truly sorry and massively disappointed" he could not attend the ceremony, noting he had even bought a new guitar for the occasion, but that he was "very proud of these four brothers" and "overjoyed" they were accepting this award. "I often doubted the day would come. I'm sure as hell glad I'm around to see the day", he added.

I also really wanted Andy to spend more time with us. But time catches up for everyone, it may not be on that day, week or year but it could happen at some point because his cancer is terminal. He said that although his current condition is not immediately fatal (risk of death) there is no cure. I really wanted Simon, Nick, John and Roger to do some project or some album with Andy to kind of pay homage. I also wanted to know any news about the Reportage album when the Future Past album ends.

The news took us by surprise that 4 years ago he was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Like I saw 2 of Andy's Instagram posts one he's thankful for was introduced by RRHOF cuz it didn't even cross his mind. The other talks about what it was like to be part of Duran Duran and thanks the band and fans, but when I saw the black and white cover, I thought there was something wrong and we didn't know.
