Real life example of this in my life is my aunt. Girlie does NOTHING. Like, i don't think she ever work for even once in her life. She's 54 now but i swear she still pass as someone in her 30s!
Her daily activities are pilates, cooking whatever she likes, shopping, and picnic with her husband. She's the embodiment of unbothered and being very secure in herself. Love that for her fr♡

Hey which one of my friends are you lol just kidding the woman you described as 54 but you could be describing me right now, except that I'm 50....... And I raised five children that I gave birth to, and I still look like I'm in my 30s. When I walk into stores people stop to stare at me, men will often times circle around a row of food and come back just to take a second look at me. I don't know I guess you couldn't really say that I did nothing for 50 years lol after all there was the five kids and the two different husbands!

It’s interesting that we/society views what your aunt does “as doing NOTHING” when she does so much that’s it’s not quantifiable bc it’s worth more than gold.
What your aunt does takes love, wisdom, compassion, dedication, grit, kindness, and so much more - those are qualities that take a lifetime to achieve. Hats off to your aunt

Yeah, the thing is, people will become lazy and incompetent this way. You are not useful if you just exist in the workplace for instance. I have a colleague who just exists and be's. She's super feminine. I'm sending out a complaint on her because I've had to pick up her slack and I feel drained. It's not fair that I've had to do my own work and am now responsible for her bullshit. I want her gone and I'll make sure she is. I'm fucking tired of OT-ing because of her, who just sits on her ass, looks pretty, texts on her phone, looks busy and then asks me hundreds of questions throughout the day which basically means I'm doing her work for her. Why is she here? You're not valuable by merely existing. Sorry but I can't ever agree with this inherent value bs. If you're incompetent, you're not allowed in my life. I'm going to make sure I make it harder for people to ask for my help and this means I'll have to speak to my boss about this as well as they constantly encourage helping your team and blah blah.

My man allowed me to fully enter my feminine energy and now even at work, all the men do the work and all I can focus on myself, my well-being, and my schooling. Im an EMT so even all the heavy lifting, the men do it for me and I bring the peace and compassion to my patients. I literally had a partner tell me “you’re the ambulance princess” 😭💕
What I meant by this comment was the heavy lifting part of my job. We would get really really heavy patients, 300lbs and up. And I would get my partners (majority men) say that they’ll do the lifting for me. I didn’t sit there and tell them to do it but I see it was kinda taken the wrong way which is understandable. I of course was able to lift my patients up but I had the men offer it to me and didn’t want me to. Hope that clears it up some.

as a girl in a tech world, i got to where i am now because i embodied my masculine energy. i strangled my feminine energy because i had a lot of incorrect misogynistic feelings about women and also felt like i had to literally act and dress like a man for the people to take me seriously,
this really resonated with me because im healing mentally and getting more comfortable with my feminine energy recently and now i feel so much more empowered as a woman thank you. i still don't know ifm completely okay with the idea that im enough just by being a woman, because in my field women have to work hard to get valued, but i see ur point and i think itll take time

you’ve worked so hard and it really does suck that we have to change the way we act and appear so that we can be taken more seriously. hard work isn’t masculine though, hard work shows strength. and women have strength and pain built in. the women in my life are mentally, emotionally, and therefore physically stronger than a lot of the men i know. i wish we could be strong and feminine at the same time in the eyes of men.

I think I need to hear this everyday! I'm naturally feminine and masculine guys like that about me. BUT when I fell for a guy, I fell harder. That made me chase him, keep proving myself that I'm perfect for him, giving him too much attention even though we haven't even met yet! Now that I realized completely what I did, I was being a total creep! Especially because he's attractive in a lot of ways so he's used to have girls obsessed with him. I don't wanna be one of them. He was attracted to me first but he ends up pulling away 😢
Now I'm taking a step back as well, being in ghost mode so I can fix my feminine energy first. It's not my task to fix him, it's not my task to mother him. If I'm feeling at peace with myself, I'll naturally radiate peaceful energy so people can be comfortable around me 😊

    Alright. Gotta break this down.
Definitely agree with minding your own business and not having martyr syndrome. It does no favors.
The only thing I don’t agree with is the receiving part that so many people try to peddle.
I’ve been in relationships and gone on dates with men who are well off. Yes, they were cool with paying the tickets for the first rounds or so but it would eventually turn into “we can’t afford that. It’s too expensive.” Suddenly my lifestyle and tastes were determined by his budget and comfort zone.
Not having that. Yes, I decided to become that bread winner because I’m not going to let someone else’s budget, laziness, or stinginess determine where I live or where I eat. These guys wouldn’t even wipe their own kids’ ass if they had any. It’s all a front. Except for my dad. He was a real provider, nurturer, masculine and feminine balance, but he’s a rare one.
And would you believe it that these dudes were the ones who would police what I say, my tone, my dreams, and my ambition? If “female gender roles” were introduced, duties would be assigned to me or his mother. Heaven forbid they’d get off their asses to cook or clean. Heaven forbid they would have drive to accommodate the both of us. But it was me who was, like said in the video, expected to pick up the slack?
After those upper class, pampered men revealed themselves to be princess, I changed my direction. I’m dating a broke dude for years. Does he pay my meals at fancy restaurants? My wardrobe? My car? No. But he cooks me dinner, cares for our son, changes my car tire when I have a flat, mows my lawn, landscapes my garden. Grows me food. Cleans my house.
I went into IT. He says, “go for it, babe.” I want to become a lawyer. It’s going to take 3 years and a lot of loans. He said “let me get my CDL so I can support us.”
Roles, economic situations, and actions are fluid. They’re based on circumstances and those change at a whim because a lot of our environment is beyond our control. I was born here, in a country that puts men on a pedestal. But that doesn’t mean I can’t find a man who has the willingness to see beyond it. And it definitely goes beyond who pays god your meals at dinner. Dating is a facade for the first 3 - 6 months, anyway.

I often feel less than my boyfriend because I don't manage to work (cause of my health) and also that I should be smarter and more intellectual in my conversations with him. I know he loves me, but still, in my mind I keep on comparing myself to all his outer achievements.
But when I listen, in my heart I know I bring warmth and softness and realness just by being me with all my waves of emotions and also playfulness. Bo need for achieving this and that. It is sometimes easier to see the value in the feminine in other women for me..

Thank you so much love. I really needed to hear this. As a woman who’s constantly been trying to prove to others for them to “like me” - it has ruined me, and people take advantage of me. I will try to focus on understanding that I don’t need to do anything other than my tasks. I am enough by simply existing. And if it’s not for me - then I don’t need it.

For the longest time I looked down on softness, kindness and femininity because they brought me nothing but being exploited to the core, being taken advantage of and bled dry! Also brainwashing me and making me feel like my contributions were insignificant. I’m on my healing journey now and learning to see my values and saying no to other ppl tasks without feeling bad! Femininity doesn’t mean not having any responsibilities. It’s all about finding a balance. It’s true that we woman gain energy from the inside, so we have to rest and relax to share with others. But life would be too pretty if we would be just taken care of and not having any responsibilities at all.

@@Elisabetta.Scalisi I’m actually very picky about man,but let’s leave it there. So, I think both - man and woman have responsibilities. At work and at home. Both can work, both can clean. It’s all about finding the right partner and talk about it together. If both are working, you should both share responsibilities. Most often man are making bigger salary than women, so depends on that you can share responsibilities and who pay for what. How about - If he makes better money - He pay all the bills, you pay for the grocery and you are in charge of cooking, but he always pay when you both eat out ? I think that’s fair. But we can’t expect man to pay for everything and do everything. Another thing is - once you married, all the money should be together, not separate, it often saves a lot of problems. You agree on who spends mostly on what etc. But, It all takes the right partner… loving, mature understanding and caring. And if children’s are there, I think that women should not work (if she doesn’t want to), because we are the ones going through all the pregnancy, pain and postpartum.

I think it should be "not do free work for others". I think doing stuff with your hands (sewing, gardening, scrapbooking) or whatever is satisfactory. Just being a "being" is nice, and meditation helps for the peace, but doing nothing is not the exact solution. Do what you like and what makes you feel great, but "do nothing" is not the best alternative to "do free physical, mental and emotional work for others".
I see the point of going the other side, but this is exaggerated. Just do not crave external validation: do things that will provide you internal validation, whichever those are: painting figurines, leatherworking your own bags, scrapbooking, the gym, rock climbing... but DO something. Doing nothing at all is a recipe for depression. Do nothing for external validation. Do everything that will make you feel proud of yourself (internal validation). That's the true path to happiness.

The Second Shift by Arlie Hochschild talks about the incompatibility in relationships when it comes to traditional/egalitarian models of relationships. It’s from the late 80s but I think still holds up in relation to what you said about ‘egalitarian’ relationships usually devolving into women doing everything. She finds, however, that rather than one model (trad vs transitional vs egalitarian) being better than the others, it comes down to both couples’ conscious perception of the relationship, actual behavior, and true desires being compatible. While the book focuses on the often unequal division of labor between heterosexual couples, the resentment and tension between couples did not necessarily come from the unequal or differences in labor/roles, but rather a clash of expectations. I understand there are a lot of women who do really to be the ‘feminine’ in a relationship and take on a more receptive role. However, I think it’s kind of reductive to dismiss the value of egalitarianism in other people’s relationships because you believe that men and women naturally have different roles. I totally respect that that’s the kind of relationship that feels right to you, and I also know there would be (and are) lots of miserable people in more ‘traditional’ relationships because the dynamic doesn’t fit what they really want for themselves. My two cents anyways, especially coming from a non-binary perspective.

True I dated a guy for 3 and half years most of the finances was my reposibity, I used to gift him buy books for him to practice for job, did lot of emotional efforts, and today he wear those gifts, didn't give me my money back and now brag about having lot of girls to flirt in front of me as we already broke up but he thinks he have access of me whenever he wants because I'm the only one who understands him and natured always. I blocked him the moment I realise that he still sees me as a comfy couch to lean on and use and then move on and come back when he want to use me again
